Summary
Michael’s a physics student at UNM who’s conned into working New Year’s Eve at his friend Maria’s bar. She insists it’s important he work that night in particular, and he has no idea how right she is until one Alex Manes limps into the bar.
Alex Manes is newly home from deployment, adapting to life with a prosthetic leg, when he finds a cryptic note on his doorstep. “If you see the handprint, go to Manes.” This leads him down a path he couldn’t have predicted that has him suddenly believing in aliens. Finding his friend Maria’s name in one of the files leads him to her bar on New Year’s Eve to warn her about her association with one Michael Guerin, who may or may not be an alien.
