Summary
Eight months after the final battle that saved Hawkins, the world has moved on.
Mike hasn’t.
Will died stopping Vecna. His body is lost, his sacrifice immortalized, his name spoken in reverent past tense. Hawkins rebuilds. Friends graduate. Grief becomes something polite, manageable, survivable.
Except for Mike.
Confined to his childhood bedroom, Mike finds that Will never truly left. Will speaks to him. Sits beside him. Watches over him. Soft, gentle, and achingly familiar. Whether he is a lingering spirit or a mind fractured by trauma is never made clear—but Mike doesn’t care.
His room becomes a sanctuary. A shrine. A prison.
As concern turns to suspicion and love turns to obsession, Mike begins to protect his solitude with violence. Anyone who threatens to separate him from Will becomes a danger. Will never asks for this. Will begs him to stop.
But Mike has already decided:
