Chapter Text
Chapter 31.
- It is a new morning and Adrien and Marinette are ready to face whatever comes to them.
- They leave everything important behind and write letters to everyone they love, placing them on top of their suitcases so if anything happens to them it is easy to find them.
- They go out of the hotel as if they are going hiking, nothing mysterious.
- They take the ring and butterfly brooch with them but they're not really wearing them, they have them wrapped around a silky small bag inside their pockets, easy to grab if they need them.
- Marinette's headaches start again, but they keep going because she says it means they're close to where she came all those years ago.
- As they go forward, something is screaming at Marinette to go back.
- They're going up on a high mountain, Adrien and Marinette are wrapped by rope at this point, holding themselves together just in case.
- The headaches start to make Marinette nauseous and she falls to the ground.
- Adrien decides is time to take a break, Marinette wants to keep going but Adrien doesn't let her.
- Marinette gets mad and her eyes glow, not purple like before, but a bright light seems to come out of her eyes.
- Only Adrien notices.
- Something inside him twists too, for the first time it is like he is feeling something.
- Adrien explains to Marinette that it is like he is feeling what she is feeling but a lower scale.
- They start discussing, they bring all of Marinette's other side effects through the years and start to come with conclusions.
- The fact that Marinette could feel emotions it's obviously because Nooroo was inside of her, but that never explained why she knew all the things about Adrien.
- They realize that somehow they're connected, in a different way than the one they should be (bc of the miraculous)
- This doesn't only explain Adrien's symptoms now, but also why every time Adrien was anxious or angry, it tended to take a toll too on Marinette, no matter how far away they were.
- Marinette's eyes keep shining, Adrien asks her if she is seeing something.
- Marinette is seeing the light "the light she always sees, the light she always fears".
- Marinette convinces Adrien to keep going, that no matter how sick she feels they must keep walking until they find what they have to find.
- Adrien agrees but it's not very happy about it. He takes every step angry at himself that he can't do anything until he remembers last night he was able to make her headache go away.
- Adrien takes the ring out of his pocket and gives it to Marinette.
- Marinette refuses to wear it, it's not hers, and also they already established that they will only wear them once they are "there" so the energy won't confuse them.
- Adrien insists, says that they won't be able to keep going if Marinette passes out.
- Marinette realizes he is right and puts on the ring.
- Her headache, nausea, and dizziness go away, but of course, she gets confused and has no idea where to go.
Chapter 32.
- Adrien and Marinette discuss what she remembers.
- It's all dark until the light in her memories. Because no matter how well she can remember her old and new self, this part, the crazy part is still a mess.
- Adrien wonders if all that dark is not only figurative but actual dark.
- Something sparks inside of Marinette and she is almost sure that she was inside of a cave.
- Adrien and Marinette start walking into a direction that seems to be the best place for a hidden cave.
- As they walk and everything seems lost because they can't find anything, there are only tents and desert regions.
- Nothing really to find a cave or anything else for the matter.
- Marinette sees something that catches her eye. A reflection of something.
- There's a lake.
- "Adrien... I think I know where we have to go".
- They get to the edge of the lake and they both look down.
- It looks so shallow and yet so deep.
- Adrien takes a rock and throws it, but it doesn't help much, as clear as the lake is, it doesn't seem to show anything but the reflection of the mountains.
- Marinette's heart is beating fast, she wraps her hand around Adrien's and looks at the rope that is still around them.
- "Make sure that rope is super tight"
- "Why?"
- "Trust me?" "Unluckily I do."
- Marinette starts to walk inside the water, Adrien follows her.
- The ground seems steady and on one level, they don't seem to sink, so they keep walking.
- Marinette walks and only stops one step before where there's no reflection, the only place where water seems to be water and not a mirror.
- Marinette tightens her hold on Adrien's hand.
- "let's take the next step together. ready"
- "ready".
- Adrien and Marinette take the step and they submerge in the water completely.
- Everything goes dark.
- There's no sound.
- There's no touch.
- There's nothing at all.
Chapter 33.
- Adrien opens his eyes. It feels like he has been asleep but he feels restless.
- He is laying on the floor, it's grainy earth and he feels his body ache, and also scratches all over his face and hands.
- Marinette is laying next to him, in the same state.
- They both look up and there's nothing. The lake is gone and they're inside of what looks like a cave, but all the walls are made of polished stone, it looks like opal but they can't be sure.
- Once Adrien is fully awake he stands up, putting one hand on the wall to not stagger.
- The moment he does this he feels fine again, he looks at his hands and the wounds are gone.
- This doesn't happen when Marinette stands up and touches the wall.
- Marinette's eyes go big and she looks at her hands, then she narrows her eyes.
- "what?" Adrien asks confused and concerned.
- "they didn't get worse. my wounds didn't get worse"
- "what? were you expecting that?"
- "no... i mean... i remember... last time, when i touched it, my wounds opened and i bled"
- Adrien gulps, she has remembered something and it is not good,. "you ain't taking that ring off, you hear me?" he says, bc if she got hurt before but not now he can only think is bc of the ring.
- Marinette agrees.
- They look around, realizing that the only way they're able to see is because they both seem to glow, but their glow is so dim that it won't help them out.
- Adrien looks inside their backpack and takes a flashlight.
- They hold hands and start to walk on the only pathway there is.
- As they walk, Marinette gets quiet.
- She is hearing the voice again. The voice that tells her to stay away.
- Adrien starts to feel weird too.
- As they keep walking, the shapes around them start to shift.
- Or at least Adrien says.
- He says it is getting brighter, prettier than it doesn't feel as suffocating as before.
- Marinette keeps seeing the same darkness and opal-like texture all around.
- The voice keeps screaming, it makes Marinette stop and look around.
- Adrien is too excited about the change of scenery, thinking they're on the right path.
- Marinette tells him he is going the wrong way.
- Adrien thinks they should go his way.
- They start arguing until it becomes a big fight.
- As they do so the cave starts to shake.
- It shakes so hard a few rocks fall.
- They both jump away from the rocks, sadly to different sides.
- Rocks fall in the middle, cutting the rope, and separating them.
- Marinette starts to scream, trying to talk to Adrien but no one answers on the other side.
- Adrien opens his eyes and cleans the dust out of his face, he looks down to see Marinette right next to him, unconscious.
- He picks her up on his arms and starts walking towards a glimmering bulb that he can see in the distance.
Chapter 34.
- Marinette starts to lose her mind.
- Adrien doesn't answer, she is all alone in this side of the cave and she has no idea if she can make it out of here.
- The ring starts to heat up on her hand.
- Letting Plagg out, he lets her know that Adrien is okay, that he can still feel him, however, he seems to be far far away.
- Marinette remembers something.
- Tikki telling her that even if they were together, it felt as if they were kilometers away.
- Tikki!
- Marinette asks plagg to look for tikki.
- At first, they both think it won't work, that it will take them anywhere.
- however, plagg does feel her.
- He says it feels strange but he is sure that it is her.
- Marinette has to decide if she will follow plagg's instinct or if she will stay.
- She would stay only because she still believe Adrien is on the other side.
- However, she realizes that maybe it is better if she moves because at some point Adrien will too and they might meet each other.
- She remembers the cave being labyrinthine.
- The more she walks the more she remembers, and the more painful it is.
- Marinette starts to tell Plagg that she brought the butterfly miraculous with her because it is also creative power and that she felt that the energy was the opposite, so she thought the more creation magic she brought with her, the stronger she would be.
- Adrien on his side keeps carrying Marinette, this time he is in a bigger part of the cave, there's a river and flowers growing. He feels a little bit safer than before, so he keeps walking.
- He checks out on Marinette every now and then to see if she wakes up, unsure if they're going through the right path.
- I'm gonna be honest with you I didn't know how to tie up this up and the next thing that happens, but let's pretend I figured out something.
- Adrien ends up on a lake, he looks up and the reflection is perfect, he can see everything that is around him reflected except himself.
- Adrien looks up and down confused trying to understand what's happening.
- A blinding light shots through the cave and blinds him for a second.
- He can't see and suddenly the weight on his arms disappears.
- Once he is able to open his eyes Marinette is not on his arms.
- Adrien freaks out, looking all around him.
- "Don't worry, darling. She is fine, but she was never with you."
- Adrien recognizes that voice.
- He turns around and at the end, where the light had just appeared... his mother is there.
Chapter 35.
- Afraid and confused Adrien walks towards the figure that seems to be his mother, yet keeps his distance.
- Emelie tries her best to calm down Adrien, and tells him she will explain everything.
- Adrien calms down and comes closer to her. She looks exactly like his mother, she just glows in a strange way.
- Once he is close and she wraps one hand around him, Adrien jolts away.
- Adrien asks for Marinette.
- "She must be arriving too."
- "What do you mean? where did she go?"
"She was never with you. I tricked you. I knew you wouldn't have come to me if I didn't give you a little push." - Adrien freaks out again. "what do you mean? you made me left Marinette behind?!?!"
- "I told her to stay away. I kicked her out of here the first time, I helped her get out. I can't do more than I already did all those years ago."
- "you're the light Marinette sees...."
- Marinette on her side, following Plagg ends up in the same lake.
- The lake is empty and dark.
- Marinette looks up and sees the reflection. She can't see herself.
- She can see Adrien tho.
- "I don't like this place, Marinette. We should go."
- "No."
- Marinette starts to walk to the lake, slowly submerging in the water.
- The cave starts to glow in a strange shade of grey.
- Something rips and the air starts to blow all around, it feels as if a hurricane was starting.
- Plagg gasps.
- "what?!"
- "it... it is like a cataclysm..."
- "oh...no. not again."
- Back to Adrien.
- Emelie is trying to explain to Adrien that when Marinette came here ten years ago, it was she who took her out.
- "she was hurt!"
- "of course she was! she was playing with dangerous magic! just like you are now!"
- "why are you here!!"
- "I was once like Marinette too, Adrien. I heard a voice and I came here, I wasn't lucky enough like Marinette was. I could feel you all over her, and I was not going to let you lose something else."
- "Well now you can help me find her and we will help you get out of here, so tell me! where is she?!"
- "I can't get out of here Adrien. I'm fighting to use this little bit of magic that I still have to appear here, to talk to you, but I've been run dry, and that's why it is calling Marinette. Because it needs her to survive. It has taken some of the earrings but."
- "The earrings?"
- Back to Marinette.
- As Marinette wraps one rope around a rock to not be sucked by the energy, everything comes back to her and she starts crying.
- All the hallucinations she had later start to make sense and she sees the lies through the cracks.
- "I lost the earrings here the first time" "Something happened, something tricked me, and I took them off because I thought Tikki was going to be safer that way, but then this happened, the wind and the darkness, and the electric bolts. Rocks started to fly, energy whipped, and clashed against my skin. Then before I knew it I felt my connection with Tikki weakening."
- "i feel her! i wouldn't if she was gone!"
- "she is not gone gone... but it has her" Marinette gulps.
- Everything Marinette just said it's happening again. Rocks are hitting her, electric bolts are shocking her and opening wounds on her skin.
- "it's destruction..."
- "yes, like you... but..."
- "it doesn't have a match..."
- "it doesn't... it needs balance or its own destruction, will destroy it."
- "that's why it needs you! tikki might have the magic but you are now the magic"
- "yes.. that's why it took adrien's mother too."
Chapter 36.
- Marinette and Plagg are trying their best to not be sucked by this strange "black hole."
- On the other lake, Adrien is listening to his mother.
- Emelie explains that there's something with destructive energy hidden here.
- Said energy is pulling creation energy back to it to remain stable, and that's why over the years and years and millennia that the world has existed, all these magic souls have disappeared and have been consumed by this energy.
- "This energy used to have a companion, but something happened and this companion divided, it created something else."
- "of all the miraculous that exist, every single one has the opposite energy to control it. usually, the yin-yang miraculous are the strongest, but those miraculous are not always held by a perfect soul that matches them."
- "for a long time this energy has tricked the strongest bonds of creation-energy and creation-soul back here, to stay stable"
- "that's why it called me and that's why it's calling marinette. she is one of the strongest bonds, one of the most powerful souls ive ever seen, that's why it hasnt' given up"
- "but it hasn't called her for years"
- "because i cut the bond, because i made her forget"
- Emelie opens her hands and there are the earrings.
- "i don't understand, mom."
- "I'm one with this energy now, but i still have autonomy, barely any, but something is better than nothing. when i realized who she was, i tried my best to do anything so she could escape and never come back."
- "but we are here now.... is she going to get hurt?"
- emelie doesn't answer
- "mother!"
- "here." Emelie gives Adrien the earrings, "i will help you but you must collaborate, move fast, and make your way up, don't look back."
- "what? what are you saying? where will i meet marinette?"
- Emilie is silent again.
- Adrien realizes why she doesn't answer.
- "you are going to save me but not her."
- "you are my son"
- "you said you didn't want me to lose anything else"
- "yes. but now i have no choice, is you or her, and i choose you."
- "i choose her."
- "well, im sure she would choose you, that makes two against one. i'm sorry, Adrien. i love you".
- Once again, I would be lying if I tell you that I know how to tie these 2 things together.
- So basically, Adrien does look back, and once he is out, he turns around and with Tikki's help he doesn't climb where Emelie's light is pushing him at but just like he did with Marinette to get here, he throws himself to the water and swims until he hits the deepest point.
- He feels himself getting suck by a powerful force, but he finally emerges from the water and someone holds his hand.
- Marinette is all wounded, wrapped around a rock, plagg hanging from her hair.
- "princess!"
- "kitty!"
- very heartful talk, both explaining what is happening
- they're both on the same page, yet they don't know what to do.
- after thinking and thinking, Marinette realizes what she has to do.
- Adrien gives her the earrings and Tikki comes out.
- Tikki and Marinette reunion in the middle of this whole mess.
- Adrien has managed to wrap himself too with the rope, and is holding Marinette close to his chest.
- Adrien sees something in Marinette's eyes, her lips are trembling.
- once again something happens here that i can't remember im sorry.
- "tikki, i love you" Marinette says and before the kwami can answer the hand where she has the ring wraps around the earrings and she uses cataclysm.
- Adrien and Plagg are both surprised (how was she able to use cataclysm without Plagg) and also outraged.
- Darkness in the shape of smoke starts to come out of Marinette's hand and she takes of the ring, giving it to Adrien.
- "your turn. It needs the opposite energy, so we must assure that it ceases to exist."
- "I'm not destroying Plagg" Adrien says. feeling dirty just by the thought, feeling angry with Marinette as never ever before.
- He puts on the ring and keeps it close to him, scared that Marinette could take it away.
- He already saw her kill Tikki without a second thought, he won't let her do that to plagg.
- "Adrien!"
- "Plagg and I-
- "I'm not talking about Plagg!"
- "NO." Adrien says, realizing what she's asking.
- "It's the only way!"
- "I'm not killing you!"
- "You have to!"
- "NO!"
- Marinette cries and kisses him and in a sharp and swift move, she takes his hand and places it over her heart.
- "MARINETTE NO!"
- But it's too late.
- The light dies out of her eyes.
- Adrien loses his mind (I mean.. obviously)
- Then the force of the pull starts to slow down.
- Light comes out instead of that deep darkness.
- Adrien sees his mother.
- "get out!"
- the light starts to become dimmer as the moments pass.
- It's obvious that the energy is trying to take as much creation-drive energy to keep itself alive.
- But Marinette was right once again, and things start to go out of control.
- The place where they are at starts to "glitch" Adrien's ring starts heating up and changing.
- Just like the energy who had been calling Marinette, now his ring is all alone.
- He doesn't know what to do, and he is unsure if Marinette had a plan for this.
- He hugs Marinette close to his body and calls Plagg by his side.
- "I'm sorry, Plagg"
- There's obviously a plan shaping on his mind.
- "I understand kid, I want the same."
- Plagg sits on Adrien's hand. Adrien moves that hand on top of his neck, so he keeps touching Plagg but can touch himself.
- "cataclysm"
- And now we have some romeo and juliet deaths uwu.
Chapter 37.
- So of course I wasn't going to end the fic there.
- It would have been a good cliffhanger tho lol
- This chapter is all about all the others making it to Tibet.
- The change of energy and Adrienette's sacrifices made the energy collapse once Emelie completely died after losing all her energy.
- There's a whole hole in the mountain as if a meteor had hit, and there are Marinette and Adrien dead.
- Willem and Naomi try to calm down Alya.
- Nino says that he stills feel some energy.
- Willem explains that of course there is, after all no substance ever disappears it only transforms.
- Willem, Naomi and Nino join forces to try to encapsulate that energy.
- After suffering, trying, and almost dying in the process... they manage to turn the energy into two marbles.
- Nino puts one marble on top of Adrien another on top of Marinette
- They want to use the energy to revive them.
- "you know that they've already changed enough energy on the universe, you don't know the consequences this could bring," Willem says
- "what des he mean?" alya asks.
- "it means that if we do this, we could change the whole world. not only they would, but everything, time and space... every action has its consequences and they destroyed not only the yin-yang most powerful to ever exist, but they also destroyed the energy from where they came from."
- "so we could just all die'"
- "i don't think so, but everything we know could change."
- "it's a risk im willing to take"
- "me too."
- And so they use the marbles.
- This causes thunder, rain, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc, the whole energy of the planet shifts.
- everything goes dark and they all pass out.
- -----
- Adrien opens his eyes.
Chapter 38: Epilogue.
- Adrien wakes up on his bed and quickly makes it to the bathroom, realizing he is late for work.
- He makes it to the university on time and gives his class.
- He meets Nino outside and they go to a café.
- Nino tells him that he has a new job filming a fashion campaign for a renowned designer.
- Adrien congratulates him.
- "My mother will be so happy to hear that, dude! Im going to tell her to give you tips to interact with the models" Adrien laughs.
- "I know how to interact with models, thanks,"
- "Sure... Ive seen you with girls. You need to step up your game if you don't want to be single forever."
- They keep laughing and talking for long hours.
- "I need to go, I'm visiting mom. If you want you can come."
- "Sure! I'd love to! Let's buy some pastries!"
- Nino goes to the counter
- Alya, the daughter of the owner is on the cashier and they talk for a while.
- Adrien checks his phone, letting his mother know that he will be home soon, but that they're taking the metro.
- Once at the metro, with a big box of baked goods they start talking again.
- They remember going to school together since they were little, they remember all the times Adrien missed class because his mother was busy modeling somewhere else and he accompanied her.
- The metro is not that full but it's starting to fill a little.
- They get to their station and because of the people, it takes them a little bit to go out.
- There's a scream, and people start to move.
- A man is holding a pink bag and running.
- "GIVE IT BACK!" A petite girl is running behind him.
- She is well dressed, very preppy but there's something unique about it.
- And she is wearing heels and yet running at full speed to get her bag back.
- Adrien isn't sure what takes over him but he starts running too.
- They run stairs up and then something happens.
- His eyes look straight into hers and he changes direction
- She changes too
- Seconds later Adrien has slipped through the floor and hit the man on his legs.
- The man trips.
- The girl comes out of nowhere, almost flying in the air and falls on top of the man, putting his hands on his back and twisting.
- Adrien stands up and grabs the pink purse, putting one foot on top of the man to help the girl.
- "what the fuck dude!" Nino says, running out of breath.
- Adrien just points out at the scene.
- They wait until a guard appears and takes the guy
- The girl stands up, cleaned her skirt, and fixes her hair.
- Adrien gives her the purse
- The girl smiles.
- Adrien's heart stops, and he feels himself blush.
- "Thank you so much."
- "No problem"
- "I'm Marinette, what's your name?"
- "Adrien."
- "Adrien" She says and it sounds like a song. "Well, thank you so much Adrien. How can I make it up to you?"
- "it was nothing, really."
- "it was everything, you have no idea what this purse has. if i lost it i would have lost it all."
- "No really-
- "he is up for dinner!" Nino says, grabbing Adrien by his shoulders and winking.
- Adrien feels himself turning redder.
- Marinette smiles. "I do really like that idea."
- "yes?"
- "Yes. I'm free tomorrow, what do you think?"
- "amazing. amazing!"
- "great... thank you again."
- "sure.. i mean, i didn't do it alone, we worked as a team, you were... fantastic."
- marinette blushes. "oh yeah, that was nothing... i mean, i couldn't have done it without you."
- "i think you would have."
- "not at all. i needed you."
- "yeah?"
- "yes. i think we make a great team, don't you?"
- Something flashes, like thunder.
- There's a strange feeling blooming inside them both but they can't really understand what it is.
- Yet, they suspect it has to do with the other.
- Adrien chuckles and does an exaggerated bow, unsure what has taken over him but sure that it is the right thing to do.
- "the best team, my lady."
- the end :)
- and yall know that date it's going to go uwu
So, there it is!
I know there are a few plot holes and things that were never answered, here are 2 that I can remember:
-Willen and Naomi arc: Okay, so you might wonder what is their propose besides helping Nino on the last chapter. Well, there was a whole arc with them in which Marinette and Adrien traveled to Amsterdam and we got to know more about the multiple miraculous boxes and magic and all that jazz, but this arc would have made the fic at least 10-15 chapters longer and I did not want that, because as I said, I wasn't into ml anymore.
-The scarf: Marinette knits the scarf every year and yet she is unsure why. I was supposed to explain more about the strange connection she still has to Adrien, I was going to use a metaphor and compression to "binary stars" once again this was discarded because of time, energy and really it was one of those things I did because it was part of the show but really didn't add anything to the story more than cute info.
If you find/remember anything else, just tells me, I usually know what I wanted to do with all these little things but it's been so long and I haven't kept up with this that I might just not remember.
And one last thing: here you have my initial bullet points, ideas, drabbles and whatever these are. they helped me to shape the fic and kinda have a structure of what i wanted to happen. (idk how to put pictures here im sorry)
