"In exchange for my sister and my father's freedom." Elphaba could hear her father faintly breathe his relieves out behind her. "Let me take the consequences of his actions," Elphaba said solemnly, and it seemed like the Beast's outrage waned, just a bit, leaving the slightest chance for optimism.

Seeing her sister again for the first time in years leaves Elphaba startled, her emotions going haywire and her magic following in its path. She freezes at the sight of the bags beneath her eyes, the tension in her shoulders, the shock in her eyes at her sudden appearance. Her little sister, grown so very old and weary in her absence.
