Chapter Text

A tentative knock on his door knocked Tomura out of his stupor. He glanced out of the corner of his eye as a small crack appeared in the door frame as his nurse quietly walked into the room. With a sigh, he caught the bright red ball he’d been throwing up and down and hefted himself off the bed. He brushed himself off before going over to join the nurse over at the small table inside of his room.

The two enjoyed the silent company for a good few minutes before Nurse Eila spoke. “Are you ready?”

Tomura pursed his lips and cast long glances throughout the room. His decrepit bed with thin sheets; the rusty toilet and sink sitting innocently in the corner; the small dresser he’d been granted for his good behavior; and every other little oddity about the room. After living inside the rehabilitation facility for five years, he’d gotten quite used to the surrounding quiet. The only time there was ever noise was when one of the inmates was rioting against the staff.

Per his knowledge, Tomura knew that he was the last member of the League still in rehabilitation. Spinner and Sako had gotten out first, both going on to do the things they were passionate about. Spinner ended up interning at U.A. High School underneath Recovery Girl, earning the intern hours he needed to get his certification. Sako spent his time putting on magic shows for little kid’s birthday parties. Tomura would never want to do either of those things, but as long as they were happy, so was he.

The next to be released was Kurogiri, who upon release (according to Izuku), immediately opened up a friendly cafe near U.A. High School for any students who wished to have a safe place to hang out after school. Izuku had informed him of all the outings Shouto and him had paid to the place, only to dash like bats out of hell whenever they caught a glimpse of their old classmates. Even after offering multiple times to switch locations, Izuku insisted to Kurogiri that he stay put as he was already making a boatload of money. Tomura was honestly proud.

The three of them were all released in a time frame of two years after the usurpation of the hero commission. Due in part to the fact that those three committed the least amount of crimes, had the least amount of mental problems, and overall had promising backgrounds, they were able to attain a much shorter sentence than the rest of the League. What surprised Tomura was the fact that the three of them were supposed to be released three years after the change in leadership, but were instead released one year early due to a petition created online. Izuku claimed not to know who started it, but Tomura had a gut feeling that the little shit had started it himself.

The remaining members – Jin, Himiko, Dabi, and himself – were given longer sentences due to the severity of their crimes and mental health problems. Jin himself was sent to a psychiatric ward – one recently created for villains – where he was constantly supervised. While the man had overcome his dual personality, there were still remnants of his other side lingering in the back of his mind. The doctors at the ward spent their time primarily focusing on unhashing all the trauma Jin sustained throughout his life. Tomura had almost broken his bed in excitement when Izuku delivered the news that Jin was out of the psychiatric ward.

Jin had spent four years in the ward, and according to Izuku, was doing better than ever as of late. The man had immediately opted to help Kurogiri out at his cafe, taking a supreme liking to baking. The amount of pastries that the man spent his time curating was absolutely insane. Tomura was dying to try one to see if they were actually as good as Izuku raved about.

Shortly after Jin was released, Himiko was set upon the world. She had also been sent to a mental hospital, albeit one for teenagers. To his immense relief, the doctors there immediately focused on replenishing the amount of blood Himiko had missed out on from her early stages of life. It was a long and tedious process of unfurling her trauma, but eventually everything turned out okay. Tomura had been surprised to receive a letter from Himiko herself (stuffed inside of the letter from Izuku) where she depicted her new goal in life: to help kids like herself.

Tomura nearly choked on his food when he read that she wished to become a teacher so that she could help kids in school not get bullied. And Izuku being the friend that he is, immediately paid for her tuition to college so she could fulfill her new dream. Part of him still couldn’t believe the development, but as long as she was happy, he was content not to make any complaints.

Dabi, on the other hand, was a shitstain and a half. The amount of legal shit that circled around his arrest and rehabilitation was utterly insane. Not only that, but Shouto himself sued Endeavor for child abuse, stating that the only reason Dabi had become a villain in the first place was because of him. Color him surprised when the media immediately picked up on it and began hounding Endeavor with no remorse. Izuku claimed that everyone on social media was against the man, and were also sending out their regards to Dabi himself who was becoming swamped with letters in his cell. It had gotten to the point where Dabi had had to beg the guards to stop bringing him the mail so that he could actually breathe in his cell.

Tomura wished he could’ve seen the man’s face, but he would have to be content with imagining it for himself.

Dabi had only gotten out about a month ago, and according to Izuku, was taking the time to chill out and decide what he wanted to do. After having only one purpose for so long in his life, the man wasn’t entirely sure what he wanted – or even could – do with his life. So, taking Shouto’s advice, Dabi decided to take as much time as he needed to relax and assimilate back into civilian life while brainstorming what he wished to do. It was a slow process, but he was getting there.

Overall, everything he had heard about the rest of the League was positive, and it only served to make him work harder towards getting out. He looked towards the nurse who was sitting across from him with a questioning look on her face. There was only one answer to her question.

“Hell yeah I am.”

Izuku couldn’t help but cry when they were all reunited. The amount of hugs and tears thrown around Kurogiri’s newly built bar was enough to drown the building. Not only that, but the party music blaring from the speakers only added to the ambiance.

“You look happy,” Shouto said from his right.

He looked at the other boy who wore a soft expression on his face. “Our family is free.”

“Yeah, they are.”

The two of them continued to smile until Himiko raced over and dragged them onto the dance floor. There was nothing to do but comply with her wishes and dance as if their lives depended on it. Izuku was just ecstatic that they could all smile together again after so many years. It was the least they deserved for all the suffering they had gone through.

He couldn’t help but think that they’d all been lost in life, but eventually found by those who understood them. It had taken a while, but he was right where he belonged. With his family.

Notes:

When I started this fic about two years ago, the one thing I told myself was that I would see it through to the end. No matter how much burnout I went through, no matter how much I wanted to stop writing, I would keep going. And honestly, I'm so glad I did. The feeling of finally finishing one of my longest projects is amazing, and I'm so glad I didn't give up even when I went through multiple months of not writing a thing. I'd like to thank all of you that have stuck with me throughout this journey. Your comments have definitely been a part of the reason why I kept going, and they always served to make me happy. But unfortunately, all long journeys must come to an end eventually. And Lost and Found's journey ends today. See you all in the next one!
