Chapter Text
It's been a long week. Alexa's dealt with a lot between Raw, War Games, and then the match against Rhea and Io. She hasn't felt this exhausted in a long time. She's sitting at the kitchen table, listening to Mickie in the other room, boots clicking against the floor with each step she takes as she decorates. She can see lights glittering against the wall, the glow growing brighter as more time passes and Mickie puts more around the room.
Alexa feels like the table under her hand is drifting away, her head tilting forward as she breathes in and out in time with Mickie's steps. She's not sure how much time has passed when she's startled awake, looking up to find Mickie kneeling next to her, a concerned look on her face. "Hey," she says with a sleepy smile.
"Hey," Mickie says. "You're sleepy, huh?"
"I am," Alexa agrees. "Can we go to bed?"
Mickie chuckles. "Yeah, Lexi. We can, in a couple of minutes. You wanna see the living room first?"
Alexa turns her head towards the bright lights flashing in the other room and hums. "Yeah," she says. "I'd like that."
"Great." Mickie keeps a hand under her arm, helping her stagger sleepily into the living room.
The tree is standing in the corner, bright lights flashing where they've been looped around the branches. Ornaments glint in the lights and Alexa approaches it, smiling as Mickie leans against the wall and watches her face. "Wow," she murmurs, lightly touching one of the ornaments she'd gotten from Disney World a couple of years ago.
"Did I do a good job?" Mickie asks though she thinks she already knows the answer.
"You did amazing," Alexa says, turning to wrap her arms around Mickie's neck. "And you did it all on your own while I was being sleepy and lazy. Thank you so much."
Mickie beams, reaching up and squeezing her forearms. "I'm glad you like it," she says. "Besides, you've had a ridiculous schedule the last week, so I'm more than fine with handling the decorating. As long as you don't mind."
"Nah, I don't mind," Alexa murmurs, leaning into Mickie's warm embrace. "I'm pretty wiped out, so if you don't do it, it's probably not going to get done."
Mickie smiles and presses a kiss to the top of Alexa's head. "Yeah, I assumed as much," she admits. "C'mon, let's get you to bed. I just washed those nice snuggly PJs that are your favorites. We'll get you out of these, and into them." She tugs lightly on the leather jacket that Alexa's been wearing since leaving the hotel earlier this morning.
"Yes please," she sighs, allowing Mickie to turn her around and start to guide her down the hall to their bedroom. Once she's out of her street clothes and into the soft, lilac colored PJs that Mickie had laid out for her, she sinks into the thick blankets covering their bed and makes a soft, content little noise as she cuddles up, hugging a pillow close.
"Next up," Mickie says, running her hands gently through Alexa's hair as she starts to drift off again, "I'll decorate our bedroom."
Alexa hums. "I love you," she murmurs sleepily.
Mickie smiles, her eyes softening. "I love you too," she murmurs, leaning in to press a soft kiss to Alexa's lips.
