Summary:

“I can hear you thinking, what’s going on in that brain of yours?” Hitoshi asked, causing Izuku to almost jump as he registered the proximity. Hitoshi was basically talking in izuku’s ear from how close they were.

Izuku looked down, “Uh, nothing important.” He muttered. “Just ab-about howmuchilikeyou.”

or a self indulgent shindeku fic to a song the author cant get out of their head!

Notes:

Work Text:

I was a kid looking for love, full of hope inside. But time was never kind to me, my heart grew cold as ice.

Hitoshi never thought that he would find love. A villains quirk, the way he was treated by foster families, it left him alone. Over the years, his heart hardened as a measure to protect himself. No close connections meant no one could hurt him.

But that all changed the day he met Midoriya Izuku. The teen was skittish in a way that was unusual for a kid with such a powerful quirk. He reminded Hitoshi of himself, which was unnerving, so despite the boys attempt at becoming friends he tried to avoid him like the plague.

That was at least, until he found Midoriya crying alone in the stair well he normally took to get to the roof. Hitoshi felt conflicted, having never been good with tears to begin with, but where were his friends? Shouldn’t they be helping him in his time of need? There was no sign of the brunette girl or the blue-haired boy.

When silent crying turned silent panic, that’s when Hitoshi finally did something. He couldn’t let this go on anymore. “Midoriya? can you hear me?”

All out of luck, thought I was stuck alone for all my life.

Izuku was down on his luck. After meeting All Might, and getting into U.A.’s hero course, he felt like things were going down hill so fast it was suffocating. He had an argument with Uraraka, and Iida had taken her side. They hadn’t talked in weeks and it all culminated for Izuku when he realized they probably wouldn’t be friends anymore.

He was alone again, just like before.

He hadn’t felt this alone since Katsuki turned on him when they were four. He had gotten sued to having friends again that the lonely feeling felt ten times worse than the first time it happened.

“Midoriya? Can you hear me?” He heard a voice say, but he couldn’t respond. He just took in a sharp breath he didn’t realize he needed, screwing his eyes shut as he tried to calm down.

“That’s it, breath Midoriya.” The voice said, “In, 2, 3, 4, good. Out, 2, 3, 4,”

It took a few cycles of this, but Izuku was finally able to calm down and his opened his eyes. Blinking away the excess tears, he was surprised to see Shinsou in front of him. He dropped his eyes to the ground in embarressment that the one he’s been trying to befriend had to see him like this.

“Sorry,” He muttered softly, using the sleeves of his uniform to wipe away the moisture still on his cheeks.

“Don’t apologize for having a panic attack. It happens,” Shinsou replied with a shrug, sitting down on Izuku’s left. “Want to talk about it?”

“Not really, but thanks.” Izuku replied, giving him a small smile.

But I was proven wrong the moment I looked in your eyes.

After that moment, something fundamentally changed for the two of them and they started spending every moment they could together. They became close enough that Izuku shared with him his darkest secret, how he was quirkless until he met All Might. Hitoshi took the new surprisingly well, apologizing for treating him the way he did in the beginning as well.

It didn’t take long for something to shift again, for Izuku at least. He didn’t know what it was at first, but after some research he found out he had a crush on Hitoshi. That flustered him to no end, and Hitoshi’s teasing did nothing to help when it came across as flirting to Izuku. It probably wasn’t, Izuku was probably reading into it too much.

That was until during a class game night, they decided it was time to play seven minutes in heaven and the duo got paired together. The doors closing behind them felt like a death sentence to Izuku’s anxiety.

They stood in silence for a few minutes.

It’s true, until I’m in the grave.

Izuku slapped a hand over his mouth as he realized what he said out loud, eyes widening and cheeks flushing a dark red.

“Is that so?” Hitoshi said, an unknown tone in his voice that made Izuku nervous. “Look at me, Izuku.”

Izuku didn’t move, so after a moment Hitoshi gently tilted his chin up until he could look in his eyes.

“Do you really like me?” Hitoshi asked, searching Izuku’s face for any hints of a lie.

“I do,” Izuku muttered, eyes unable to leave Hitoshi’s now that he was there. “I have, for a uh, a while now.”

“Good,” Hitoshi said with a soft smile, eyes flickering to Izuku’s lips when he nervously wet them.

“I like you too,” He said earnestly, “I also have for a while. So, will you go on a date with me, Midoriya Izuku?”

Darlin’, I’ll love you for a thousand years, dear.

“Yes,” Izuku breathed out, nerves leaving at the returned confession.

“Can I kiss you?” Hitoshi murmured

Izuku gave a subtle nod, chin still in Hitoshi’s gentle grip, and closed his eyes. The kiss was a little awkward, it being both of their firsts, but Izuku thought it was perfect.

“Alright love birds!” Came Mina’s voice as they pulled apart and the door flung open. “Times up!”

Izuku blushed a bright red as soon as the doors opened to the class, but Hitoshi was also quick to let him go to embarrass each other less at being caught.

Izuku gave Hitoshi a shy smile once they took their seats again.

He had a boyfriend now, and he loved Hitoshi so it was a perfect ending.

Time is nothing when I’m here with you.
