Summary:

what would Toriel think?

Notes:

I posted another chapter, it's somewhat short but I though this was a good ending point and wanted to get this out in an ok amount of time.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Kris and Susie were tired, they both have been through a lot from the day so it came as no surprise the moment they tried to think of something else to do besides watch a candle burn they fell asleep.
Susie was the first to go, she closed her eyes for a brief moment to think of what to do and almost immediately fell asleep leaned up against Asriel’s bed.

Kris watched her as she fell asleep, Kris could hardly believe that their bully a few days ago was comfortable enough to sleep in their room, Kris looked at Susie with an almost fascination. To most they’d probably see a tired drooling bully, but not to Kris, to Kris Susie was something they never had, something they always thought they should have, but something they never thought was something they deserved or was worth the effort until now, a friend, a real friend.

Any other “friend” Kris has had in the past were usually from obligation or circumstance, but they never felt real at least not this real, Susie was real, she was really there not for any other reason other than Kris.

Kris watched how Susie snored rather loudly, loud enough to fear waking Kris’ mother, as the snoring seemed to soothe Kris another emotion started to take them, they felt anguish.

Kris: Why… why now of all times, why must it be now

Kris thought though not making a sound, they couldn’t make a sound the soul had control, usually Kris would take it out at night so they could sleep without needing to fear waking up from the soul wanting to “explore” or whatever else it wanted to do in the middle of the night, but tonight they were too weak, too tired and most importantly Susie was in the room and there would be no where to put it in their room without her easily finding it though Kris did have an Idea, a stupid idea and those were the best kind.

Kris ripped out their soul as they suppressed their screams as the process was quite painful, they couldn’t use their bird cage so instead they stuffed it into their pillow case putting the weight of their head on top of it so it couldn’t move, Kris hoped that when they were to wake up they could hastily put the soul back in before Susie was to wake up.

So with that Kris slowly drifted asleep.

9:28 a.m.

Kris felt their body shake.

Susie: Kris, KRIS, wake up goddamnit!

Susie violently shook Kris awake. Kris woke up in a slight panic as he jolted up

Susie: Kris you finally woke up sleepy head, at that rate you would have slept through the festival.

Kris wanted to lay back down and fall asleep as they usually would do this early in the morning, but Kris also knew that wasn’t going to happen, not with Susie.

Kris sat up to get out of the bed then they realized they didn’t have the soul, Kris turned to look in horror to see the soul was missing from under the pillow, there was no trace to where it might have went, all Kris knew was that it was somewhere where it shouldn’t be and if they didn’t find it soon Kris was going to be in big trouble.

Susie: Dude why are you looking at your pillow like that, you don’t want to sleep that much do you?

Kris turned to look at Susie trying to give her the most neutral expression they could mustard though they practically were grinding their teeth in stress

Susie: Now come on and lets get going before anything at the festival starts

Susie grabbed Kris’ wrist as she hastily walked out the door, as Susie walked out she ran into Toriel in the hallway knocking her over.

Susie: ahhh! Dude watch it- I-I mean I’m sorry miss- I uhh Toriel

Susie went to help Toriel on her feet

Toriel: You are quite alright my child I ju- oh! You are both here, did you- oh my I’m sorry if you children saw any inappropriate actions of mine last night I just got carried away, I should have been more aware of who might have been here. I can make you both breakfast this morning to make up for it.

Susie: Oh uh you don’t need to do that, me and Kris are about to go to the festival.

Toriel: You both are going to the festival together?

Kris hearing their mother say it in the tone she used immediately made them start to blush at what their mother might be implying especially with Susie holding their arm, Susie of course was oblivious.

Susie: Uh yeah I guess so.

Susie shrugged

Toriel: Well my oh my, Kris you should have told me you were going with your friend to the festival, though it is a little early I will allow you to go, just make sure to be home by 10:00 p.m.
I will also be there myself so if you find your dear mother “embarrassing” just avoid me.

Toriel Chuckled to herself while Kris was standing there blushing from embarrassment, from the way Toriel said friend and how she called herself embarrassing it was clear how their mom saw it.
Kris wanted to defend themselves, that they and Susie weren’t going “together” or that they were JUST FRIENDS, but they couldn’t bring themself to do it, either out of embarrassment or the fact they didn’t want Susie to know what their mom was thinking of them they stayed silent.

Susie: Ok thanks mi- I mean Toriel.

Toriel: You’re welcome Susie.

Susie: Come on Kris lets go!

Susie dragged Kris behind her yet again as they dashed out of the house.

Toriel then looked back at Kris’ room and made a realization that made her start to worry.

Toriel: Wait… did they… sleep in the same room?

Notes:

Sorry for another filler chapter I promise things will get interesting soon, I just need to set up a few more things for the real romance to start I know I'm [Taking too long] but next chapter should be more interesting.
