Work Text:
Sukuna’s annoying. And it’s not like Yuuji has to be in attendance but Sukuna is practically dragging him out the door.
“It’s good for you to get some social interaction, brat,” his brother snickers as they make their way outside.
“I have a test!” Yuuji grumbles but he follows and slips his sneakers on at the door. He’s not the most studious but that doesn't mean his scores can slip.
Yuuji has no clue why he’s trying to get back into getting an education. Everyday he feels like it’s taking a toll on him.
Plus, it’s his birthday and unfortunately he’ll have to celebrate tomorrow because of this damn exam. Honestly, going out with Sukuna is the most appealing situation. Mentally he’s thanking him.
“If you don't know it by now a couple of extra hours won't help,” it’s kinda snarky but Yuuji doesn't actually think Sukuna’s really wrong though..
“Whatever,” the winter breeze is finally passing and he’s wearing lighter layers, “where are you taking me anyways?”
“You’re entertainment,” Sukuna heads over to his car, it’s a bit obnoxious but it’s absolutely stellar, “my tattooist charges by session rather than hourly, so having you around will keep me awake longer.”
“Entertainment?” he hisses but Yuuji trails after him and sinks into the leather seat, "you're insane, more tattoos?” Sukuna just huffs. “You didn't even tell me you had anything planned?”
Yuuji figures the moment he walks into the studio, Sukuna’s main focus is getting the attention of one of the employees.
Sukuna’s own tattooer is a rugged old man, he’s quite gruff and serious. Yuuji gets what Sukuna means, this guy definitely isn't a conversationalist and Sukuna probably would pass out of boredom then pain.
There’s this one guy though. He’s absolutely beautiful. The way he carries himself is so graceful, he’s probably Yuuji’s height but feels taller, with the most alluring eyes—
“What the hell are you staring at?” Sukuna is grouchy and meets his gaze on the dark-haired male across the room, “hands off.”
“Mhm,” and Yuuji watches as he’s poking around the piercing section, “I was considering getting my ears pierced and I guess since I’m here~”
“You absolute brat,” but Sukuna can't move or his tattoo will simply be fucked. Hah.
“Hey,” Yuuji approaches the man, who spots him and turns from his station. His hair is a bit spikey and he has this threatening look in his eye. Still, up close he’s even more angelic. “Are you free for a quick piercing?”
“Do you have an appointment?” The man doesn't look amused but Yuuji’s no quitter.
“Ah no,” he’s scratching the back of his head now, “came here with my brother and figured why not?”
The guy eyes him a bit, but then a small slight look of amusement runs through his face, “he’s your brother?”
“Yeah,” Sukuna is definitely a handful, but he loves him in his own way.
“Well for our best paying customer’s brother, I can’t refuse,” there’s a twinkle of teasing in his eyes but it lands very monotone and serious. Best paying customer? That has to be a joke.
“Yeah Sukuna’s a big fan of ink,” he mutters, time to get this guy’s name, “I’m Itadori.”
“Fushiguro,” the other man stares at him a bit longer than anticipated, “So what are you thinking of getting?”
“Uh, just like regular ones..?”
“Okay,” and there’s a small laugh. “Come and look at the selection.”
The array of offerings are quite pretty, the studs shine bright under the lights but as Yuuji looks back to make eye contact with Fushiguro he can't help but think his eyes glisten more.
Fushiguro must've been talking because he misses his next words, “--any favourites?"
“We could do these ones,” he points to some simple metallic ball. It’s basic.
Fushiguro hums under his breath, “what about these?” and his hands hovers to some pink gemstone studs, "they'd match with your hair.”
The earrings are cute, Yuuji will give him that, “trying to upsell me?” he jokes, they do seem more pricey compared to the basic pair he was considering.
Fushiguro shrugs, but he leans in closer to Yuuji. Yuuji can practically feel his body heat radiating, somewhere across the room Sukuna is probably livid.
“I mean,” Fushiguro smiles, for the first time since they started talking, “it’ll be cute.” Hopefully cute enough for him to land a date.
“Sure,” the cute guy is convincing him to get cute earrings. What the hell, might as well.
Fushiguro eyes him, “you have ID? You’re over eighteen, right?” Maybe, Fushiguro sees him flustered, as he adds, “or your brother can sign off on it.” How embarrassing.
“How young do you think I look?” Sure, next to Sukuna he may seem younger, but hell.
“Uh,” Now Fushiguro is put on the spot, “It’s a legal requirement I'm just asking.”
Yuuji rolls his eyes a little to himself, gosh, maybe he just fumbled the guy because he looks like a minor. Grabbing his wallet from his back pocket, he hands over his identification, “we’re twins.”
“Uh,” he’s eyeing the card, “so that makes you,” he’s calculating in his head, “twenty four” there’s a slight blush on his cheeks. Like Fushiguro is the one who's embarrassed now.
“Yeah, it’s my birthday today,” he leans against the display case a little, “I’m probably older than you.”
“Only by nine months,” Fushiguro hands back his identification, “Happy birthday,” he says more softly.
“Thanks.”
“If you have any similar pain tolerance as your brother I’m sure you won't feel a thing,” Fushiguro laughs as he goes and picks out the earrings.
Sukuna may have face tattoos but Yuuji does handle pain tolerance in his own way. As Fushiguro sets up the station, Yuuji goes to sit down.
Yuuji laughs a bit, “he’s a bit… extravagant.”
“What about you? What do you do in your spare time?” Fushiguro starts to ask, Yuuji can tell now that he’s trying to stretch out the process of his quick piercing. “Do you have a younger brother? Sukuna mentioned his brother is studying.”
“Nah, that’s me,” and at that Yuuji sinks into the chair and smiles, Sukuna talks about him? "I changed career paths.”
“Ah, what did you do?”
“I’m a boxer,” Fushiguro’s eyes go down to Yuuji’s fists, they are quite bruised up… Yuuji still fights on the side. “I’m retiring though.”
“Retiring at twenty-four?”
“I always wanted to help people,” he watches as Fushiguro sets up the piercing gun, “not to hurt them,” he sounds a bit sappy but it’s true, “I’m trying to become a firefighter.”
“That's honourable," Fushiguro sounds like he has a smile on his face, the words laced with warmth, “or maybe you just suck at boxing.”
“I’m pretty good actually.”
“Yeah?” As Fushiguro lines up and adjusts the spot he’s going to pierce with some sort of marker, “check if you like the placement.”
Yuuji does check, a bit, he doesn't really have a preference, but what's the worst that could happen.. “I trust you.”
“Is that so?” Fushiguro sounds like he’s teasing, and gets ready to peirce. “In 3-2-” and he doesn't even say one before Yuuji feels a bit of a pinch. “Next ear.”
Yuuji doesn't even care that he’s making a permanent decision because of some cute guy, but it’s just earrings. Fushiguro keeps talking, “Too bad you're retiring cause I'll never see for myself.”
“Well, I'm phasing out my retirement slowly.”
“Really now?” Fushiguro was in his space, but now that his earrings are in, he leans back a bit, “It looks good,” and Yuuji glances into the mirror.
“You did a good job,” he compliments, "you're right pink is cute,” now that Yuuji even thinks of it, he didn't even ask for the price of the earrings nor the piercing fee.
“Well, you do have an expensive taste,” Fushiguro’s eyes have a bit of an ominous smile, “those are white gold with pink sapphires.”
“Uh.”
“¥29700,” Fushiguro might just cost him groceries for the week, “you can pay at the front,” and he jolts something on a piece of paper, which Yuuji assumes is the receipt. God, Sukuna is gonna laugh at him badly. “Or,” he slides the paper to him, “you could repay me with dinner.”
Oh? If Yuuji is reading this correctly, that's his phone number… “Okay,” he breaks out into a grin, “I’d love that.”
Oh man, Sukuna is gonna be pissed— he did just manage to land the sweetest birthday treat.
