Work Text:
The three gods were getting ready to depart from their hosts soon, so they were wrapping everything up as much as they were able to. They were currently meeting at Inyeth Lenora, in Morrigan's royal bedroom.
It had only been a few short years. Practically nothing to the lifespan of the gods. But for the mortals there had been significant change. And considering Kaa'Riin, Freya and Morrigan, everyone was more than surprised that the change was good. The three were helping to build back the communities that Dornus had destroyed.
During this time the three gods would often meet up to catch up, and it hurt all of them to think that this would probably be the last time they could do this, in their current hosts.
Kaa'Riin had excitedly presented the new presents she had gotten the girls before they even finished hugging each other.
Freya and Morrigan stared at the bones that they assumed made human hands in confusion.
"Thank you," Morrigan was sincere in her thanks, "But… What are they?" she continued. She gently placed her new bones down on the side table next to her bed, where she and Kaa'Riin had begun to sprawl out.
"Hand bones." Kaa'Riin happily explained as she bellyflopped onto Morrigan's very comfortable bed. One of the many perks of being a Queen.
"Where's Shaylah?" Freya asked. She was looking through Morrigan and Shaylah's things and had gotten distracted and as such had stopped listening.
"She's visiting her family for the evening," Morrigan explained. Shaylah found Kaa'Riin hilarious and loved sharing a pint of Mead for Me with her. But with Freya, she could be in public with her, but not in private, and definitely not in close quarters.
"She still not over the whole killing her thing?" Freya asked as she pocketed a beautiful ring.
Kaa'Riin laughed at the deadpan look that Morrigan gave Freya.
"I don't think so," Morrigan's voice was both flat and exasperated.
"Weird," Freya shrugged as she climbed into the bed to lay in-between Morrigan and Kaa'Riin in the middle of the plush bed, "I figured she'd be over it by now,"
Kaa'Riin snorted with laughter, both at Freya's comment and Morrigan's face.
"I don't think that's how it works," Morrigan was not really sure why she was surprised by Freya's response, but she still slightly was. Morrigan guessed she had hoped that Freya would have matured a bit more over the last few years.
"I'd be over it by now," Freya argued as she held up the bones she was given to look at. They were bound in a delicate wire, but were clasped together so they could be removed or moved.
"Randy Buck," Morrigan shot back.
Both Freya and Kaa'Riin groaned loudly.
"Fuck Randy Buck," Kaa'Riin threw her hands up in anger, small sparks of electricity surrounding her fingers.
Morrigan couldn't help but laugh at their response. This, of course, set the other two off into fits of laughter as well.
By the time the conversation circled back around to the gifted bones, the girls had talked about a dozen other topics.
"Oh shit, the bones, right," Kaa'Riin shifted to find the bones she was keeping. She had put them on Morrigan's bed, but with all the talking and moving around the girls did they seemed to have vanished.
Freya ended up finding them on the floor partially under the bed.
Both Morrigan and Freya had the thumb, ring finger and pinkie all connected to the bones in the palm and wrist. Kaa'Riin had two sets of pointer and middle fingers down to the knuckle that connected them to the palm. Combined the bones made two full hands.
Morrigan's eyes widened and she let out a startled laugh, "Are these the Mayor and Ring Master's hands?"
Kaa'Riin nodded proudly, "Yep," she confirmed, popping the 'p'.
At the confirmation Freya laughed loudly, "Seriously?"
Kaa'Riin giggled, "Yeah, they're a memento of our time together,"
"That's both sweet and disturbing," Morrigan smiled. She was touched by the sweetness, but the bones from the hands they had severed and kept was such a wild gift.
Freya was turning her gift around and giggling.
"I figured, we the gods, could keep them," Kaa'Riin continued as she began to excitedly rock back and forth.
"Why do you get both the rude fingers?" Freya demanded, once it clicked that Kaa'Riin had both.
"Because I kept both the hands and I put in the work for us to have them as gifts," Kaa'Riin defended with a toss of her pink hair.
"But I want one," Freya whined her demand.
"They're mine," Kaa'Riin clutched her fingers to her chest. Though if she wanted to Freya could probably still steal them from her.
Freya pouted before lunging at Kaa'Riin.
The two grappled to get a hold of the fingers. It didn't take long for Freya to get a hold of them and bounce off the bed. Freya knew if Kaa'Riin got a hold of her, she wouldn't be able to leave.
In response to Freya fleeing, Kaa'Riin threw one of Morrigan's many pillows at her.
Hard.
Thankfully it hit.
And Freya, thankfully, fell on her ass.
This time Kaa'Riin lunged at Freya.
Morrigan watched, giggling to herself, as Kaa'Riin and Freya wrestled and ran around her room.
She would miss this.
Morrigan had to call the two to stop when she got kicked in the head. It was from a stray flailing leg when Freya jumped on Kaa'Riin and tackled her onto the bed. It then took a lot of convincing to get Kaa'Riin and Freya to sit back down without fighting.
"Okay Kaa'Riin," Morrigan politely addressed her pink-haired friend, "Would you be open to swapping one of the rude fingers with one of Freya's bones?"
Kaa'Riin pouted, "But they're mine," she whined.
"But you have both!" Freya argued, gesturing wildly. "And, and, and you still have all the gauntlets. So that's, like, ten rude fingers," she pointed accusingly at Kaa'Riin.
"Oh yeah," Kaa'Riin forgot about those, or at least, forgot about counting them.
"I only have like two gauntlets," Kaa'Riin countered with a scoff.
"You have the one from Special K, and the one we got Lewt to get, and that other one," Freya shot back, counting off on her fingers. She was racking her brain trying to remember what is was called.
"Oh, oh!" Morrigan began flapping her hands in excitement. She knew the one Freya was thinking of, but she just couldn't remember the name.
"Oh I always forget about the last one," Kaa'Riin couldn't remember the name of it, "Petty something?" she offered.
"I remember taunting?" Freya added.
"Lord Petty's Gauntlet's of Taunting!" Morrigan exclaimed as the name finally clicked.
"Yes!" Kaa'Riin cheered waving her hands in the air as she shimmed.
"Okay, so that's five rude fingers," Freya was quick to bring it back to what she wanted.
Kaa'Riin heavily sighed, "Fine, I'll swap with you," she reluctantly agreed. The last thing Kaa'Riin wanted was Freya demanding one of her gauntlets.
"Yay!" Freya cheered, clapping in excitement as she began to shake her shoulders in excitement, "Whose hand do I have? Cause I want the matching rude finger,"
Kaa'Riin blinked. She thought it would be obvious, "You have the ring masters hand, cause you did, technically, cut it off,"
"Ohh," Freya drew the word out in understanding.
"Wait, if Freya cut his hand off, then surely she should be able to have whatever finger she wants," Morrigan told Kaa'Riin. It was only fair.
Kaa'Riin flopped back to lay down on the bed with a groan, "But I want the rude fingers,"
"Well it's my hand, and I want the rude finger. So, to be nice, I'll give you the thumb and, like, surrounding bones," Freya's tone carried the entitlement of a baby sister.
"Fine," Kaa'Riin groaned, as she began taking the rude finger off of her kept fingers.
Freya was a lot more giddy as she removed the thumb off her gift. She hadn't stopped shimming in happiness.
Morrigan was smiling widely at the other two sorting this out, "See, it wasn't that hard," she teased Kaa'Riin.
Kaa'Riin's response to Morrigan was to maturely stick her tongue out and screw up her face. This made Morrigan and Freya laugh.
The three gods spent the rest of the night talking and laughing, until Freya and Kaa'Riin left as the sun rose.
