“Getting the kid will be easy, and we could even stop to get some cool, alien merch in the city!” Percy insisted. “Come on, it’ll just take a few hours at most. And we have to get her, Nico, her mother disappeared on New Year’s Eve- New Year’s!” He’d then pouted and gave his boyfriend the puppy eyes he knew could get him to do just about everything.
And Nico, who’d known how it felt to be small and all alone during winter, wasn’t about to let another kid go through that. “Okay,” He sighed. “Let’s go get the kid.” How hard could it be, anyway?
As it turns out, very very hard.
Or in which Nico ends up injured on the parking lot of a UFO-shaped McDonald’s, with a kid on one side and a couple of ducks on the other one.

“It’s an honest question!” Jason crossed his arms and glared at his friends, frustrated and embarrassed by the laughter. “He kissed me on the mouth, but what if it was, like, platonically? Or just as a distraction so he could win the match?”
“Jason, who in their right mind would make out with someone just to distract them?” Piper asked him.
“It wasn’t making out!” Jason said defensively. “It was just a kiss! And if anyone is crazy enough to do it, it’s Percy!”
“Not even Percy is that crazy,” Leo managed to get out between laughs.
“His boyfriend was sitting right there!” Jason pushed his hands through his hair. He still couldn’t believe it.
“Again, Percy is not that crazy,” Piper said. “He knows not to piss off di Angelo, and he would never do anything to hurt him.”
“So why did heー?”
“Which means,” Piper bowled over his protest, her eyes sparkling deviously. “That whatever game they’re playing, they’re both in on it.” When Jason stopped his pacing to stare at her, dumbfounded, she went on. “They’re both into you, Sparky.”

“I still don’t get what your problem with Percy is,” Jason sighs, as they walk through the castle grounds. The ground is white, and there’s a thin layer of snow on all the marble columns. “He’s been the most popular member of court since he arrived! The maids and even some of the other knights are always fawning over him.”
Nico just furrows his brows and looks away. “I just don’t like him, okay?” Sir Percy has done nothing but mock him since he arrived at the castle, how could he?
“Well, I hope you can get along, because you’re really the only ones I can trust with this quest.” Jason slaps Nico in the back, smiling. “Who knows, maybe you’ll even become friends.”
Or in which Nico and Percy are both Knights of the Realm, and Jason decided to send them off to find some stupid flowers.
