“How are you comfortable like that?” Nancy asked, looking through the dark at how Robin layed perfectly still on her back, hands steepled atop her stomach.
After a few moments, Robin answered hesitantly for a second before the words started pouring out, “I’m not, I normally sleep on my side but there isn’t much space-” Nancy grabbed her hand, endlessly endeared, and turned. She pulled Robin’s arm around her waist so that she was spooning her, winding their fingers together where Robin's arm fell naturally at her stomach.
“There.” She murmured softly.
“Right. Thanks. That's perfect- I mean- not perfect just- better,” Robin choked out. Nancy could feel her heart hammering against her back.
She smiled.

In some broad, general sense, Nancy knows that Robin is cute. She knows it in an objective kind of way, the way she knows that the sky is blue and Mike is a pain in her ass. It's not a big deal or anything, that's just how it is.
It becomes a big deal approximately two weeks after spring break, walking beside Robin down one of the few remaining untouched streets of Hawkins, the air not yet stiflingly humid the way it's bound to be any day now, and the sun falling behind the trees. Robin is, as is to be expected, rambling on. Today's rant is about Grease 2, which apparently came out in 82 and which Nancy had had no interest in seeing. Maybe she and Barb had considered it, briefly, but it had quickly been overtaken by a movie they actually had some interest in, so she knows next to nothing on the subject. (Or, at least, she knew next to nothing on the subject, before Robin started her diatribe.)

Robin squints trying to get a clearer view. Is that the little boy who lives down the street? What is he doing here? What is she doing here? In this dark, twisted version of reality.
He gets closer, close enough that Robin can just make out the fear on his face, mirrored in her own. She lowers her knife and he lowers his gun.
