Chapter Text
It had been eight years since the war.
Eight years since that day.
Since the day Katsuki Bakugou died.
Since the day he came back.
Since the day he won.
Since they won.
It had been six years since graduation.
Six years since they all walked across the stage.
Since they all became heros.
Since class 1-A went separate ways with each other.
It had been four years since Katsuki Bakugou had moved in with Eijirou Kirishima.
Four years since their first kiss.
Since their first ‘I love you’s.
Since their first argument.
Since their first tear filled ‘I’m sorry’s.
It had been three years since their first and last ‘I do’s.
It had been a rough day at work for Eijirou. He had gotten thrown into walls and floors, but he managed to come out on top. After hours of paperwork, all he wanted to do was curl into his husband’s arms and pass out. However, when he got home, his husband was nowhere to be found.
This was expected. It was Katsuki’s day off, so he would obviously be visiting Izuku. The man was like his brother after all.
Eijirou just wished others saw it that way.
If he had to see one more article about Katsuki’s secret relationship with the semi-retired hero/teacher, he was going to lose it.
It wasn’t like that and he knew that.
Izuku and Katsuki had been there for each other during the whole class’ most traumatic moment.
Hell, Katsuki fucking died.
And Eijirou wasn’t even close enough to know.
Stop.
He ran a hand over his face and limped over to the bathroom to shower. He needed to get the blood and grime off of his body.
He felt disgusting.
He turns the shower on and flinches a bit at the sudden, loud rush of water. He reaches to check the temperature and relaxes at the cold of it on his hand. He usually liked the warmth, but he couldn’t do it today.
He stepped into the cold water and sighed as it ran over his sore, scarred body.
Drops rolled over his rough, tan skin.
He groans and rolls his neck before beginning to clean his body.
He couldn’t stand any longer. He had been working double shifts for the past two months.
He was pretty sure there was a law or something against that, but he was too nice to fight against it.
A few hours later, he was laying in their bed. He didn’t even bother to eat. He just wanted to lay down.
Of course, Katsuki wasn’t going to have it. He hated when his husband skipped meals or went lax when it came to taking care of himself.
Katsuki walked in after a long night of drinking with Izuku.
He didn’t drink anything, but it was still somewhat enjoyable.
He needed the energy after days of the same thing on end. He needed support from someone that understood what he went through way back when.
Sure, their classmates were there, but they weren’t there.
Eijirou wasn’t there.
He walked in and noticed that the kitchen was the same as when he had left earlier this morning.
“Dumbass..” he mumbles as he takes off his jacket and walks over to start cooking for Ei.
He made Eijirou’s favorite meal. He knew the man was having a rough time. The new wave of villains had been rough for everyone, but especially Eijirou.
He was always called to missions like that due to his brutal strength and sturdiness. People tended to forget that the man was still a man, even when he kicked ass like a beast.
He smiles softly as he finishes, thinking about the dorky smile that he’ll see on his husband’s dorky face.
It was still rare to see the blonde smile outside of their house, but he didn’t mind being softer around the man he had decided to share his life with. But he would never say that out loud.
After all, there’s a reason he keeps sliding down the ranks.
People don’t favor his attitude. Even going as far as to ask the redhead what he sees in the explosive hero.
But the famous Red Riot just smiles and walks away.
Bakugou plated the food and walked to their room with it on a tray. He opened the door and woke his sleeping beauty up.
“Wake up, Shitty Hair.” He barks out.
Eijirou snaps up in panic, but relaxes when he sees his firey angel.
“Hey, honey..” He smiles tiredly and takes the tray.
“Sorry for skipping dinner, I was too tired. I didn’t mean to worry you.”
Katsuki sighs and sits next to him on the edge of the bed.
“It’s fine, you idiot..Just tell me if I need to come back early next time. I don’t want you here by yourself when you’ve been overworking yourself.”
Eijirou looks at Katsuki with a soft expression and swings his legs around so that he’s by Katsuki. He lays his head on the blonde’s shoulder and sighs.
“I missed you..I miss when we could go on missions together.”
“I know, Red. They had to switch it because we’re both too badass to be on the clock at the same time. Now, lay down while I go get the lotion. I can tell you’re sore by the way you’re sitting.” Katsuki huffs.
He acts like he doesn’t care, but he does.
Honestly, he’s the only person that can act like this without Ei being self conscious about it….he’s just that whipped he guesses…
The rest of the night is calming.
Kats rubs Eijirou’s sore muscles, and they fall asleep to a cheesy rom-com that Katsuki will only endure for his personal sun’s sake.
It was nice..this closeness between them…
If only it had lasted.
