Chapter Text
In this world, a bond more ancient than quirks exists—more powerful, and more silent than any secret. A bond no one can explain, one that heroes ignore, one that even All Might himself couldn’t describe without difficulty.
A bond called Soulmates.
Those blessed with this bond are not marked by anything. No—soulmates find each other through something far more intimate. Something you cannot hide, nor force, nor forget.
They feel each other’s heartbeats.
Not all the time; it isn’t like a second rhythm beating constantly in their chest. But when one of them lives an intense moment—devouring fear, overflowing joy, uncontrollable anger—then the other feels something. A vibration, an echo. A foreign beat pulsing in their own chest as if another heart lived there for an instant.
A few notice it at a very young age. Others understand it later, sometimes after years of denial. And some never seem to accept it.
Some say that finding one’s soulmate can make a person stronger—that a hero who knows the heart of their soulmate can avoid fatal mistakes. That a couple unified by this shared heartbeat becomes an unbeatable duo on the battlefield.
But soulmates can be lost. If one collapses, the other feels as if struck by lightning. If one dies, the heartbeat stops in the one still standing for a never-ending second. So, instinctively—fearfully—some prefer to ignore this bond when it manifests, convincing themselves they imagined that strong beat, that abnormal pulse, that rush and pain in their chest.
After all, who would want to believe that someone, somewhere, is already written in their blood?
