Work Text:

Remus–the lucky bastard–had a dorm all to himself on account of his appointed roommate never showing up at the start of the year. And despite how over a whole semester had passed since it seemed that no one would be moving in, something that Janus would have been be a lot more jealous of than he was if it hadn’t been for the fact that he was spending most of his free days there with Remus and taking every opportunity to enjoy the rare chance of privacy with him.

It was something that had been happening often ever since the shitty house party that they had met at, a party which they had then both promptly ditched in favor of making out somewhere without interruptions and stupid drunk people.

They did actually share one class together, but it was the first time they had talked and Janus wouldn’t have guessed that he would enjoy Remus’ company as much as he did, having been wary of how loud and impulsive he seemed and quite honestly not having been there for anything else than a free drink and a break from his studying, and maybe a very nice chance to people watch.

If he was being honest he would say that his eyes had quite quickly fixed on Remus, recognizing him vaguely, and apparently not at all being at all as inconspicuous as he had hoped as just a few minutes later Remus had plopped down right next to him.

And he had quickly found out he had been entirely right about Remus being loud and impulsive but he had also turned out to be surprisingly fun, unexpectedly smart, and a very good kisser, the latter which Remus had spent the past few months proving to him over and over, and despite Janus’ best efforts not to waste time getting close to anyone he really couldn’t seem to quite get rid of, or get tired of Remus. Or of kissing him.

He had long since decided that there was nothing wrong with having a bit of casual fun outside of his studying, and this evening was no different, even if there were probably at least ten other things he should have been doing after his classes had ended, some more urgent than others and all of which he had pushed aside once he had stepped outside of the lecture hall to see Remus waiting for him, standing there leaning against the wall and grinning at the sight of him.

It was a choice Janus really wasn’t regretting, not with Remus sitting in his lap and kissing his breath right from his lungs, and he would learn to prioritize his studying and his other needs some other day when Remus fingernails weren’t leaving goosebumps in their trail along his spine.

Janus let a hand tangle in Remus hair, the other grabbing a fistful of his strange, ripped shirt, held together by safety pins and some sort of green ruffles, and Janus wasn’t all too worried about giving Remus reason to add a few more safety pins as he pulled him nearer, felt how Remus’ grinned into it, and felt Remus racing heartbeat against his knuckles, mirroring Janus’ own as Remus trailed open-mouthed kisses along his jaw.

Then frustratingly enough he pulled back, just enough to meet Janus’ eyes, palm of his hand cradling his face and looking so unfairly and annoyingly attractive with his messy hair and that mustache that no one should be able to pull off.

“Whatcha thinking ‘bout?” Remus asked, voice almost hushed, and it was his usual and obvious attempt to get at any sexy ideas he might be having, ideas that Janus generally had plenty of but none which were at the forefront of his mind the way they should be, not now when Remus had stopped being so wonderfully distracting. Janus bit his lip, letting his hand slide down to rest on Remus’ thigh.

“You, obviously.” He said, going for both true and exactly what Remus wanted to hear.

“Mhm, and?” He said, full of hope in the kind of way that only really tempted Janus to be annoying, to ruin the moment a little bit.

“Honestly?” Janus asked, watching how Remus’ eyes lit up with expectation, and he just couldn’t resist disappointing him.

“Today’s soup and sandwich combo at Pat’s diner.” He admitted, his words instantly affirmed by how his stomach growled just at the mention of it, unnecessarily loud in the silence that his words left between them.

Remus stared at him, seeming unsure what to say for just a moment and it might be the first time Janus had actually managed to surprise him into silence, an achievement that did not last long at all before Remus leant his head back with a loud laugh.

“Yeah?” Remus said once he managed to meet his eyes again, visibly holding his laughter in, and Janus huffed.

“I had to skip lunch to bullshit an essay that I completely forgot about.” He lamented. He had really not had an option, and of course not as much as an energy bar at the bottom of his bag either. But what he would have no matter what was a good grade.

“Alright then, fair.” Remus said, still grinning as he leaned in to press another kiss to Janus mouth, teeth nipping at his lower lip before pulling back again, and then he was getting off of Janus, slipping down from his lap and onto the floor before crossing the room and leaving Janus sitting on his bed, staring after him with a little more confusion than he would admit to and wondering if Remus had somehow gotten the impression that he hadn’t been enjoying the kissing.

Remus looked back at him, raising his brows as he saw him still sitting there.

“Well? You want your soup and sandwich combo or not?” He asked, one hand on the door handle as he pressed his feet back into his shoes, and Janus wasn’t sure what he had expected but apparently not that. It might be the hottest thing Remus had ever said to him.

“My treat.” He added with a wink and Janus slid down from the bed, following Remus almost uncertainly.

“Why, Remus, if you aren’t careful I might think you’re trying to seduce me.” He said, sarcasm near palatable in his voice as he reached for his jacket, seeing how it only made Remus’ smile widen.

"Can’t have you distracted by your empty stomach when I’m giving you the best blowjob of your life, can I?" He said wisely and Janus scoffed, rolling his eyes at Remus as he put his shoes on but not complaining as he was grabbing his hand and pulling him along.

Janus glanced at him out of the corner of his eye as they made their way through the corridor towards the exit, their hands still clasped between them, and Janus found himself with the worrying thought that as much as this–whatever this was–wasn’t supposed to be anything more than casual fun; it might start to be if he wasn’t a little bit more careful.
