My consequences you must carry

Summary:

What I think could of happened, had Trip lived in the end.

(The majority of these characters are only mentioned, I'm still figuring out tags)

Notes:

I haven't truly written fanfiction before so bare with me. The character is most like is written wrong, I wrote this in 10 minutes for a class.

Please give me any constructive feedback and any tips your willing to share on writing any of these characters!

Hope you enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Your feet bring you down the street. After 10 years your back on Earth, you should feel at home.

You were planning on going home and resting, well, working really. However, it is your old crew's reunion, and you have direct orders from the Admiral to show up and be present. That is the reason he's walking beside you now. He was there when the Shuttle landed, waiting. Knowing him, he knew what you were not planning on going.

Its the truth, you weren't. You start to ponder why he wants you there; you betrayed him, you betrayed the crew, he locked you in the brig. You failed at your job, and he still wants you there. Why?

Before you can ponder any more, the door where the function is taking place at is before you. The Admiral opens the door and gestures for you to enter. You step in, taking in everything at once. Possible exit routes for if something goes wrong, if anyone has any kind of weapons on them, that the room is loud and overwhelming compared to the quiet street.

There are people here you don't recognize. Crew members you saw but never truely got to know. Others you have never met before, children and adults alike.

After a few moments you see them. The Doctor, the old commander, Travis, Hoshi, and...the old chief engineer. You take a step back, falter, barely noticable. You take him in, old burn wounds on his neck peeking out from the collar of his shirt. A consequence of your failure all those years ago.

You couldn't save him, he nearly died, and its your fault. You failed at your job. But, before you can leave, the Admiral starts to steer you towards them. Towards the person you caused so much pain too. Towards your old friends.

Notes:

Sorry if that was painful, it was kinda for me.
