This is a collection of Buffy/Angel stories originally hosted by Chrislee on her website Octaves of the Heart. In her description of the Sublime Archive, Chrislee said she featured stories that she found "particularly beautiful, or awe-inspiring (which is the Oxford English Dictionary's definition of sublime)."
Octaves of the Heart is moderated and open to new works that must be approved by moderators MrsGordo, GraceNM, and Chrislee.
The import of this archive to the AO3 was approved by the OTW Open Doors Committee on August 23, 2020, and began January 2021. Import of this archive was completed September 2021.

In between night missions and training Slayers and getting Dawn off to school every morning, Buffy will close her eyes against the memories, lazy and blurred like the deepest of dreams. Dark hair, darker eyes. Tall, broad-shouldered. The safety of his arms and the pain of leaving them. The pulsing fall of a driving rain and the cold flurry of miraculous snow. Whispers in the night, heavy with regret, desire, absolution. Death, so dark and bitter like ashes, and passion, rich and throbbing with lifeblood. And their willfull sacrifices against the backdrop of destiny and circumstance. What was and always will be.

Summary
DHST: Domesticated Hostile SubTerranean. Vampire. Enemy.
The year is 2001 and the Slayer is protector of Guardian City, The City. Largest of the walled human cities, it resides along the western coast of North America, encompassing the Hellmouth. More than ten million humans call it home and it is built on the indentured labor of thousands of DHSTs. They are the nameless, faceless masses, known only by identification numbers and devoid of any rights or voice. They were recruited from the Wastelands, the no man's lands that exist in the areas outside the Council walls. Victims of the vampiric plagues, human outcasts, demons ... those outside Council protection survive hand to mouth in the harshest of conditions, left to the whims of Varkesh and his demonic hoards. But inside the Council walls, it is safe, clean, ordered.
But there are murmurings ... There is unrest ... Something is coming and the Council is desperate to end it before it begins. The DHSTs are restless. There are rumors of massings and traitors. It falls on the Slayer's shoulders to ferret out the threat.
But she cannot do it alone.
