Chapter Text
D3rlord3 stood in front of the golden doors, his hands were trembling as he proceeded to slowly walk towards the door. He knew he would not win, but he could have ran away with the knowledge of something this terrifying without knowing it all. Despite how insane it was, despite how each step gave him an unbearable headache, despite the silence grew louder as he proceeded closer to the gates of his faith, he knew that he had to attempt something, anything, that could possibly stop this madness.
He didn't know what could possibly await him behind those doors, but he might as well try to find out.
He peeked into the doors, to find no one in there, which almost made him calm down, almost. He trudged forward, through the small crack and into the ginormous door. There was nothing but even more darkness, which made D3rlord3 a bit scared. He raised his pickaxe in front of him as some sort of a threat, as if it would have done anything of value.
You came at last, my little lord.
The door slammed shut before D3rlord3 could react, engulfing the knight in total darkness. He panicked as tried running back to the door, except when we ran back there was no door to bump into. Almost as if he was in a pocket dimension, he tried looking at his hands to test the visibility of the room. There seemed to be a bit of a light yellow dim that allowed him to barely see himself, almost as if he was the one glowing.
A little scared of the dark?
That voice echoed through the room once again, raspy and taunting yet deceivingly deep smooth voice. With no source to pin it to, D3rlord3 began to trod lightly and silently as he tried looking for the person speaking to him. "Show yourself, I am not afraid of you."
Looking for me already? My, my, aren't you an anxious one?
The room was suddenly filled with a flash of yellow, D3rlord3 covered his eyes as the blinding light engulfed him. A small gust of warm air rushed past the knight, he opened his eyes to see what it was only to be greeted with nothing but yellow. He squinted trying to make out what he was seeing yet it seemed to always escape his sight.
A figure so tall and powerful yet so small and untraceable with tendrils that looked like it was directly from the voided floor. With a barely distinguishable yellow cloak covering the void that was standing in front of him. D3rlord3 tried to understand what he was looking at, then suddenly, he did.
It was The King, the one that was supposed to arrive.
He would be my King? No-
You're not only anxious, you seemed to be confused too. Here, let me help you.
Yellow swirls of terror slowly crept from that 'thing' onto the floor and suddenly spread out, filling up the black floor; reaching out for D3rlord3. With no hesitation he began to run away, he didn't want to know what would happen to him if he was ever caught by the King.
Then suddenly, the answers flooded his head.
Panic settled on D3rlord3's head as he tried to piece together everything that was happening in his head, attempts of him leaving, attempts of him getting out of his current predicament. However, those where only attempts, no matter how much he thought, no matter how much he seemed to 'remember', none of those 'memories' had him succeeding. His adrenaline was the only thing holding him back from passing out due to the amount of information he was trying to understand.
Yet his body gave up on him, his ears rang so loud he had lost his balance and tripped at his own feet. He closed his eyes, preparing for impact, yet it didn't came. Instead he found himself still falling down the endless void, he couldn't tell how fast he was falling as there was no wind hitting him. Suddenly, he knew how fast he was going and all he felt was fear.
D3rlord3 screamed.
Yet he didn't made a sound.
Don't fret…
Suddenly, D3rlord3's descent stopped as he landed on top of a cushion, he didn't bounced yet he didn't sank either. He gently touched the surface he was sitting on and felt warmth, like someone's skin yet there was no texture to be felt nor seen, almost as if he was touching void itself. He blinked and suddenly the cloaked figure was suddenly in front of him, holding him in his 'palm'.
The figure had more form now, his cloak was distinguishable yet you could see swirls of ink-like golden texture moving around the yellow cloth, these golden swirls seemed to also stick out on top of his head and move like thin candleflames, forming points of a crown. The figure within the cloak had once again blended with the void surrounding him, yet there were movements, like a thousand hands were trying to get out of their containment.
D3rlord3 tried backing away but he couldn't move at all, he was too… entranced by whatever was in front of him. So terrifyingly unnatural yet so intrinsically mesmerizing, like a moth to a flame, or a child to a lava lamp. For a split second his thoughts had calmed down as he found himself about to crawl towards the King before stopping. His body shook in fear as he came to a realization of what was about to happen. He stood up and tried to get his pickaxe out only to find out that his entire inventory had gone missing, mayhap had fallen out of his pockets when he was falling.
Impressive, I should have expected such resistance from you.
The voice was definitely from this figure, this 'King' in front of him. There was no mouth to be seen yet the message had been voiced out, booming through the vast emptiness.
"Aren't you supposed to know everything? Why were you surprised." D3rlord3 blurted out, surprised by the fact he knew that to begin with. He felt the platform holding him rumble in a pattern, almost as if the King was laughing in his response.
Oh I was not, however your reactions are hilarious to see when you are this… close…
The King slowly approached D3rlord3, who was backing away from him, eventually stepping back onto nothing. Yet before he could fall, tendrils had wrapped around his legs and pulled him back up with a jerk, causing him to fall forward and land on his knees. "I am not here to entertain you." he choked as he tried to stand back up and failed.
You aren't here to entertain me, my little lord.
D3rlord3 desperately tried to move around, he knew why he's here, he's both confused as to why it was him that the King had chosen and absolutely terrified at what will happen to him. His headache could almost be felt by his entire body and the King approached closer and closer. "What… Are… you.. doing to me?"
Was that question necessary since you now know everything? D3rlord3 could hear the King smiling with that statement, he was right, I am learning everything too. His eyes widened as he thought of it for a moment before he started flailing around, trying to get away from the King or shoo him off.
However, the tendrils surrounding his legs had been slowly creeping up to his thighs forcing him to stay in a kneeling position. More segments had crawled up to his chest which forced him to straighten his back. A yellow tentacle rose up behind D3rlord3 and took off his helmet, tossed it to the side before it pulled the knight's low ponytail, forcing him to look up at the Majesty as he squirmed and wiggled. "Stop.. why.. why are you..?" He stammered as his thoughts were consumed with information, the headache seemed to have stacked on top of each other.
The King stopped in front of the Knight, he stooped down just enough that his head was right in front of the mortified lord as his cloak almost engulfed the Knight. The King reached out with his 'hand', thin and slender twigs with golden tips. A finger reached out and touched D3rlord3's forehead.
All of a sudden, everything stopped, the thoughts, the headaches, the pain. Was replaced with a warm and calming sensation, almost addicting by the way the feeling crawled onto his body. D3rlord3's tense shoulders and flailing arms had dropped to the sides allowing more darkness to cover his body. His eyes widened as he looked up at the King, his pupils unfocused as his stare fell down into the faceless void the King has. Not a single thought could be seen within the knight's eyes.
The darkness began to envelop the knight, liquid goo and slithering tentacles crept up in D3rlord3's body, slowly engulfing him.
You shall gain the blessings of the King, my Knight.
