"I think I want to tell people" Ilya looks up at his boyfriends words. Shane is looking adorable with ruffled hair and glasses perched on his nose. Ilya lies on the couch, head in Shane's lap and half-asleep.
"Tell people what?" Asks Ilya, fully twisting onto his back to look up at his boyfriend.
"About us..." Shane's voice is soft but it fills Ilya up like a hot chocolate on a snow day.
"Really?" He asks, quietly as to not break the perfect bubble he finds himself in.
Shane nods. "Would you be okay with that?" He asks shyly. Ilya laughs and tugs Shane down to plant a huge kiss on his lips.
"More than okay! Yes! Will be amazing!" Shane is grinning too, adorable freckled cheeks flushing red.
He presses his forehead to Ilya's. "Can I do huge reveal? Maybe fuck you on the ice?" Ilya asks excitedly. Shane pulls back, glaring at him in that adorable way that makes him look like an angry kitten.
"Ilya." He says sternly. "We are not being that obvious." His face softens. "I thought... subtle things. Let the internet figure it out."
Ilya smiled. That sounded more fun.

The comments go crazy, but sadly, none truly guess why they ate together. Ilya points out that now that they have become "friends" thanks to the Irina Foundation, the public isn't shocked that Hollander and Rozanov could spend time together.

It is enjoyable to witness two hockey players
being incredibly sportsmanlike. Hollander
and Rozanov are truly an example of leaving
rivalry for the games. Their friendship is
inspirational.

"I don't understand, that was so obvious" Says Shane annoyedly. He's standing at the counter, scrolling on his phone. Ilya scoffs from the couch.
"People are stupid. People on internet are extra stupid." He explains like it's simple fact. Shane drops his phone with a clatter as he groans loudly.
"What do we have to do then?" He asks, exasperated. "No." He says before Ilya can say anything that has to do with ice or fucking. Ilya just raises his hands in defence.

Finally the comments start seriously considering a relationship between the two hockey players.
Ilya is giddy at the idea that the secret isn't one anymore. Yet... only a few hours later, the internet is once again conviced that they're friends.
Ilya tells Shane who reacts by waving him off. Ilya would be offended, but the two have a game against each other tonight and they need to get ready.
The game is hard, but two seconds before the buzzer, Shane manages to slip the puck past the goalie and wins the game for the Voyageurs.
Ilya has a hard time looking upset at his boyfriend's win.
Once the celebrations die down slightly, the two teams meet to shake hands. Ilya sees Shane slowly inching towards him and takes a deep breath to prepare himself.
The second Shane's gloved hand touches his own, he tightens his grip and pulls Shane out of the row.
The teams react immediately, but Ilya is faster and Shane is not struggling at all so they just stare. Ilya flicks his gloves off and Shane mirrors him, smiling. The referees are starting to move slowly towards them.
Ilya and Shane stop and Ilya gently unbuckles Shane's helmet, tossing it aside before removing his own.
"What are you doing, Rozanov?" Asks Shane, but his huge smile gives away his excitement.
Ilya takes a huge breath, gliding back a bit. The referees are nearly on them when he drops to his knees.
Shane is gaping at the kneeling Ilya. Hands shaking, Ilya reaches into his suit and pulls out the small box he had kept throughout the game.
"Shane Hollander... will you-" Ilya flicks open the box, lifting it to present it to Shane. "Marry me?" Inside glimmers a beautiful ring, gold with matte black finishes.
The whole stadium is silent, every fan is frozen. The referees are slack-jawed. The pkayers are horrified. Ilya starts to doubt his plan. What if Shane doesn't want him as a husband? What if he leaves?
"Shane..." Ilya says softly.
Shane laughs. A high, loud, beautiful sound.
"You fucking asshole"
Then he drops down next to Ilya and pulls out a box; nearly identical.
"No way." Ilya is astounded as Shane pops open the box, revealing the exact same ring.
"You always have to beat me!" Then a bit softer. "I love you so much".
Then he throws himself into Ilya's arms, knocking them both onto the ice.
"Yes! Yes, you fucking asshole, I want to spend my whole life with you!" Shouts Shane through laughs and tears. Ilya is the same. And as he kisses his fiancée, the world feels right.
The two break apart and they barely have time to whisper "I love you" before the stadium errupts.
Ilya honestly couldn't tell you what the fans thought of the proposal, the shouts were so loud, so confusing, that he had just left. Holding tight to his future husband's hand, they run away.
