A Visit to the Desert

Summary:

Six weeks after saving the world together, Zelda and Ganondorf finally reunite for a long overdue meeting in the desert. Given the history of their people, they both agree that keeping their relationship under wraps is for the best.

Unfortunately, they're about as subtle as Ganondorf's sand seals.

The next four days of their lives promise chaos, baby goats, and hammock snuggles.

Epilogue to A Voice from the Desert.

(Not on hiatus, I'm just slow these days.)

Notes:

Welcome back, everyone! It's been six weeks since I posted the last chapter of AVftD... so it felt fitting to pick it up here.

There will be fluff, silliness, goats -- and still a bit of heartfelt emotional moments, though I promise we're not gonna get into anything too heavy. (I promise, no Lynels will ruin the trip this time.)

My darling readers, you stayed by me, even when I cruelly took desert shenanigans away from you. Hopefully, this multi-chapter epilogue will make up for that. ;)

Chapter 1: A Pre-Visit Letter Interlude

Chapter Text

Dear Gan,

Though it is the middle of the night, I can hardly sleep. The excitement that flows through me at the thought of seeing you so soon is keeping me awake. I can scarcely believe these last six weeks have finally passed — truly, it feels like an eternity since last I had you in my arms. I’m scheduled to be there in a week, to finally have you again. And I will have you again.

I do hope you’re prepared for all that entails.

How are you fairing? Please tell me you are not still making your poor Sunblades inspect every crack and crevice in Gerudo Town? They deserve rest, Ganondorf, and you do, too. While your dedication to cleanliness is admirable, I am slightly concerned that your people may mutiny if you continue on this way. Please, consider the sanity of all involved.

In case you are not awake, know that once I finally do get to sleep, I hope to dream of you. I miss you, more than I thought myself capable of missing anyone. The four days I will get to spend with you will not be enough, so we will simply have to make the most of them.

Speaking of, you’ve yet to send me the itinerary I requested. While the Ambassador Meetings were handled with a measure of spontaneity, I would much prefer to know what you have planned for my time there. You know it would settle my nerves to have some idea what to expect. I’m starting to think you’re withholding it from me on purpose.

Please understand that however much you make me suffer, I shall return it to you tenfold.

Think on that, my king.

Yours,

Zelda

~*~*~*~*~

Zelda,

You miserable vixen. Tempting me with suffering in the middle of the night is a dirty tactic I would have thought quite beneath the soon-to-be queen. And you know how your depravity excites me.

Think on that, my little enchantress.

If you must know, yes, I still demand only the highest standards not just from my Sunblades, but from all of my people. We have goats, Zelda. They are messy, filthy creatures who are constantly degrading the quality of this town.

I do delight in imagining those blasted beasts running off with one of your sandals, just so you will understand a fraction of the pain they’ve caused me.

Everything else is in place. Nezra is set to join the Junior Elite the day after tomorrow, which has been a trial in itself. I’m not entirely convinced she’s ready for this. Her skill with weaponry is unparalleled — save for my own — but socially, she still lacks quite a few fundamentals, and that miserable brat she traveled with for the last several months has done her no favors.

Zelda, for all the love I bear you, understand that I will declare war if you attempt to smuggle that boy into my sands. This is not some playful jab or tease. I’ve made minimal headway with Nezra, for she is aggressively stubborn, and his presence would only do her more harm. He will die if I see him again anytime soon.

As for your itinerary, yes, I am withholding it. I have plans, and you will simply have to go along with them. While you are here, you will be under my command, my dear. Do try to temper your expectations accordingly.

Speaking of, I have given thought to our discussions regarding our… relationship. My people are quite tense about your visit. Introducing you to them as not only Hyrule’s upcoming queen but as my own will complicate their reception greatly. There will be far too many questions that I am in no mood to deal with presently. And of course you are right — this will shape their judgement of you. You, my ferocious Princess, deserve to stand upon your own shining merits and have them see you for who you are.

We shall simply have to be discreet while I ravish you senseless.

Until then.

~*~*~*~*~

Ah, so you are awake! And in a mood, I see. I take it that my advice to relax has continued to be ignored? My dear king, you are going to stress yourself into an early grave. Or else turn all your hair gray… which, admittedly, is not a terrible look on you.

First, let me assure you that Link is not with me. He has yet to return from Ikana, which I imagine will disappoint Nezra. However, he did send her a token of sorts, which I hope to give her upon my arrival, as long as you promise not to raze my kingdom in response. I know how dramatic you can be.

I am glad to see we are on the same page regarding our courtship. While I assure you that I do not wish to hide anything, I worry that given the history between our people, it may complicate relations and end up a detriment to repairing the damage that has been done. We will tell them when the time is right. Though I confess, I do wish we could tell your mother. She’s so dear to you, and I would very much like to earn her approval. I am quite looking forward to meeting her.

Now, about this itinerary… As exciting as it will be to have you commanding me, the stress of the unknown will have severe consequences. Can you not give me at least some hints? Does our time together depend on your people being able to clean every speck of sand from the tiles of Kara Kara first?

Or are you simply withholding the itinerary because “ravish you senseless” is the only thing you have written down?

~*~*~*~*~

Are you hopeful that the itinerary is only how often I’ll have you in my bed, my dear? Then you may be disappointed to find that I intend to take you elsewhere. And since I know what a filthy minded little thing you are, I do mean that I shall show you around my homeland, not simply have my way with you at every turn.

Though rest assured, I will take my fill, Zelda.

~*~*~*~*~

If you carry on this way tonight, darling, it will only result in you frustrating yourself again. Shall I tell you how comfortable I am, lying here in nothing but your robe?

~*~*~*~*~

Vile temptress.

~*~*~*~*~

I am the one attempting to have a civilized conversation! There is much to discuss before my arrival.

~*~*~*~*~

The only thing left to discuss is how well you plan on taking orders.

~*~*~*~*~

Unfortunately, my king, I have been known to be rather disobedient.

~*~*~*~*~

Zelda.

~*~*~*~*~

Ganondorf.

Now, the hour is quite late, and I’m afraid I actually do need to be getting some rest. I am excited beyond measure to see you again, and to discuss this particular topic more in person. The thought of seeing you again, of holding you in my arms once more…

The day cannot come soon enough.

~*~*~*~*~

There is only one week left, so long as you have not changed your mind. If you choose to stay away, I could hardly blame you.

~*~*~*~*~

That is a lie, and we both know it. You would pitch a fit that would make the heavens shudder. But rest assured, there is nothing that could ever change my mind about you. Do not think that time nor distance will ever weaken my resolve. I love you, Ganondorf Dragmire.

~*~*~*~*~

And I love you, my fair Princess.

~*~*~*~*~

Goodnight, my wonderful king.

~*~*~*~*~

Sav’orr, beloved. I shall see you in one week’s time.

~*~*~*~*~

See you soon.
