He knew he wasn't expected there. He knew he was probably the last person Haru wanted to see. But it wouldn't be right if he wasn't there to see his friend back from a long trip. Because no matter what had been said, or thought, or anything, no matter what, that was his best friend. His Haru. And Makoto wasn't about to let him go because of an argument. The raven haired boy, so slight and quiet, who's ocean blue eyes talked for him, was the best thing in Makoto's life, aside from his family, but that was something else all together.
The flight was due in at 11:45 that night, so he imagined Haru would be tired and cranky from the flight home. But it didn't matter. He just needed to see him again. And so he waited, and waited. Until the announcement over head told them the flight 1342 from Melbourne had landed, and Makoto's heart began racing and pounding in his chest. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. Maybe he was being foolish. Maybe....Haru didn't want Makoto around anymore. Had Rin been his replacement? The thought seemed to re-open the wound in his chest that the argument had created, and the large brunette had to take a deep breath to steady himself.
"No. I'm here now, and this will show me what's going to happen. What Haruka wants..." He said to himself, and crossed his arms in determination.
"What do I want?" A familiar voice asked from behind him, and Makoto spun around to see the beautiful eyes, the soft, slightly disheveled hair, and unimpressed look of Haru before him.
"H-Haru-chan! I, ah....well....I'll tell you later. How was your trip?" Makoto asked awkwardly, and noticed the way Rin eyed him from afar as he collected the bags.
"It was....okay. Could have been better, but the ocean made up for it. And drop the chan." Haru said in his usual bored, monotonous voice.
"Made up for what..?" Makoto asked, immediately looking to see if maybe the other had been hurt in some way.
"You not being there, idiot. And what are you looking for?" Haru asked in a slightly snappy voice. But that was irrelevant to Makoto at that point. 'I wasn't there...and it made the trip not as good...?' He asked himself internally, and gave Haru a questioning look.
"Eh...? What do you mean?" He asked, and Haru looked down at his feet, almost perfectly hiding the blush that crept onto his cheeks. But Makoto knew where to look so he could see it, and he swallowed.
" I mean I missed you. And I'm sorry...." Makoto could barely understand the grumbled response, but after years of practice, he was almost fluent in Haru-speech.
"Oh Haru....I missed you too. So much...I'm so sorry." Makoto said and stepped forward to pull Haru into a bone crushing hug, blinking away his tears.
"I don't ever want to fight with you again. I hated it so much. I hated myself and I take it all back. I...I can't lose you....my life is meaningless without you." The brunette said quietly to the other, who, although at first struggled a bit in the hug, hugged Makoto back just as tightly. "I know. I'm sorry too....but being away from you, Makoto I didn't like it. It felt...wrong. Fake. Like taking a cold shower....I know where I belong, and who I belong with." Haru said softly, which caused Makoto's heart to stop beating as he processed the words.
"T-thank you Haruka...." The use of Haru's full name made the moment that much more special, and when they pulled away, both boys had a hint of a blush on their cheeks.
"Oi, you two idiots mind helping me? There's too many bags here...." Rin called and they slowly made their way to where he was, and then to Makoto's car.
"I'll drop you off as Sousuke, ok Rin?" Makoto asked, and was met with a small grunt and nod of the head. The redhead had been none to pleased about sitting alone in the back, but Haru wasn't going to pass up sitting shotgun. The brunette sighed and turned up the radio. He and Haru still had to talk about everything, where it would go, and the future. Especially the future. When they dropped Rin off, he noticed the redhead held Haru for a moment longer than he would have liked, but made no indication of how he felt. And once they'd settled back in the car, he looked at the black haired boy with shy eyes.
"I want to talk about before...what I said it'd tell you." His voice was quiet, and Haru's eyebrow peaked slightly as he sensed a mood change.
"Haru I....I know we've known each other longer than anyone on the team and....well, in the time we were away from each other, it showed me how much you really do mean to me, and how I really do feel about you. So....Haruka, I uh....ijustwantedtosaythatiloveyou." He said the last part quickly and quietly, and Haru's eyes narrowed.
"....I knew that though..." His voice hadn't changed, and Makoto looked at him with wide eyes.
"What? You did?" The brunette asked, and Haru scoffed.
"You're the last one to figure it out. Everyone knew, especially me. I knew you'd get it eventually, so I waited. But It got hard to see you almost distance from my affections, and when we fought and you said you're going to Tokyo....I snapped. Because the thought of you being away from me scares me." Haru said with more meaning in his voice than before.
"I...I didn't...I feel like such a fool...I'm sorry. I didn't know if you'd ever be interested in anyone, especially me...but If you are then...I mean....that's a goo-" the brunettes blabbering was cut off by a soft set of lips on his own, and a hand in his hair, pulling him closer. When they pulled away, his green eyes were met with brilliant blue ones.
"You're going to take me home, and give me an apology and welcome back present." Haru said in a matter o' fact voice, and then went back to his original position in the seat, leaving a dumbfounded, blushing, and speechless Makoto.
"I...I...yeah. Ok...." He said before driving off to Haru's house, smiling the whole way.
