Work Text:
Everyone in this grand hall may be masked—hiding in plain sight with nothing more than pieces of a vast array of fabrics covering their faces—but Roy would know the man crafted from pure gold making his way down the grand staircase anywhere.
Roy finds he is no longer capable of breathing as he watches this gilded being descend the steps in a simple white button up, a perfectly form-fitting burgundy waistcoat, and scandalously tight black slacks. A matching burgundy mask with swirls of black and lined with golden lace covers the top half of Edward's face and a smile tugs at his lips as their eyes meet across the ballroom floor.
He is rooted to the spot—unable to do anything but stare as Ed makes his way through the crowd towards him. Once they're standing almost toe-to-toe, that smile turns into a beaming grin that makes it seem as though the sun has found its way indoors and next thing Roy knows, Ed's holding his hand out palm-up and tilting his head to the side.
"Wanna dance?"
