Summary:

Lisa goes to the airport to take Carla home where she belongs and give her the ring back. When Becky thinks she has won, Lisa is steps ahead.

Chapter 1

“Because the last time you saw me is still burned in the back of your mind.” - Back to December, Taylor Swift.

 

Lisa was sitting on the sofa looking over the last few messages she had shared to Carla. Some of the words that they had shared with each other were ingrained in Lisa’s mind. Her mind had been all over the place. You never really know what it feels like to lose someone until it happens, how devastating it is even when you are expecting it and were the one who initiated the separation in the first place.

 

All kinds of thoughts flooded through Lisa’s mind.

 

Why did I push away the one person who gets me?

 

Carla is the love of my life.

 

How could I let Becky win?

 

I need to make sure that Carla knows I didn’t give up on us. Not without fighting first.

 

There she was… right there in the room. In their home, the home where Carla was supposed to be. 

 

Carla was sitting in a seat in the airport with the last coffee she would have from Roy’s for at least the next few weeks. She felt that she was overdue a break and what better way to relax with a book on the beach.

 

This would be such a bittersweet holiday. Carla picked up her phone to check the time and remembered that her phone was on do not disturb as she was already in holiday mode.

 

But she still found herself in the messages app. Partly to make sure that the factory was in order and her clients were happy.

 

She found herself hovering over Lisa’s contact number. Just as she turned off do not disturb, another text message came through.

 

It was from her detective. Her favourite person.

 

.Lisa: Carla, please. Please do not get on that plane.

 

Carla: …

 

Lisa: Please stay. I was wrong and I’m sorry.

 

Carla: 

 

She tried to be strong to avoid the pain and hurt. Yet she found herself wanting to try.

 

Carla: What would change if I did stay?

 

Lisa: Carla??? Well I cannot quite believe it. It’s really you. What would change… well I’d change, I would be better and firmer with Becky, I’d put the ring back on your finger where it belongs.

 

Lisa had found it. That didn’t take long either.

 

The text message was followed by a picture of the ring in Lisa’s hand. 

 

Carla: I do miss having it on my finger. Could you come and pick me up from the airport? But I have a few wishes first if that is okay with you?

Chapter 2: it’s Carla… it’s always Carla

Summary:

Lisa puts things right. It’s Carla that she wants, she will fight for her!

Lisa was recounting the wishes Carla had sent by text in her mind.

It was time for them to close a chapter of their lives. Once and for all. That Becky shaped burden that they didn’t need to be apart of… for Lisa’s sake. As much as it was for Carla’s sake too.

One of Carla’s biggest wishes was for Lisa to change. She couldn’t bear to see her exhausted and in so much pain. Becky had to go back to Spain. They were both sure of that.

She got into the car as soon as possible. Lisa had been going to the gym and had built up stamina really. So she had bolted out of the door. Not in fear this time, not out of guilt. But because she was driven by a primary force, her love for Carla.

Becky was standing by the door but it didn’t bother Lisa in the slightest, she wasn’t going to be phased by Becky. She never would… not anymore. Becky wouldn’t win.
