Almost 50k put into fixing her new home? Painful but bearable. She has money saved up from her books selling well.
Writers block hitting her harder then ever before, just when she really needed the money? Okay, at least she’s got a few chapters lined up already. It’s not too bad.
Her neighbor, an enthusiastic (if not senile) old mage sticking herself stubbornly into her life? Not the worst thing that could happen, at least she seems mostly harmless.
Sudden sleep paralysis and dark shadow haunting her dreams every night? Probably just the stress of her Grandmas death and the sudden move. It’ll pass.
A creature lurking in the woods, stalking her with a red glow and brief flashes of white? Probably just a weird deer… albino maybe.
