Just Can’t Stop Smiling

Summary:

“I want to see you on Valentine’s Day. That’s… that’s okay, right?”

Notes:

Wow~ It's been a while since I updated this series (and to think where I left you guys off... LOL). Happy V-day everyone! Tagging all three pairings, since it's relatively evenly split with a small emphasis on KrBk. It's about time I did something with the whole crew, ne? Dedicating this fic to Dai and HiNA since they listened to me ramble endlessly about it. Good moral support, and speaking of—I love all you guys. I reread the comments on this series when I'm feeling down and it always lifts me up. ;.; <3

Enjoy!

Work Text:

A week or so before the big day, Bakugou makes plans to meet his roommate at Coffee Mugger. He enters the café and shivers; winter is usually mild, but this year it’s a blizzard every day. Bakugou smiles, despite it all. Inside the coffee shop, though, It’s warm. His nose is a little red, but that doesn’t bother him. He’s wearing a thin grey hoodie with a black jacket on top, with the hood over his jacket. He taps his feet against the entrance, kicking off any snow and ice on his shoes. He walks to the counter, but he’s interrupted.

 “Free samples?”

 Bakugou smiles. “Sure.”

Todoroki, holding the tray, looks at Bakugou and narrows his eyes.

Bakugou grabs one of the free samples, a decadent chocolate cake with raspberry filling (a Valentine’s Day special), but he doesn’t fail to notice the way Todoroki is staring at him. “What? You wanna go?”

“No.” Todoroki tilts his head, and squints.

“Don’t gimme that look.” Bakugou throws the small piece of cake in his mouth and makes an appreciative noise. “Shit, this is good!” He sucks some of the chocolate off his finger. “Kiri made this?”

“Yes.” Todoroki is still looking at him. “Something is… off, with you today.”

 “The fuck?”

 “Why are you… nice?”

“Why the hell would I be nice?”

“Well, for one, you haven’t been calling me stupid names and we’ve been in a conversation for at least a minute.”

 “Fuck off, Todoroki.”

“Weird…” Todoroki shakes his head and walks off.

Bakugou watches him go, but his eyes move to the cashier. There’s no lineup – just his boyfriend.

His boyfriend.

Kirishima’s grinning from ear to ear when they make eye contact. “Hey Kitty.”

Bakugou smirks. “Meow, motherfucker.” He walks over and reaches forward. “Come here.” He yanks Kirishima by the collar, and presses their mouths together.

Kirishima laughs into the kiss and backs away a little, tilting his head. “Hey buddy.”

Bakugou kisses the corner of his mouth. “Hey gorgeous.”

“You’re in a good mood.” Kirishima smiles as he tilts his head. “Like, a really good mood.”

“Well, yeah!” Bakugou bounces on his feet in the way Kirishima’s seen Midoriya do so many times (and it gives Kirishima whiplash). Bakugou glances up, to the heart-shaped decorations hanging from the lights above them. “It’s almost, you know.” His gaze returns to Kirishima. “You know.”

 “Love Day?”

 “Valentine’s Day!”

Kirishima snorts. “Alright, buddy. What can I get you?”

“Hmmm, I don’t know.” Bakugou leans forward, nuzzling Kirishima’s cheek. “A drink. Get me anything. Something special, and.” He taps his finger against the glass case of baked goods. “Something from here – something you made. Since you made it with love.”

Kirishima’s smile is somewhat lopsided. “This is weird as hell, man, but it’s interesting. You’re… really cute.”

 Before Bakugou can reply—

 “Kacchan.”

Bakugou turns on his heel. “Deku!” He hugs Midoriya and gives him a little squeeze.

Midoriya chuckles as he hugs back. He pulls away from Bakugou and glances to Kirishima, sighing. “Kacchan’s been like this all week.”

“I’m just…” Bakugou bounces on his feet. “Looking forward to it!”

 Kirishima blinks. “Valentine’s Day?”

 “Yeah!”

Midoriya crosses his arms. “L-Last year he said it was a stupid day. And the year before he s-said everyone who c-celebrates it should be killed.”

 “Well! I…”

“He did! And the year before that he was th-throwing rocks at couples that were making out in the park, a-and—”

“Hey! That was a public park, and there were kids—I was protecting society!”

 “A-And the year before that—”

“Alright!” Bakugou snaps, smile fading. “Shut up. Fuck!”

“Thank God.” Kirishima puts a hand over his heart. “I was wondering where the real Bakugou went…”

 Midoriya snorts, and Bakugou glares.

Kirishima grins. “So, what’s different this year? What are you so excited about?”

Both of them just blink and stare, at him.

 “What?” Kirishima looks between them.

Passing behind him with a tray of things, Yaoyorozu chuckles as she says, “You.”

“Huh? Me?” Kirishima looks at her, then back at Bakugou. “Oh! I’m—I’m your first Valentine!”

“Y-Yeah…” Bakugou looks away, scowling. He scratches the back of his head. “It’s the first year I get to really… celebrate it, so…”

“It’s even worse than he says,” Midoriya leans in to say. “Kacchan never got any cards or chocolates at school, not even in kindergarten, because he was too scary!”

 “I got a card once!”

 “From me!”

“What?” Bakugou snaps his head. “That was from you!?”

“I-I gave Valentines cards to the whole class, like everyone else, but since everyone skipped out on you I decided to write y-you one and didn’t sign it (because you would have yelled at me) a-and then you set it on fire and the alarm went off! Kacchan’s always been a savage virgin!”

 “I was like, six!”

Yaoyorozu chuckles to herself. “Have you two always bickered this way?”

 Together they reply, “Yeah.”

Kirishima snickers. “Alright. So one raspberry white mocha and a slice of extra-chocolate cake. For here?”

“Yeah.” Bakugou nudges Midoriya. “What do you want? My treat.”

“O-Oh.” Midoriya looks up. “I like the special, the uh? Chocolate Cherry Mocha. Do I get a discount if I’m single?”

Kirishima laughs as he focuses on the machine. “Sorry bud.”

Bakugou nudges Midoriya harder. “Just make your move on Half-n-Half already. It’s Valentines, now’s the time.”

Midoriya blushes, and murmurs something lost in the way he gets flustered.

Kirishima taps a few more things and calls out the orders for the others to get started on the drinks.

Bakugou leans on the counter, wallet in hand. “So, what are we doing? It’s next week, right?”

Kirishima pauses for a sec, looking at him. “Uh?”

“I want to see you on Valentine’s Day. That’s… that’s okay, right?”

“Yeah!” Kirishima grins. “I got the day off.”

“Good.” Bakugou smiles. “They’re, uh.” His smile falters. “They’re lighting up the plaza in the evening, but I think there’s going to be some stalls and stuff all day. So… maybe we could go?”

“Sure!” Kirishima nods. “Actually.” He looks over his shoulder. “I think Momo’s going to that, right?”

Yaoyorozu grabs a clipboard and checks things off on a sheet of paper. “Yeah, I am.” She pauses to glance to Bakugou and Kirishima. “We can go together. Or, wait. I guess you guys would rather be, alone?”

Midoriya smiles. “We can all go together!”

Bakugou gasps. “Fuck off! Stay out of it! It was a date!”

“Listen you little bitch,” Midoriya hisses. “I’ve had to listen to your salty ass e-every fucking year on Valentine’s Day for my entire life, so I get to be salty back at you for once.”

“Holy shit.” Kirishima looks between them. “That’s what it is! It’s like they switched personalities. Because of Valentine’s Day.”

 Yaoyorozu stops and stares.

Midoriya sighs and looks at them. “It’s my first Valentine’s Day that I’m going to be single…”

“It’s true,” Bakugou murmurs. “We’ve got baby pictures of him when he’s one year old clinging onto a friend. That friend ended up being his first boyfriend, so. You know. They were probably dating as newborns.”

Midoriya nods. “I’ve… never been alone on V-day.”

“Awwww.” Kirishima leans over. “You can spend the day with us, we’ll cheer you up!” He glances to Yaoyorozu. “You too!”

Yaoyorozu chuckles. “I don’t need cheering up.”

“Hey guys,” calls out Monoma, another worker at the café. “The lineup’s growing.”

“Oh oops.” Kirishima punches the last thing in and offers the credit card machine.

Bakugou slips his card into it. “But we’ll spend it together. You and me.”

Kirishima nods. “Yeah. I’d like that.”

Bakugou looks at him and grins.

Kirishima’s heart flutters. It isn’t the one grin that makes him gay. Well, this grin makes him gay, but this grin is… warm, and almost innocent, full of childlike wonder. Kirishima’s heart flutters faster.

Bakugou growls as he walks through the snow. “I hate you for coming along.”

“I hate you for being taken and leaving me single.” Midoriya pouts. “What happened to helping me get with Todoroki?”

“Never say that man’s name again. I get war flashbacks to you chanting ‘Daddy’ in our living room.”

The sun is still up when they get to the plaza, a large urban square in the midst of a city packed with skyscrapers. Vendors have set up their stalls, selling hot chocolate, spiked drinks, trinkets, jewelry and more. Lights are strung up above the plaza in the shape of little white and pink icicles, decorated with hanging red hearts. It’s busy, as a bit of a crowd has gathered, some couples, some friends, but Bakugou doesn’t mind.

“There!” Midoriya hops up on his tippie toes and motions with a nudge of his chin. “There they are!”

 Bakugou turns.

He sees Kirishima and Yaoyorozu walking towards them. Kirishima smiles, while Yaoyorozu offers a soft, “Hi.”

Bakugou leans in to give Kiri a kiss, while Midoriya returns the, “Hi!”

Yaoyorozu looks around and hums. “There’s quite a lot to see here.”

“Yeah!” Kirishima nods. “A lot more than last year.”

“Th-They’ve changed a lot!” Midoriya points in a random direction. “There u-used to be a big stall that sold cotton candy there. Three years in a row I got fucked by a guy behind it, a-and one year—”

“You ho!” Bakugou scowls. “Shut up.”

“What?” Midoriya blinks. “Everyone’s had public sex at least once.”

 “No they haven’t!”

 “Yes they have!”

 “No they haven’t!”

 Midoriya looks at Yaoyorozu.

She blushes and murmurs a soft, “Only once…”

Kirishima grins. “A couple of times…”

 Bakugou frowns. “What the fuck?”

 Midoriya sighs. “Our virgin Bakugou.”

“Shut up!” Bakugou shoves his foot against the back of Midoriya’s knee, making him yelp and fall over.

 Kirishima gasps. “Bakugou!”

Midoriya gets up and huffs. “But I’m right! You’re our virgin!”

Yaoyorozu laughs, and instantly puts a hand to her mouth. “Sorry!”

 Bakugou glares. “I’m… I’m!”

Kirishima puts an arm around his shoulders. “To be fair he’s gotten really good at sucking dick lately.”

“Yeah!” Bakugou puts an arm around Kiri’s waist. “See!”

“Oh, okay.” Midoriya nods. “But do you suck better than me?”

 “Hell yeah!”

 “…Really?”

“Shut up, Deku! I do everything better than you!”

“Do you want to have a contest?”

“No!” Bakugou yells, “Fuck no! You’ll steal my boyfriend!” He yanks Kirishima behind him, glaring at Midoriya. “You’re so desperate and single, you’re a goddamn homewrecker!”

 “I’m n-not a homewrecker, Kacchan! It’s not my problem I-I’m getting salty because I’m single a-and—”

“Oh,” Yaoyorozu says, out of the blue, as she stares at something.

 Midoriya looks at her.

Yaoyorozu, realising what she’s done, blushes and looks away. “Sorry, I just meant, um…”

“HA!” Bakugou yells, “It’s fucking karma!” He’s looking the direction Yaoyorozu was when he yells, “TODOROKI!”

Midoriya’s brain rattles in his skull as he turns around.

Several paces away, with a crowd of people moving between them, Todoroki stands, blinking, in a winter jacket and jeans. He has a relaxed expression as he turns their way. There’s a woman next to him, who tugs his arm to get his attention. She has white hair, with red specks. There’s another guy, too, but he doesn’t say anything. He’s got blond hair and small beady little eyes that look kind of cute actually. Todoroki exchanges a couple words with the woman, but he doesn’t look at her when he speaks. No, his eyes are focused on Midoriya.

 Midoriya gulps.

Todoroki walks over, ignoring everything else.

Midoriya’s cheeks flush pink and he tries a, “H-Hi…”

 Todoroki smiles. “Hi.”

 Midoriya whimpers.

“Sinful,” Bakugou whispers as Yaoyorozu gives them a side-eye and Kirishima just slowly shakes his head.

 “Shouto?” the woman asks.

“Oh.” Todoroki glances to the woman. “This is my sister, Fuyumi, and her fiancé, Mirio.”

 Mirio grins. “Hi!”

Fuyumi smiles softly. “Are these your friends?”

“Kirishima and Momo,” he says as he points them out, “Are my coworkers.”

Kirishima smiles, while Yaoyorozu gives a little wave.

“And that’s Kirishima’s boyfriend, Bakugou,” he says. “And this is my boyfriend, Midoriya.”

Midoriya squeals and his knees begin to shake.

“Oh!” Fuyumi’s eyes light up, and she puts her hands together. “He’s told us so much about you.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you,” Mirio adds with a smile. “He’s told us the Daddy story fourteen times! I love it!”

Midoriya’s knees give out, and he falls to the floor, melting, dying.

“Good, you sinful shit,” Bakugou murmurs. He grabs Kirishima’s arm and pulls his boyfriend away. “Come on.”

Leaving the others behind is a good decision, as far as Bakugou is concerned. Getting away from all that noise lets him focus more on what really matters. Kirishima. He doesn’t think twice about buying two hot chocolates and giving one to Kiri. Kiri has that surprised-happy expression on his face when he sees the drink, and Bakugou loves it.

“Well.” Kirishima leans in a bit. “Finally, just us.”

“Finally.” He closes the distance. A kiss. “How have you been?”

“Mmm, not bad,” he admits. “I love making all the special Valentine’s baked goods, but it’s tiring. Momo’s given me full control over the menu, though! I’ve only been working there for four months? But she says she’s never seen a baker like me.”

“Good.” Bakugou sips his drink. “About fucking time the world sees how special you are.”

Kirishima laughs, and it almost comes out as a giggle. “What about you?” He looks down and gently taps the tip of his shoe against Bakugou’s. “How are your classes?” He looks up. “How’s the semester?”

“Easier than last semester,” Bakugou admits. “Speaking of, I don’t think I told you? I got straight A’s last term… Well. Three A-minuses, but hey I still qualify for scholarship.”

Kirishima grins. “Holy shit! I’m proud of you, man.” He leans in and gives a little kiss. “My transcript was all C’s and D’s. You’re amazing.”

 “Eh, it’s nothing…”

“No, seriously. You work so hard, harder than anyone else I know!”

“Well.” Bakugou blushes a bit and he looks at his drink. “I’ve got a boyfriend now. He makes me coffee and takes care of me. It helps a lot.”

Kirishima smirks. “You. Are. So. Cute!”

“Yeah, whatever.” Bakugou looks at him again, grinning. “Fuck off.”

“Okay.” Kirishima turns around and walks away, pretending to—

“No!” Bakugou yells, startling a crowd of people around them.

Kirishima turns back to him, giggling like a kid.

“Fuck off!” Bakugou looks away and drinks his hot chocolate.

Kirishima takes a sip of his and wraps an arm around Bakugou. He pokes Bakugou’s cheek with his nose. “You didn’t think I’d actually leave you, did you?”

 “Shut up.”

 “Bakugou,” Kirishima snickers.

 “I said shut up.

 Kirishima kisses his cheek.

Midoriya looks up at the pink and white icicle-shaped lights hanging above him. He’s walked away from the crowd of people, feeling awkward and stupid and God he’s bad at first impressions. He pauses and stares at the lights. He’s pretty sure those icicles are the same ones they used for Christmas, except those were baby blue and white. He wonders if the city bought two sets, or just recoloured them. Not that it matters. Nothing matters.

“Hng!” He kicks a rock. “Frick!”

 “Midoriya.”

 Midoriya jumps, turning around quickly.

Todoroki stares at him for a moment. “I missed you.”

Midoriya feels his throat close up and he mumbles something.

“Hot chocolate?” Todoroki offers a cup.

“O-Oh.” Midoriya takes it and smiles. “Thanks…”

 Todoroki gives a little nod.

Midoriya sips it slowly, and he likes the warmth. “Not as good as yours…”

Todoroki quips a smile and steps forward, shrinking the distance between them.

 Midoriya looks down, blushing.

Todoroki taps Midoriya’s chin, making him look up. He likes the way Midoriya blinks in surprise, so honest in his facial reaction. Todoroki leans in, pressing their lips together. He feels the little jolt in Midoriya’s body before he kisses back. Todoroki smiles into the kiss, and soon they separate.

 There’s a smile on Midoriya’s face.

 A cute, innocent smile.

 But also…

 Confusion.

“Todoroki?” Midoriya frowns just a little. “What did you mean… when you called me… your boyfriend?”

Todoroki’s smile is barely visible, only to Midoriya who knows what to look for. “Are you not my boyfriend?”

“I…” Midoriya opens his mouth to protest, but… Wait. Is he? Is he not? Midoriya frowns. “You mean, since, uh… September? I mean I’ve slept with like fifteen different guys since then…”

“But.” Todoroki leans down a little. “None of them mean anything compared to me. I don’t care if a thousand guys fuck your tight little ass… You’re mine. Unless you don’t want to be.”

Midoriya’s face is red hot, and his hand shake enough that ripples form along along the surface of the hot chocolate.

“Unless you don’t want to be,” repeats Todoroki.

 “I-I! I!”

Todoroki smirks. “You’re my good little boy, aren’t you?”

 Midoriya’s pretty sure he’s dying.

“This is how I like you,” admits Todoroki. He runs his thumb over Midoriya’s lips, feeling the soft dampness from their earlier kiss. “But I’ll have you like this later… Let’s just enjoy the festival for now. Alright?”

Midoriya takes in a deep breath and relaxes. “O-Okay.”

Todoroki turns and walks away, and Midoriya – like a puppy – follows his master.

The weirdest part is Midoriya just can’t stop smiling.

Yaoyorozu walks around the plaza alone. She gives a long, drawn-out sigh. She expected this, but still. It sucks. It’s not that bad, though. She usually ends up alone, since no one wants to focus on her, so she knows how to make events like this fun. Although, with it being Valentines, the pitying looks she gets from some of the vendors when she’s alone (not even with friends) ends up getting to her. She sits down on one of the benches and looks up, watching the snowflakes fall.

 “Hey.”

 Yaoyorozu looks down, blinking.

Standing in front of her is one of her regulars from the coffee shop, a girl with a pair of headphones around her neck.

 “Jirou.”

 Jirou smiles. “You remembered.”

“Well.” Yaoyorozu returns the smile. “We do take names when you order.”

 “Yaoyorozu,” Jirou counters.

Her eyebrows go up, a small blush across her cheek.

“I read your nametag.” Jirou’s smile wiggles. “A million times, actually. It took me forever, since it’s a long name. Dedication, man. Is your first name long too?”

“No,” she admits. “It’s Momo. Momo Yaoyorozu.”

“Momo,” Jirou repeats. “I’m going to call you Momo.”

 “H-Huh?”

“It’s shorter, and cute. Not that Yaoyorozu isn’t cute, but Momo is really cute.” Jirou pauses, tilting her head a little. “It suits you.”

Yaoyorozu looks away for a bit, feeling embarrassed, feeling warm. “Thank you.”

“So. What are you doing here?”

“Ah.” She bites her lip. “Well. I came with friends, and they… coupled off. Leaving me… here.”

“So…” Jirou smiles. “You’re free tonight?”

There’s a small smile on her lips as she replies, “Yes.”

 “And… single?”

Yaoyorozu’s blush worsens, but she forces herself to say, “Y-Yes.”

“Then let’s hang out – you and me.”

The warm flutter in her chest is almost too much for her to handle. “Are you sure…?”

“Yup.” Jirou smirks. “You’re the one I had my eye on anyway.”

Bakugou and Kirishima walk around the plaza together—they’re holding hands, and Kirishima’s grinning like an idiot while Bakugou’s blushing himself out of existence. Bakugou feels a little nudge and he blinks, glancing to Kirishima.

 “What are you thinking, bro?”

“What am I thinking?” Bakugou snorts. “I’m thinking ‘Holy shit I have a boyfriend’.”

“Yeah, and please don’t forget it.” Kirishima chuckles. “It’s been, what? Three months? Four?”

 “Something like that.”

 “Then what’s up?”

“I… I don’t know…” He stops walking and Kirishima does too. Bakugou swallows hard. “I just… look, I know you don’t like it when I say shit like this but, I totally expected to die alone. Like, that was what I learned about myself growing up, so I just expected it to happen. I mean, who would… who would love me? Who would see me and, just…”

It’s obvious from Kirishima’s frown that he disagrees, but he doesn’t say anything yet.

Bakugou appreciates that. “I just, I don’t know. I had a lot of problems growing up, in terms of… connecting with people… Fuck, I still do. You know I fuck up a lot with you, and um. You’re always there… You know. It’s. It’s good having you. I love you. And, I guess… When I was single, it used to piss me off. Valentine’s Day. I felt excluded, and I just kept saying it was stupid and useless. And, maybe it is… but…”

 Kirishima tilts his head.

“But, like.” Bakugou breathes in slowly. “Maybe it is stupid. But there’s today to just, appreciate we did it. It’s fucking hard, you know? All of this. The relationship shit. But we did it, and that’s what we’re celebrating. It’s almost impossible for two people to, um… yeah… Where am I even fucking going with this?”

Kirishima kisses him. “Bakugou, I love you too.”

 Bakugou blinks. “Oh.”

 Kirishima laughs.

Bakugou frowns and kicks his shoes. “Fuck off!”

 “But don’t actually?”

 “Exactly!”

Kirishima smirks. “I really don’t think Valentine’s Day is as deep as that, Cat-suki, but I’m glad you’re enjoying it. You’re loveable, and it’s easy to be with you.”

“Easy to be with? Well, maybe for you.”

“Yeah, for me. And maybe that’s all that matters, right?”

Bakugou opens his mouth to protest, but he doesn’t know what to say.

 Kirishima nudges him.

Bakugou frowns, and shivers. He looks up, seeing that the sky darkened. The sun went down. All the white and pink lights seem to shine a hundred times stronger against the black sky. He looks to Kirishima. “Want to head to my place?”

 “Sure.”

Midoriya is definitely sure he’s dying. He isn’t sure how he got here, making out with Todoroki on one of the park benches but he fucking loves it. Midoriya’s noises are muffled into the kiss, but it’s obvious he’s both dying and living with this kiss. He feels like he’s breathing Todoroki in after years of not being able to, and he’s just drowning in the kiss. His hands slip under Todoroki’s jacket, under his shirt, feeling the skin of his stomach and sides.

Todoroki breaks the kiss, raising an eyebrow. “I think someone’s getting a bit too worked up for a public area.”

 “You’re torturing me,” whimpers Midoriya.

 “I know.”

 Midoriya releases a, “Hng.”

Todoroki leans in and bites Midoriya’s neck.

“Ah!” Midoriya feels his whole body throb.

 “Oh, Shouto!”

Midoriya opens his eyes, seeing Todoroki’s sister right beside them.

Fuyumi offers a smile. “Mirio and I are going to head to his place. Will you be fine on your own?”

Todoroki muffles a, “Mhm,” into Midoriya’s neck, not letting go of it with his teeth.

Midoriya is dying.

Fuyumi smiles softly. “Alright, bye Shouto! Bye Midoriya, nice to meet you!”

 “A-Ahh, b-bye…”

“Bye lil’ bro,” Mirio offers with a silly salute. “Bye lil’ bro’s cute boyfriend!”

Fuyumi turns away and grabs Mirio’s arm. “Cute boyfriend?” she asks with a smile notable in her voice.

“Hey,” Mirio says as they walk away, smiling. “You know me. I’m bi.”

“Not all bisexuals are so forward, Mirio.”

“Yeah, but I’m one of those aggressive bisexuals your parents warned you about.”

“You know,” Fuyumi says with a hint of surprise. “My dad actually did warn me about aggressive bisexuals—I always wanted to marry one just to spite him.”

They walk off, and Todoroki removes his mouth from Midoriya’s shoulder now that a nice hickey is blooming. “It’s true,” he admits. “Dad really did warn us about aggressive bisexuals.”

 “I-I’m an a-aggressive bisexual…”

“You? I thought you were a bottom bitch.”

“H-Hey! Girls can be tops too!”

“Hm, that’s true. That was pretty closed-minded of me.” Todoroki nods sagely. “So, what are you and I going to do? Am I going to give you more hickeys on this park bench or are you going to come home with me?”

“With you,” Midoriya whispers. “I want to go with you.”

 Todoroki smirks.

Midoriya blushes and he fumbles as he searches his pockets. He pulls out his phone. “Let me just tell Kacchan, and—Oh. He’s going to our place with Kiri, so y-yeah.” He looks up. “We should go to your place.”

“Good.”

“Do you want to stay the night?”

Bakugou and Kirishima walk side by side down the street, not holding hands since Bakugou hit his limit. Kirishima doesn’t push him for more, and that almost makes Bakugou want to hold his hand again.

Kirishima nudges his shoulder. “Stay the night? Sure.”

“It’s a small bed,” Bakugou points out.

“It just means I’m closer to you, Kitten.”

“Hah.” Bakugou smiles. “But, you might wake up with my elbow in your eye.”

 “That was only one time.”

“True.” Bakugou glances over. “You don’t mind?”

“Mmm, yeah. I’ll get my neighbour to feed the cats…” He sighs solemnly. “It’ll be hard to be away from them… I love them… but, it’s okay. It’s Valentine’s Day. Today is for you.” He grabs Bakugou’s hand and kisses it softly.

Bakugou whips his hand away. “What the dick.”

 Kirishima laughs.

“So, uh? You’re gonna stay over?”

“Yeah. I mean I have a few changes of clothes there, and shower blowjobs in the morning are great way to start.” Kirishima’s smile drops. “Unless you don’t want me?”

“No! I—I want you.” Bakugou deflates a little, sulking as he walks. “I just… I don’t know. I don’t want to be… inconvenient, and needy… and shit. I’m fucking Katsuki Bakugou. When the fuck am I supposed to sound like a whiney shit like this?”

 “Cat-suki,” Kirishima corrects.

 Bakugou snorts.

“But, nah man.” Kirishima grabs his hand, letting their fingers intertwine. “It’s not inconvenient.”

 “You… sure?”

“Dude, you live like a block away from my work. I get to snuggle up next to my Kitty all night, sleep in, get some morning blowjays, and go to work. It’s great for me. A lot better than my usual mornings.”

“Yeah?” Bakugou squeezes Kiri’s hand. The thought hits him again: He has a boyfriend. A boyfriend, on Valentine’s Day. But he doesn’t get lost in it. “How far away is your place?”

“Uhh, an hour away by drive, if there’s no traffic. I end up driving something like two or three hours a day.”

 Bakugou whistles.

Kirishima scoffs. “Yeah, it sucks. Luckily I got employee parking, so I can leave my car there overnight. It’s pretty rare to get parking downtown, you know? But hey I don’t question it.”

 Bakugou says nothing.

Kirishima squeezes his hand. “What is it?”

Bakugou takes a shaky breath. “Um. Nothing.”

 “What’s up?”

“It’s just, um.” Bakugou swallows hard. “I’ve never, been to your place? I mean, if you don’t want to invite me that’s cool, I just…”

Kirishima looks at him and offers a small smile. “Bakugou…”

 “Forget it.”

 “Bakugou.”

 “I said forget it.”

Kirishima squeezes his hand. “It’s an hour away, by car. Sometimes worse. You don’t like car rides.”

“Ah, uh.” Bakugou looks at him. “Oh. When did I…?”

“On our first day you said you don’t like car rides. You’re never getting your license. The whole spiel.”

 Bakugou stares.

Kirishima laughs. “You can come whenever you want, though. I’m waiting for the day you meet my cats. Estro and Progy still have to meet you.”

Bakugou can’t help but chuckle. “Shut up…” He looks away, smiling.

“So.” Kirishima nudges him. “What are we doing for dinner?”

“I… have nothing in the fridge.”

“Wanna stop by a grocery store? I can cook you up something nice.”

“You don’t have to if you don’t want to, Kiri.”

 “But I want to.”

 “Then, whatever… I won’t say no.”

He catches sight of that small smile and hums; the best part is Kirishima just can’t stop smiling.

Yaoyorozu makes sure her posture is good, making sure her breathing isn’t too loud. She’s not sweating, but she’s self-conscious she might eventually. She reads the menu slowly, trying not to flip the pages too quickly or too slowly. She steals a few glances at Jirou who’s sitting across from her from time to time, and that warm feeling doesn’t fade in her chest.

 “I’m starving,” Jirou murmurs.

Yaoyorozu smiles. “Me too,” she admits. She stops looking at the smaller meals and more at the real stuff.

 “You okay?”

 “H-Huh?”

 “You look really… uptight.”

“S-Sorry. I.” Yaoyorozu sees that glimmer of doubt flash across Jirou’s eyes and she tenses. “I want to be here, I’m just. Awkward. Really awkward.”

“Relax,” Jirou says with a chuckle. “I’m probably gonna have a burger, they’re good here.”

 “Thank God,” Yaoyorozu murmurs.

 “What.”

 “A-Ah. Uh. Oh.”

Jirou nudges her foot under the table.

Yaoyorozu mentally berates herself and blushes a bit. “I was… I mean. If you hadn’t said that I would’ve gone for a salad, or something… I was raised on the ‘you must act like a lady’ thing. If I ordered a burger when I was out with my family they would have thrown me out.”

Jirou whistles. “I didn’t know I was on a date with a high class lady.”

Yaoyorozu laughs, softly. “They’re just… snobs, really.”

“And now you’re a coffee shop manager?”

“Ah…” Her eyes soften. “Yeah. I was studying pre-med, had a high GPA, and them I just… out of nowhere, I crashed… It wasn’t me, you know? I didn’t want to be a doctor, work those hours, live that life…” A silence passes and Yaoyorozu clears her throat. “It’s a rewarding profession, but with how demanding it is people need to make sure it’s really for them.”

“Right. And it wasn’t for you?”

“No. It wasn’t… Growing up I had two choices on my career: Lawyer or doctor.”

 Jirou frowns.

Yaoyorozu fakes a little laugh. “So I dropped out, worked at a coffee shop for a while. My parents… weren’t happy. But after the way my GPA crashed they told me to take a couple terms off. Apparently something similar happened to my cousin, and he got into law school eventually. But… I don’t know. I never went back. It’s been a couple years, now. So here I am, a small little place downtown, with a roommate, working as a manager. I get to choose my own hours… It’s not prestigious, but…”

 “But you’re happy.”

 Yaoyorozu looks at her.

“I can see it.” Jirou grins. “When you’re working, you’re in your zone. In your happy space. Even when it’s stressful, you just keep doing your thing and it all works out.”

Yaoyorozu smiles. “Yeah. I’m… Life’s been better. It’s been hard, knowing I won’t be one of those things my parents put on a pedestal for me, but life’s been easier since I let go. It’s been easier since I realise I don’t have to be those things. And… ah. I’m talking about myself too much… Um, what about you? What do you do?”

“Me?” Jirou’s grin widens. “I work at a sex shop.”

 “… Oh.

Jirou snickers. “Do you, own any?”

 “N-No…”

“Well, there’s a Valentine’s Week deal. Everything’s twenty percent off if you’re taken, and twenty-five percent off if you’re single. Everybody wins.” But that’s probably a strange thing to talk about on a first date.”

The warmest part is that, despite blushing bright red, Yaoyorozu just can’t stop smiling.

“There!” Kirishima says triumphantly. “Lots of yummy leftovers now in the fridge, to feed my boyfriend all week so he can study lots and get some good good grades!” Kirishima walks over to Bakugou, who’s lying down on the couch, and melts all over him. “Because I luff him.”

Bakugou snorts. “You’re fucking cute. Shit.”

 Kirishima kisses him.

Bakugou kisses back, pulling Kiri in his arms. “Mmm, it was delicious.”

 “Yeah?”

“Seriously, you’re too good for me.”

 “Awww, no I’m not.”

“Fuck yeah you are. You’re too good for everyone. Pretty sure no one’s good enough for you.”

“Hey man, don’t talk like that.” Kirishima presses their foreheads together. “Not even jokingly. You make me so, so happy.”

Bakugou kisses his cheek. “Wanna cuddle?”

 “Bed?”

 “Yeah.”

 “Piggy back ride?”

 “What? No.”

 “Come on! Piggy back ride!”

Bakugou sighs. He, somehow, ends up on his boyfriend’s back and he whimpers softly. “Fuck.”

“Huh?” Kiri looks up, over his shoulder. “What’s up?”

“You have a lot of muscles and I’m gay.”

 Kirishima snorts. “Kiss me.”

Bakugou leans down, and their lips meet.

Kirishima walks over to Bakugou’s bedroom and they squish together on the small bed. Their arms entangle around each other and they stay there, like that, all wrapped up and warm.

Bakugou hums, his head in the crook of Kirishima’s neck. They’re on their sides, and it’s just so… nice. “I love this part… It’s just, easy. Easy to be. You know? Life’s not so hard.”

“Mmm.” Kirishima nods, kissing whatever inch of Bakugou’s skin is in front of him. “Same.”

 “Kiri?”

 “Yeah?”

 “I love—”

 His phone beeps and buzzes.

Bakugou growls and yanks his phone out of his pocket, seeing the preview he curses, “Deku…”

Kirishima chuckles. “What did he say?”

 “Lemme see…”

> his dick is magic kacchan

Bakugou closes his eyes for a moment, sighing.

 < …Happy Valentine’s Day buddy.

 > you too!!

Bakugou puts his phone away, shaking his head as he does. “So he got freaky with Todoroki.”

 Kirishima shudders.

Bakugou relates. “Anyway, sorry about that.”

Kirishima, with his phone in his hand, smiles. “It’s cool! Momo’s texting me. We left her behind, but she ended up on a date with a girl she’s had a crush on? The date went well! She’s telling me about it.”

“Mmm.” Bakugou moves so Kiri’s on his back and he’s laying on his boyfriend’s chest. He closes his eyes and nuzzles Kiri’s shirt. He doesn’t mind Kiri on his phone, to be honest. He brings his hands up, in fists, and softly presses them into Kirishima’s chest, alternating the pressure between them.

Kirishima moves his phone away. “Bakugou.”

 Bakugou freezes, looking up.

“Did you just… Are you, kneading me?”

 Bakugou stares.

“Th… That’s what cats do when they’re happy!”

Bakugou’s cheeks warm to a pink.

“Oh my God did you just—”

 Bakugou’s cheeks burn to red.

 “CAT-SUKI!”

“SHUT UP!” Bakugou rolls over, pushing himself against the wall, hiding there. “I just… saw a bunch of cats do it in those videos you sent me, so I wanted to try it, okay? Shut up!”

 Kirishima sobs.

Bakugou looks over his shoulder. “Are you crying?”

 “Y-Yes,” Kirishima says, while crying.

 “What the fuck.”

“I just…” Kirishima yanks Bakugou and pulls him into his arms. His voice is wet as he says, “A-All my partners broke up with me b-because of my w-weird cat thing… a-and you’re… I love you, Bakugou…”

Bakugou sighs and pulls Kirishima even closer. “You fucking weirdo… I love you.”

“Catsuki…” Kirishima sniffles. “This has been, the b-best V-Valentine’s D-Day ever!”

“Kiri.” Bakugou grins, still blushing, and he laughs. “You have no idea.”
