Summary
Shouto was hovering in the doorway, head leant gently against the jamb and hair spilling around his throat like a cloud of snow and wine. He was always beautiful, but something about him then – illuminated in the late night glow of the kitchen’s under unit lights, soft with sleep – caught the breath in Izuku’s throat.
He smiled, pink lips curling so perfectly Izuku wanted to reach out and trace them with his fingertips.

So far, second year had been a lot. Between juggling school work, an impending war it was his job to end, and falling head over heels for one of his best friends, Izuku was pretty much ready to crawl into bed and stay there for the rest of his natural life.

But as much as she can remember those days, she also remembers in perfect clarity the day that each child was born, the short-lived joy. Shouto is seven now, and she tries to remember the last time she's heard him raise his voice above a murmur, besides these pain-filled mornings. Even when he’s with her, he’s mostly silent these days, as if he’s afraid that the spell of safety will break if he speaks.
OR: Todoroki Rei doesn't burn her son, and everything changes from there.

It’s on a Friday several weeks later that Shigaraki ends up at Dinner with the Midoriyas.
Alternatively, the one where Shigaraki is running from weekly Mario Party at the villain bar, befriends Midoriya Inko, and accepts a dinner invitation that quickly has both Izuku and Shigaraki in quite the pickle.
