The Tolkien Decameron Project
With COVID-19 running rampant around the world, many people are currently stuck at home during this pandemic.
With the Tolkien Decameron Project we are trying give those of us who are currently sitting at home something to pass their time with and, hopefully, bring a little bit of joy into their lives. Just like in the original Decameron, we are collecting stories to tell each other, no matter the writer, the genre or the length of the story.
In here you can post and read everything from the Lord of the Rings fandom, the Hobbit fandom or the Silmarillion fandom, be it a brief one-shot or an epic of sprawling proportions, a tale of romance or a swashbuckling adventure, funny or serious - you decide what to read and write! Have fun, be creative and, above all, stay safe!

Turukáno could tell at once that something was wrong. Although recently his nephew had become more cheerful, Lómion’s disposition had long tended toward the melancholy – but Turukáno had never seen this look on his face before. His expression was hard and unmoving as stone, his jaw clenched and his lips pressed tightly together, and he stared fixedly at some point on the wall behind his uncle. Turukáno did not even think he was breathing.
He did not speak, and after a moment Turukáno prompted him hesitantly. “Lómion?”
His nephew did not look at him, but a muscle in his jaw twitched. “I need,” he said through gritted teeth, “to show you something."

Summary
Early in the Second Age, Elrond is a loremaster-in-training (self-taught, but not any less well-taught for that, thank you) in Gil-galad’s court. He does not speak of his past, and does not take to inquiries with good grace. But when he receives an assignment that will take him to one of the few remnants of the drowned lands of his childhood, he finds that his past is not so easily ignored as all that. Gil-galad’s choice of traveling companion for him does not help matters. At all.
