His gloves are enough to cushion his growing claws; if Hector feels them, he doesn’t wince. So, Adrian is free to dig them into his prize with the vehemence of contempt, for himself, for Father, for the man with no love for himself whose breath hitches almost imperceptibly. “You chose this,” he growls in Hector’s ear.
He does not so much as flinch. His back is straight, his arms limp on his sides, and he cants his head back – and at that shameless invitation, Adrian no longer finds in him the will to resist.
Prince Adrian struggles with his emerging vampiric side, and his newfound thirst for blood and power. He finds solace in Hector, ready to submit to someone who deserves his blood. The accidental awakening of a dark power will lead both of them to understand each other and themselves better.
