Baby, Let's Go Home

Summary:

Urbain is at the office way too late. Harmony has to drag him out of there, as usual. But at least, this time, there's an end in sight.

Notes:

It's time to drag Urbain out of that CEO chair again and get him home. Again.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Urbain sighs. He’s pacing around his office, scrolling on his tablet. He should probably be at his laptop, properly looking over these charts, but none of it makes sense. There’s clearly something very wrong with these numbers, but he cannot for the life of him figure out what it is that is causing these discrepancies. Why are these projections not lining up with what he anticipated?

“For fuck’s sake!”

He shouldn’t be swearing. The CEO of Quasartico Inc. needs to remain calm. Urbain has to stay level headed if he wants to fix this mess. He should probably sit down and take a deep breath; he’s running his hands through his hair as sets his glasses up there.

He’s seen enough. Obviously, that’s not true, but as Urbain pinches the bridge of his nose, inhaling deeply again, he wishes he could just put everything down and stop worrying about it. Why did he have to be handed what must be the most stressful job he can think of? Of course, he’s very grateful for what he’s been given, and it would be a lie to say he feels worthy of his position, but there really are days where he wishes he wasn’t in this position. There are days where he wishes he could just go home and leave all his worries in the office. Why couldn’t he just have a normal job?

Another deep breath. For the first time in what feels like ages, Urbain takes in his surroundings. Does he really need such a large office? Yes, given that he meets with clients in here, but at the same time, is this space not wasted on him? The windows go from floor to ceiling; the city truly is gorgeous from up here. A smile tugs on the corners of his lips as he watches the people below. Part of him misses the days where he was running around those streets; he misses the days he would be bumping shoulders with Harmony, pointing out everything he had a fun fact about as she munched on a Lumiose galette. He misses the days where he was free to do as he pleased; has Urbain ever truly been free, though?

Another sigh breaks from his lips as he returns to his desk, letting his body fall into his chair and his tablet onto the mahogany surface. He really should finish this project. He needs to go home, but he needs to finish this first. If he doesn’t finish this, things will only be prolonged, and Urbain doesn’t have time to gamble with time. He has a deadline that he cannot push back; if anything, that deadline might be pushed forward if life hates him ever so slightly.

It’s a bad habit, his fingers hovering over a half empty mug. Coffee at this hour sounds like a disaster, but it’s probably better than a glass of whatever nice bottle of alcohol the last client had gifted him. He’s not supposed to be drinking on the job, even if it’s driving him insane. But one glass won’t hurt anyone, right?

Brown liquid crashes against the walls of the glass bottle. It’s a bad idea. Urbain really shouldn’t open it. He should leave it on the shelf, leave it as a decoration left untouched, but that would be a waste, wouldn’t it? And he’s never been a fan of waste…

“Whatcha got there?”

The glass bottle clanks against the wooden shelf as Urbain hurriedly puts it back. He’s like a child caught with his hand in a cookie jar; heat rises into his face as he presses his back to shelf, hiding whatever it was he had his hands on.

“Nothing!”

Light laughter fills the air as Harmony leans her shoulder against the doorframe. She’s all dressed up, clearly coming back from a nice dinner with Lida if Urbain remembers correctly. She was either with Lida or Naveen; regardless of who it was, Harmony clearly had a good time. Her smile is bright; she’s as breathtaking as ever.

“Nothing, huh?”

“Absolutely nothing.”

Why does Urbain feel so nervous? It’s just Harmony. She won’t do anything to him. And she’d be the first to encourage him to break the rules. But as she draws closer, he feels his heart hammering in his chest as his hands grow sweaty. She is the last person he wanted to know of his rebellious ways; she’s the last person he wants disappointed in him.

“So not even,” warm fingers trace the line of his jaw, “a nice bottle of liquid courage? Y’know,” they make their way down his neck and across his shoulder, “the one I should’ve taken before you put me in a state where I cannot drink? Because,” Urbain feels his breath hitch as Harmony presses her body close to his, her hot breath on his lips, “that’s a damn nice bottle you got there, Lucille.”

Urbain lets himself melt into the kiss. There are few things better than getting to kiss Harmony, so when the opportunity presents itself—which is often enough—Urbain is sure to take it. He will always melt into her kisses as his hand finds her cheeks.

“And the bottle will remain untouched until you can reach it.”

Harmony pulls a face as Urbain pulls away to put said bottle on the top shelf, behind a glass panel. Admittedly, he has to stretch a bit to get it up there, pushing himself onto his tiptoes, but no one needs to know that. No one needs to know that the untouchable CEO of Quasartico Inc. can barely reach the top shelf of the display in his office.

“That’s extremely rude of you, y’know.”

“No alcohol for you.”

“Which, again, is rude. And your fault.”

“I will gladly take the blame as long as you keep being good.”

Harmony sighs as she pushes herself onto his desk. Her legs dangle as she watches Urbain who is not moving; he takes her in, all of her beauty and all of her. Really, has there ever been such a beautiful woman before? Or has Urbain just been blessed?

Another kiss won’t hurt anyone. It definitely won’t hurt Harmony who immediately runs her fingers though his hair, pulling him closer and pushes his glasses across the desk. And anyway, it’s not like there’s anyone around that could be bothered by such a display of affection; it’s just the two of them.

A gasp breaks from Harmony’s lips as Urbain pulls at the sensitive skin of her neck. Her heel digs into the back of his thigh, pulling him against the desk, keeping him close to her. And who is Urbain but a man more than happy to oblige? How is it that they say? Happy wife, happy life?

“If you want more, you’ll have to wait until we get home, Harms.”

“Then get your ass in gear and get me in bed, Mr. President.”

Urbain sighs as he lets his chin drop onto Harmony’s shoulder. The better part of him wants to pick her up and bring her to the car, bring her home, and make her breathe nothing but his name, but he knows he should probably get these damn fucking charts in order before indulging in such pleasures. It is partly due to said pleasures that he has such a strict deadline, after all.

“I…” He pulls back, pressing a quick kiss to Harmony’s lips before pushing his way out of her grip. “I really gotta finish this up first.”

“Oh c’mon, Urbain! It’s late!”

“I know! I know! I just… I really need to finish this. The sooner, the better. Otherwise,” his hand finds her waist before moving onto her stomach, “I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to get the year off. It’s already a miracle that I managed to work something out to potentially get it approved. But if I fall behind on this project, I… I don’t want to leave you at home, all alone. I promised you I would be there, giving you everything you want, but that also means that these last few months are going to be hell on me. But I promise,” a kiss is pressed to Harmony’s forehead, “I promise you Harmony,” another kiss to her cheek, “I promise with every fiber in my body,” he lowers himself just enough to press a kiss to her stomach, “I will be there. I finish this project, and I’m all yours. All of me. Every second will be dedicated to you. Every waking breath,” another kiss to her stomach before looking up to find shimmering gray eyes, “will be spent taking care of both of you.”

She really is the most gorgeous woman in the world. She’s beautiful, from the way her lips quirk at the corner into a smile to the way she rolls her eyes. She’s gorgeous, addictive, amazing. And she, this beautiful, intelligent, wonderful woman, is the best thing to have ever happened to Urbain. How lucky is he to have found her? How lucky is he to have her say yes to carrying their child?

“And,” Harmony snorts as Urbain presses yet another kiss to her stomach, “I cannot wait to meet you.”

“And I cannot wait for her to be out of me!” Urbain feels a little bad about that; Harmony hasn’t exactly had the best time with the pregnancy. “I didn’t even get to finish my meal without being hit with a wave of nausea!”

Urbain’s brow furrows as he pushes himself back onto his feet. “The pills aren’t helping?”

“Nope!”

Harmony pops the p as she leans back onto the desk. She’s been nauseated for the last six months, and everything she’s tries has either done nothing or made her even more ill. And grumpy. And when she’s nauseated and pissed because her mother told her to make sure to be drinking plenty of water and eating frequently and that will make the nausea go away, but the very thought of food makes Harmony gag, or because she’s come home from another doctor’s appointment with a prescription that probably won’t do her much good, all Urbain can do is be extra gentle with her. And even then, it’s a gamble whether or not she’s going to snap at him. Or be running to the bathroom because the smell of her supposedly soothing tea was too strong.

Harmony sighs as she places her hand on her stomach. She leans back again, stretching her back; Urbain’s hand immediately finds the small of her back, holding her upright. And when she sits back up again, her arms wrap around his neck.

“I will continue to blame you for all of my suffering.”

“And I accept being blamed for it.” One more kiss is pressed to Harmony’s lips. “It’s all my fault you’ve been suffering as much as you have.”

“It is, and the only way to make it better is by coming home with me and showing me a good time.”

Urbain sighs, but the smile is easy on his lips. He isn’t sure if she’s gotten more demanding and bossier in the last few months because she knows she will get away with it, or if she’s always been like this. But regardless of when that happened, Urbain knows himself to be weak to Harmony; he’s been weak to her since the very beginning.

“Fine. How about a compromise: we go home, but I bring my laptop with me?”

Now it’s Harmony’s turn to sigh. She sighs, but she also knows this the best deal she’ll be getting out of him. And as Urbain promises that they’re in the homestretch, that these horrendous hours are almost done, something flickers in Harmony’s eyes, something Urbain can’t quite read. It’s not quite disappointment, but it also isn’t hope. It’s… something. It’s something as she wraps her arms around his neck once more, pulling him close in a hug.

“Deal. But only if you also promise me good cuddles when you finally make it to bed.”

“Then we have a deal, my Love.” A kiss is pressed to her ear. “I’ll pack up and I’ll drive us home?”

“You can bet your ass I’m not walking!” More laughter fills the air before calming as Harmony rests her cheek against Urbain’s. “Let’s go home. Let’s get out of this damn office and go home.”

Notes:

Don't ask me what the thought process for this one. This literally started with me just wanted to write sexy Urbain with his blazer off, the top 3 buttons of his nice shirt undone, messy hair, glasses off, sleeves rolled up, and then I didn't even write that. Instead, I somehow got to booze land, which fair. But know that this man is in sexy outfit of Tired At Work. FOREARMS UUGGGHHHH (as we all know, I'm a basic bitch. Women are hot in lacy underwear and men are hot in button downs with their sleeves rolled up. boo I'm basic)

Hey, someone asked me to write more pregnancy stuff (which was a weird ask, but only because it was specifically x reader, which I don't do), so if you're out there, you get this anon. Girlie is having the worst time (also if there's a reddit algorithm, it must be very confused. Because I only use reddit for research purposes, which includes researching morning sickness)

Anyway! As always! Say hi in the comment!
