🤩 Completed 🤩
“Good morning Charlie! I’m afraid it’s a seating plan. All part of the new system. I’ve sat you on that table at the back, next to Nick Nelson, whenever he arrives. Uh, that won’t be a problem will it?”
Oh no, Charlie thought desperately, please, anybody other than Nick Nelson.
Clearly, Charlie’s hesitation showed, as Mr Lange looked a tad uncomfortable.
“I need someone I can trust with him, please Charlie?”Everyone at Truham Grammar knows Nick Nelson, including a particular curly haired year 10 called Charlie Spring who may or may not have a secret crush from afar on him. When in Year 10, Nick was outed as bisexual and brutally assaulted on school property, closeted Year 9 Charlie vowed he would never tell a soul he was gay until he was done with school. A year later, Nick is out, popular, and King of Rugby. And Charlie? Charlie is so far in the closet he might as well be in Narnia. NOBODY knows Charlie is gay, not even his big sister Tori. Everything is going to stay that way, until a change in form group arrangements threatens everything.

Summary
"My name is Nick Nelson, and I attend Thruham Boys' Grammar School. I'm currently a year 11, and I spend most of my time outside of classes playing rugby or hanging out with my dog Nellie and my mum Sarah"
--and then he met CharlieA mostly Canon-compliant inner monologue I wrote for Nick Nelson over the course of the first season of Hearstopper, because this rugby lad lives in my brain and I love these characters so much. They make my heart happy :)

Summary
This could’ve been the best thing that ever happened to me, but instead it’s the absolute worst. When I heard that we were going to have vertical form groups at the start of the new term, I never imagined that the universe had a fucked up sense of humour.
See the thing is, the guy who just sat down next to me with the dark curls and the stormy eyes, his name is Charlie Spring. I’ve had a massive crush on him for the better part of a year… and I’m pretty sure he has no idea who I even am. Or if he does then he probably doesn’t have a good opinion of me. And now not only is he in my form group, but he’s been assigned to sit right next to me.
This could’ve been a great way for us to finally actually meet; I wouldn’t have to think up some elaborate reason to get to talk to him, I could just strike up casual conversations and we could get to know each other. Then when I finally got the courage to confess, I wouldn’t be some random stranger.
It could’ve been the best thing… except…
