For those who reside on Olympus, the cackling sound of Hermes’ laughter wasn’t a rare occurrence; it would often be followed by the shrieks of outrage and promises of revenge of his family from whatever prank he had pulled that day. However, another, you could say the other gods and goddess’ favourite, way of dealing with the restless god was… unorthodox, to put it that way.
Today was one where they employed this tactic.
‘Wait! Wahait, Arehes-’ The younger god pleaded, giggles already penetrating his words; he knew what was coming, it was the sole reason he had been provoking the others. . . Okay, maybe not the sole reason, but pretty close!
Ares only scoffed at that, though a hint of amusement could be detected underneath the hard sound. ‘Yeah, sure kid.’ He rolled his eyes, head bare of his usual helm. The reason? The flailing, gangly, limbs and wings half-sibling he had upside down over his shoulder. Today was gonna be fun. A manic grin spread across his face, the red in his eyes flaring, as if this was a war. In someways, it was. A very one-sided war, thanks to his siblings.
Apollo snorted at his face, melodical mirth across his face.
‘Oh, you’re fucked Little Messenger.’ He grinned at the increased flow of giggles and half-hearted flailing from the godling.
‘Nahah, ‘Poloho, helep mehe!’ The messenger cried out giggly, excitement flashing across his face. It was much easier to read the boy like this; upside down, wings and hair trailing to the floor, his eyes exposed. The flush of embarrassment being overrun by the undeniable fun he was having.
‘Hm.’ Apollo pretended to think, one hand cupping his chin, the other, empty of his lyre, crossed across his chest. ‘Nah. You deserve this, you little shit.’ He smirked.
They reached their destination with the determination of pranked siblings.
‘No! Nohot her!’ Hermes’ giggled out; both brothers ignored them. Apollo flung the door open to Aphrodite’s room, surprising her and her nymphs in the process of brushing her hair. She paused and raised a perfect eyebrow.
‘Need help dealing with this brat.’ Ares grunted, squeezing the thigh of said brat and chuckling darkly at the squawk of surprise and subsequent crumble into laughter. She laughed, a light, airy sound, and waved her nymphs off, before standing. The nymphs giggled amongst themselves at the sight of the messenger god upside down on their half-brother’s shoulder and giggling franticly.
‘Aaph, Ahaphroho, dohohon’t do thihis!’ The youngest pleaded, wings twitching with excitement as he and his sister-in-law made eye contact. She smirked and made a show of rolling up her bracelets as their eyes enlarged.
Ares went to throw him onto the bed, but was stopped as Aphrodite pointed out sweetly, ‘He seems so excited to be upside down, let’s let the kid enjoy his punishment upside down, hmm?’ She crouched to meet Hermes’ eyeline. ‘What did you do to your brothers, huh Baby God?’
Hermes stuttered at the attention, face flushing more and pale wings going to cover his eyes, before squeaking out ‘Ihi, Ihi’m nohot a bahaby!’ To his immense (not really) displeasure, Aphrodite and the other two gods laughed at him; he could feel Ares’ chuckles coursing through his body, adding to his overall… feelings, and watched as Apollo and Aphrodite full out laughed at him!
‘Uh huh,’ Apollo wiped a tear away, before walking closer to his sibling, delighting in the stiffening of his body, which was immediately washed away as Aphrodite smiled and tickled underneath the youngest’s chin. The action caused Hermes to let loose an even higher pitched giggle, much to his embarrassment, and the 3 older gods to share a look. ‘That’s why you’re laughing like a baby, huh?’ Apollo finished.
‘Shuhuhut uhuhup!!’ Hermes giggled out, squeaking as Aphrodite tickled all over his neck, chin, and head wings despite his head shaking.
Apollo gasped fakely, clutching his hand to his heart. ‘How could you! I guess I have to punish you now.’
‘Noho!’
Smirking, he slowly brought his hands to Hermes’ exposed stomach, the little defense he might have had pooled at his neck as their eyes locked onto the claw motioning hands. Apollo noticed this with glee, and slowed his approach, revelling in the increase of squirming. He slowed it even further, until the youngest was giggling so hard he started hiccupping. He and Aphrodite paused, and erupted in laughter as Hermes lay there, his pouting being interrupted by the giggly hiccups jumping from his mouth.
‘Alright, my turn now.’ Ares huffed, before throwing the god of travellers onto the oyster shaped bed, an eyebrow raised at the giggly yelp the action elected.
His arms took quick advantage of the position Hermes had landed in; burrowing straight into their armpits. A noise akin to the mortals’ “keysmash” left his lips, his laughter silent for a good two seconds before it positively erupted out of them. He tried to form words, to banter back at the faint words they could hear being spoken, but every time he tried, cackles, and shrieks would take over. Ares grinned at the bright red, screeching god beneath him, lazily looking behind him at his brother and lover. ‘Come on then. I need some help with this brat.’ His teasing words could barely be heard over the absolute racket Hermes was making. Apollo laughed, and he and Aphrodite climbed on the bed to join the two.
‘Alright, let the Little Messenger breathe.’ Apollo chuckled, noting the almost pout on his brother’s face, glad he had an excuse to smile, otherwise he might have been next.
‘Fine.’ Ares grumbled, moving to squeeze to the meat of Hermes’ belly, eliciting a loud squeal and more hiccupping giggles. This break in techniques and spots allowed Hermes’ to breathe but also allowed him to squint open their teary eyes and see his incoming doom.
Apollo went for the leg wings, and the feet attached. It was fun to hold the edge of a wing and trace shapes into the muscles, resulting in Hermes attempting to speak through his giggles; or armlock one, or both of the youngest’s feet and watch them squirm like crazy as he scribbled his mean, mean fingers all over his soles. As Apollo tormented the godling, Aphrodite decided on a more elegant approach. She got off the bed and walked to her dresser, only to pick up a peacock feather and return. She ran the fluffy end of the feather all over the younger’s cheeks, neck, shoulders, chest, and even dipped into his clamped armpits. His giggling was just too cute for the goddess! She motioned for her lover and brother-in-law to pause, before holding Hermes’ face in her hands.
She was met with a giggle-drunk god, dazed eyes and continuous giggles despite no one touching him. A delighted grin spread across her face as Hermes’ eyes focused on her, giggling slowing before he realised what she was about to do.
‘Noho, nohoho nohohoho dohohon’t!’ He shrieked as she leaned in and pressed ticklish kisses all over his face, wings, and neck. She continued her gift, swapping out once for Apollo to attempt to blow raspberries on his stomach, only to laugh too much to be able to, and having Ares swap out with him. Both sets of actions caused the giggling god to screech a high-pitched noise each time.
‘And what do you three think you’re doing?’ A bemused voice echoed throughout Aphrodite’s bedroom. They paused and turned to look at the doorway. Leaning against it, Zeus raised a cloud white eyebrow in amused question.
Apollo grinned, somewhat sheepishly, before answering, ‘He took my lyre! I think he deserves some revenge.’
Ares nodded. ‘Little shit painted my helmet pink. I’m not letting them get away with that so easily.’
Zeus turned to Aphrodite. ‘And you?’
She only shrugged gracefully and replied, ‘These two needed my help dealing with a rascal; I was happy to help.’
Both Ares and Apollo stuttered, before attempting to deny it.
Zeus only laughed. ‘I see. You may want to get cozy; it looks like you’ve finally tired out the God of Mischief!’ All three turned to see Hermes was in fact asleep, and clutching a handful of each’s item of clothing. ‘Next time,’ Zeus continued, ‘try to find a quieter place?’ In response Ares scoffed, Apollo grinned, and Aphrodite giggled. He left the room with a fond smile, and the three rolled their eyes good-naturedly, and lay down. They could all use a nap.
