A chilling gust of wind sunk into Angel's bones, flowing through the thin, ragged clothing that was desperately clinging to his body. Shivering, Angel continued stomping through the thick snow, boots sinking in and out of the unsteady ground. He stumbled and shook as he nearly lost his balance, grumbling to himself and clinging to a nearby wall.
It had been only a few hours since he had finally left the Vees' tower, and he was yet to find the hotel in this damn snow. Despite being trapped in Valentino's tower for the past few months, the adrenline from finally being free had quickly faded into stinging cold.
Frost clung to his filthy knotted hair which hung over his exhausted eyes and panting mouth. Air flitted in and out of his body in erratic gasps and his six arms wrapped around his thin stomach, trying to retain the little warmth he could generate.
Stumbling further down the dark alley, Angel tripped over a large chunk of snow, the cold brick wall scraping his arm. Angel gasped, his hand tightening on the injured arm as pool of bright red begun puddling around the injury.
"Shit..." he muttered, leaning against the wall in exhaustion. Clutching his arm, Angel finally shut his eyes, trying to block out the terrible situation.
As a new wave of wind hit, his mind began to disassociate, drifting towards a place away from... everything...
Husk... he would've made this better. His gentle eyes, his soft fur, his large beating wings, his warmth...
Angel sighed as he pictured Husk's face, leaning forward, taking him away from the stabbing cold and into his waiting arms...
But that would never happen. Because he wasn't here. It wasn't like he would just magically manifest in the middle of nowhere-
A crash snapped Angel out of his daydream, eyes snapping towards the source.
Glass shattering.
Shouting.
Angel froze, breath quickening and limbs shaking. He grabbed a nearby broken glass, holding up in self-defense. The figure crept closer, and Angel pressed himself further against the wall.
Closer.
Closer.
Closer.
Angel shut his eyes in anticipation, trying to shield himself before the figure beat him.
"Angel!?" A familiar voice called.
No... it couldn't be... Angel cautiously opened his shut eyes, widening them in shock.
Husk.
His yellow eyes stared in shock from across the alleyway, his brown fur framed with a thin layer of snow. Dark red wings were tucked behind his back, his paws slightly trembling.
God, why was he trembling?
"Oh my God." He whispered, eyes widening in shock and breath becoming more shallow.
"Husk-" Angel's voice broke, tears clouding by the edges of his eyes.
Husk rushed forward, warm arms pressed around Angel's body in a tight hug.
Small sobs shook Angel's body, his arms still frozen by his side with the empty broken glass in shock. Finally, his arms slowly drifted towards Husk, burying his head in his shoulder and muffling his sobs. His arms trembled and shook, mirroring Husk's.
Husk's sobs finally burst out, muffled in Angel's fur. The two tightly embraced for a while, sitting in each others' company.
Finally, Husk gently pulled away, wiping Angel's tears away.
"Let's go home."
