From the Future

Summary:

He knew something was clearly different. His friends look younger, some of them way younger. And most importantly, they were in their school uniforms.

Holy shit.

He’s in the past.

“MIDORIYA?!”

Notes:

Yuhhhhhh I came up with this idea on the fly in the car and rolled with it! Hope you’ll enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Midoriya sighed as he brushed his thumbs along the steering wheel. It was a long day today in his class, as they failed their tests they took last week. Taking a page from Aizawa, he gave them hell and had them do extensive training, making them whine and groan all day.

On top of that, he hasn’t even graded their assignments from yesterday—he hasn’t even eaten the lunch Kacchan made him!

When the light turned green, Midoriya started moving. He was about ten minutes from home and knowing what time it is, his Husband would be home soon–or now. He had both his suitcases; the one for his hero suit and the other for his students' papers.

Suddenly, he got a ping from the hero network.

“We need additional help with a group that's combative; ADW, need another hero, possibly another unit also at the scene,” the static of the coms reiterated.

Midoriya groaned, throwing his head back in exasperation. Even for his love of going out for hero work, it was too late for people to be causing a ruckus, and he’s exhausted. He just wants to go home, eat his husband's food, take a long hot shower, and smother Kacchan with cuddles as they go to bed (and perhaps some light action too).

Apparently however, that will not be happening tonight.

He pressed on the com as he switched lanes, going straight to the area marked. “This is pro hero Deku responding. I'm in the area, heading there now,” he stated.

“Copy that.”

With that, he floored it.

It only took a few minutes to get to the scene, there he could see some destruction and damage to the city, as well as some police force and another hero engaging in what he assumes to be the group causing all of this.

He got his suit on immediately and went on scene, “what’s happening?”

“Theres a group of three that was attacking the city, one of them; male with brown hair has a quirk that works like Kamui Woods and another male with white hair has a spider quirk, the females quirk is unknown,” an officer retorted.

“Got it,” and with that, Midoriya took off.

Despite seemingly having no plan, the group worked well together and managed to evade Deku a few times. Ultimately however, Deku had soon caught them all. The police were moving in, putting them in custody as Deku helped any lingering civilians.

Maybe that’s why he didn’t notice one of them get out and start heading towards him.

He was too late to hear the warning calls of the officers, as he was submerged in a bright light. The sounds of the woman shrieking as she was tackled to the ground were the only thing he heard before being blinded.

Only to then land hard on his ass.

He quickly got up and looked around, trying to assess the situation.

Only to find many pairs of eyes staring back at him.

Not just any pairs of eyes.

But his friends' eyes.

There, in all their glory, staring at him with dropped jaws like he personally starred in the shining.

He knew something was clearly different. His friends look younger, some of them way younger. They all were in the same living room he’s lived in for three years. And most importantly, some of them were wearing their school uniforms.

He could feel his own eyes widen. Holy shit.

He’s in the past.

“Uhm,” he uttered, making some of his past classmates flinch. “Could…one of you go get Aizawa?”

…

“MIDORIYA?!”

~

“Why is it always you?” Aizawa said the minute he saw the older Midoriya. Said Midoriya was currently in front of him, sheepishly scratching the back of his head at the question.

“I could think of a few reasons,” he replied.

They were now situated in the common room, having confirmed that this was in fact the real Midoriya from the future. With Midoriya sitting on the couch holding both his suitcases. The class was crowding the couches, eager to speak to their future classmate and friend.

“Well, at least you didn’t break something,” was all Aizawa replied back with.

“You never know, this might break the fabric of time,” Midoriya chuckled.

Aizawa just sighed, “how did this even happen?”

“Quirk accident on the job,” Midoriya simply said, making Aizawa groan.

“Are you sure this won’t have any lasting effects?” Aizawa asked, to which Midoriya shook his head. “Alright, I’ll leave you to it then, don’t go anywhere,”

“Wait! Can we stay up and ask him questions?” Kaminari asked, putting on his best puppy-dog eyes he could muster.

Aizawa sighed, “fine, I’ll allow it, but don’t be noisy.”

And with that, he left. Leaving Midoriya at the mercy of his past classmates and past self.

Or perhaps the other way around.

“This is so cool, man!” Sero exclaimed, with Ojirou and Jirou backing him up.

“Whats happening in the future right now?!”

“Did we become heroes?”

“Are we popular!”

“Are there any babes I get in the future?”

Midoriya chuckled as he was bombarded with questions. “Alright! Alright! Settle down, I’ll ask questions but one at a time,” he replied, calming them all down.

“This is so cool,” he heard his past self–he’ll call him Izuku–mutter. He chuckled, which made Izuku flinch and flush. He turned back towards everyone.

“Any questions first?”

Todoroki’s hand raised first, and Midoriya picked it.

“Do all of us become good heroes?”

“Yeah! Of course! We’re all very successful in our hero careers, and even have side projects or jobs that are going wonderfully!” he smiled. His answer received some sighs in relief.

“Who’s number one?” Todoroki followed up.

“That would go to our upperclassmen currently, Mirio,” Midoriya smiled softly.

Everyone talked to each other, mainly about how cool it is to know stuff about the future. Midoriya was just excited to spill everything, even if they didn't want to hear anything embarrassing.

Which oh he so will.

He deals with teens, he lives for drama now.

Speaking of…

“Does anyone get together?!” Mina shrieked, a wide, crazed smile on her face.

Then–to everyone’s shock and terror–Midoriya made a similar smile right back at her.

Oh yeah. In fact, there's many in this class that get together with each other,” he said teasingly. Mina paused, her face paling as she realized that he had the power to expose all of them.

Which he was so going to.

“Like…” he drawled before immediately looking at Jirou, who flinched and flushed a bright red. “You!”

“WHAT?! NO! Midoriya! Please!” Jirou shrieked as she tried hiding her red face.

“Spill! Please spill!” Mina pleaded.

“Her and Kaminari are together, dating for a while and have hero agencies right next to each other, it's cute,” Midoriya spilled, a smile on his face as he watched the girls tease Jirou. Meanwhile Kirishima and Sero congratulate Kaminari with pats on the back as Mineta grumbled about unfairness.

Both said people were as red as a strawberry.

Then, Midoriya whipped his head back towards Mina, “don’t think you’re off the hook. You’re married,” Midoriya said, smirking at the flushed face Mina had.

“WHAT?!”

“With Kirishima!” he exclaimed.

“Ooh~!” The girls cooed, teasing Mina now while Kirishima was a strawberry.

“Midoriya! Why do you become so cruel in the future!” Mina whined to Izuku, who flinched in surprise and laughed nervously.

“Sorry.”

“Who else! Who else!” Hangakure asked.

“Well, Kuroiro and Komori from class 1-B are together as well, but they’ve only recently started dating in the future,” Midoriya stated. Knowingly avoiding his own marriage with his Kacchan, only to save them the struggle of comprehending it.

“What about you? How are you in the future mon ami?” Aoyama asked, a little nervous.

Midoriya smiled softly, “I’m doing great in the future,” he paused before leaning in–as if it’s a secret, “don’t tell Aizawa…but I started teaching at Yuuei!” he exclaimed.

“WHAT?!” The class yelled, getting more and more shocked by the minute.

“Midoriya…teaching?” Sero said, perplexed. “Wasn’t he just frozen in fear during interview practice?” he joked.

“Hey!” Izuku exclaimed, flushing a bright red.

Midoriya laughed, “ah, I remember being so terrified of interviews. Now I honestly love messing with them,” he chuckled.

“R-Really?” Izuku looked at him, astounded.

“Yeah…honestly the paparazzi is a joke, it’s fun to say something so out of pocket to them just to get a reaction,” Midoriya joked.

“I’d never thought you’d become so confident Midoriya!” Mina said.

Midoriya just laughed, “comes with growing up I guess.” ‘or going to war’ he thought.

Then, unbeknownst to him, his stomach grumbled.

Momo stood up, “I’ll make you something Midoriya!”

“Ah! No need!” Midoriya said, but then paused, “but…a cup of coffee would be nice.”

“Midoriya drinks coffee now? such revelry," Tokoyami noted.

“Hey, teaching kids is exhausting. I can totally relate to Aizawa now,” he pouted as he opened his brown suitcase. The class noticed he also had a green metallic suitcase as well.

“What’s that?” Hangakure asked.

“That’s my hero suit,” he answered as he got out his students papers. Hopefully he can finish these before he goes home, that way he can just relax. He also got out the lunch his Kacchan made for him, which Mina noticed.

“Oh? Someone made you lunch?” she grinned, making some unnoticed glances at Uraraka.

Midoriya grimaced. Oh boy…he did not want to open her can of worms, because unfortunately she still sometimes has moments of grief for Toga. “Yeah, someone made this for me,” he just ended up saying.

“WHAT! First Kaminari, then Kirishima, now Midoriya has a hot babe on his side! Unfair!” Mineta groaned and cried.

“I can make things worse for you; Kirishima, Todoroki, and Kacchan are all the top ones on the heroes ‘bachelors list’” Midoriya deadpanned, not even looking up from his papers as he started grading them.

“WHAT!” Mineta shrieked.

“There's a bachelors list for heroes now?” Ojirou asked no one.

Momo then came into the common room, bringing not only coffee for Midoriya, but tea for everyone else. What a godsend she is. Everyone got comfortable, still asking him some mundane questions now that he’s focused on something else.

Kaminari looked over his shoulder, looking at him grading the papers and grimaced. “Dude, you gonna loosen up on your students man?”

Midoriya continued to grade and eat. “If they don’t do well, they’ll never make it. I’m just grading fairly. History is super important, especially now in the future,” he explained.

“Oh yeah? This is just their homework though,” Kaminari whined. He’s not even in his class and he's whining about the homework. Midoriya just huffed out a laugh.

“Well, I’d hope this is their homework. If this were their tests, they’d be running twenty laps around Yuuei yesterday,” he snarked without looking up. Everyone sweatdropped at the serious tone. Oh dear, it seems Izuku will take a page out of their teacher's book in the future.

“Who is in your class? I’m curious about the next generation of heroes,” Shouji asked, making Midoriya look up.

“Well, I have a student you all know currently,” he informed, making people look around in confusion, “Koda, the one you all met during your training camp” Midoriya told.

Izuku took the information with stars in his eyes. “Koda is becoming a hero?! He decided to become a hero!” Izuku exclaimed, ecstatic.

“Yeah, and he’s actually one of my top students!” Midoriya laughed, taking a sip of his coffee.

“The brat has spunk huh?” Bakugou, after being silent for the entirety of his visit, finally spoke.

Midoriya set his coffee down, “yep, he’s quite the brat when he wants to be, but he’s a great kid and a good student,” he smiled.

Midoriya then chowed down on his lunch. Everyone was calming down after the excitement, so now everyone was talking amongst each other, or watching what Midoriya was doing.

After he was done, he continued to grade papers, answering whatever questions people had leftover. When he was done, he slumped on the couch with his coffee, taking a heavy sip from it.

That is…until Mina spit out her tea and started choking.

Jirou slapped her back to stop her choking, many asking if she was okay. She certainly didn’t look okay, as she stared at Midoriya in complete shock.

“YOU’RE MARRIED?!” she shrieked as she pointed at his hand holding his coffee.

The hand with his wedding band on it.

Oh dear…

“MIDORIYA?!” The class then shrieked after her, flabbergasted.

“You tried hiding this from us! After spilling our future beans!” Jirou whined, tugging at her aux cords.

“Yeah dude! Not manly!” Kirishima yelled.

“Who is it! I think I know!” Mina tried teasing him as she made eyebrows at Uraraka.

“It’s not Uraraka, if that’s what you’re suggesting,” Midoriya said casually as he set his coffee cup down. “But the person I’m married to is in this class,” he smirked.

“WHAT!” The class shrieked.

“WHA–!” Izuku flushed bright red as he looked at both Mina and Uraraka for suggesting her. Uraraka was also flushed, though only a little bit after revealing it wasn’t her.

“M-Midoriya you dog!” Mineta grumbled.

“W-Wait! Who is it! Mina, Jirou, and Uraraka are out!” Kaminari conspired.

“That leaves Hangakure, Tsuyu, and Momo!” Mina exclaimed, turning to the three with metaphorical devil horns.

“Come on! They don’t like Midoriya like that! Their way too casual around him, no offense Midoriya,” Sero said.

“None…taken?”

“So who could it be?” Mina mumbled, confused.

“Oh?” Midoriya snarked, making everyone turn towards him, “I never said it was one of the girls.” He took a sip of his coffee.

…

“WHAT?!” “HUH?!” “HAH?!”

“W-Wait Midoriya! You’re gay?!” Sero turned towards his classmates, who looked just as startled. Izuku flushed bright red.

“N-No! Maybe?! I don’t know?!” he shrieked.

Midoriya laughed, making everyone turn their heads towards him again. “Well, can I not like both? Besides, It’s not much that I like both, it’s just more that I like one person and only one person, you figure it out,” he winked.

Let the chaos unfold.

“WHO IS IT?!”

“Midoriya you greedy scum!”

“This makes so many more possibilities!”

“Just put everybody next to Midoriya and whoever he blushed most towards is it!”

“What?! No! Don’t do that!”

Midoriya just sipped his coffee as he watched.

“Midoriya! Come on- give us a hint!” Hangakure whined.

“Alright,” the class went silent, “they're the most important person to me.”

Everybody groaned, whining that it’s not a good hint.

However he would say it was a great hint, almost too easy. As he saw a lightbulb appear above Todoroki, Momo, Tokoyami and most importantly, his and Kacchan’s heads.

“Oh!” Momo covered her mouth as she saw the smirk Midoriya gave her as she realized. She turned to see her classmate Midoriya and Bakugou gape wide open with completely red faces. “Oh.”

He just chuckled lightly and sipped the last of his coffee.

“Who is it! Momo, did you get it!” Kaminari looked towards her.

“WHAT?!” They turned to see Bakugou with a flushed face, looking seconds away from exploding as he yelled at the older Midoriya.

“Bakugou! Do you know?” Mina had stars in her eyes.

“Of course he figured it out,” Midoriya said, “because it is him.”

…

“Say that again?” Kaminari said.

“I’m married to Kacchan in the future,” Midoriya smiled softly.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t Bakugou that exploded, but the entire class did. They were all over him with questions, some believing he was joking. It was only once they realized it was dead serious that they just stared off into space.

“I…would never imagine that those two get married…much less acquainted,” Ojirou said, getting some nods in return.

“Ah, well things change. Plus Kacchan is way too cute,” Midoriya said, making Bakugou hissed with threats of dying.

Despite the initial shock, Mina recovered quickly, “wait! Who asked who first!”

Ah, Midoriya’s favorite subject.

Loving his husband.

“Kacchan confessed first, but I’m the one who proposed to him first,” Midoriya puffed his chest out, preening.

Mina squealed and some of the boys snickered.

“Damn, does blasty ever get…less hissy?” Sero dared to ask, narrowly avoiding an explosion to the face.

“Kacchan becomes softer, he's so cute! He makes me lunches for when I work, and when I flirt with him he gets all shy and blushy!” Midoriya gushed.

The boys cackle as they tease Bakugou.

“Man dude! You turned into a total housewife in the future!” Kaminari joked, but unfortunately he wasn’t quick enough to avoid being blown up.

“Shut the hell up! What the fuck!” Bakugou blushed, thoroughly embarrassed at his future self.

“Kacchan still is his normal self! He loves being out doing hero work and loves blowing stuff up, sometimes during his patrol he’ll show up at my classroom while I’m teaching, the students love it when he does that,” Midoriya says.

“Dude you’re so gone in the future! Midoriya turned you into pudding in the future!” Sero exclaimed with tears in his eyes from laughing.

“ARG! Shut up!” Bakugou screeched.

“Hey.”

They all flinched and turned their heads to Aizawa, who looked at them with a stern gaze.

“Go to bed.”

They all nodded their heads and quickly rushed to clean up before scattering everywhere to get to their rooms.

Midoriya chuckled as Aizawa came up to him.

“When do you think you’ll leave?”

“Want me gone that badly? I think I’ll leave in the morning,” he teased before answering. Aizawa merely hummed in reply.

“I’m quite proud of you,” Aizawa told him softly.

“You overheard everything, right?” Midoriya smiled at him. Aizawa just huffed.

“I can’t believe you’ll still be a thorn in my side after you graduate,” he grumbled.

“Well, I’ll always be a problem child through and through,” he ended up replying with before they shared good nights. Midoriya rested on the couch, smiling at the eventful end to his day he had. Now that they got him thinking about his Kacchan, he can’t wait to get home and see him.

He closed his eyes, thinking about all the things he’d do once he got home. His previous thoughts returned before this entire incident. He wants to take a long hot shower, eat dinner with Kacchan and chat about their day, smother him with cuddles.

He sighed, finally feeling the day weigh on him as he succumbed to sleep.

~

Bakugou heard the door open to his home, as he looked to see his idiot husband skitter in the genkan. He was serving dinner when he got the phone call that he was in a quirk accident while on a job. Apparently, from what they’ve gathered from the suspects, the lady who used her quirk on him has a time travel quirk–which, fucking broken–and so there wasn’t much they could do other than wait.

He waited for a total of 4 hours and 26 minutes.

“Oi,” he acknowledged, making Midoriya turn to him and smile brightly.

“Kacchan…” Midoriya said breathlessly as he walked over to him and hugged him, stuffing his face into the side of his neck. Bakugou huffed.

“How was a blast from the past?” he asked, smirking. He felt the man smirk along his neck.

“It was quite fun, very eventful,” he murmured on his neck.

“Well, tell me at the table, get moving,” he snarked. Midoriya immediately headed to the table as Bakugou grabbed the food. Both were ready to end the day with dinner.

He was also ready to hear the chaos his husband unfolded.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed!!!!!!!!

I know I didn’t add much reaction or reading time for the past versions of bakudeku but I really didn’t know what to put for them😭 I wanted to focus more on everyone else tbh but I think that came to bite me in the ass cause they got left out entirely.

But besides that I did hope you all enjoyed it!
