Summary
In 1793, drunk on crépes and smiles (and possibly a little bit of alcohol as well), Crowley sent a stack of pages to a publishing company.
Not too long after that, the first volume of love poetry by up-and-coming writer Antonio Penn hit the printing press.
~ ~ ~
It was one of Aziraphale’s gavotte partners at the club in Portland Place who gifted him his first copy of one of Antonio Penn’s anthologies of poetry.
Penn was, of course, far from the first love poet whose works Aziraphale had read… and, indeed, far from the first whose poetry had touched his heart. Still, Aziraphale was not sure he had ever encountered an author whose words resonated quite so deeply.

Summary
It was ten months after the nonapocalypse — the first month and a half having been primarily occupied with processing the fact of the continued existence of the world, the rest spent attempting to work up the nerve he needed — that Aziraphale finally found himself ready to tell Crowley how he felt.
And what better way to go about doing that, after all, than through the words of the one poet whose writing most intimately, accurately, and eloquently expressed the same feelings that Aziraphale himself now wished to convey?
~ ~ ~
Crowley stared down at the lines unfurling across the page, eyes tracking words meticulously written in a familiar hand.
Crowley recognized the words he was reading: words of love, and devotion, and an eternity of unending care. He knew those words. Knew their rhythm, their melody, their inspiration. Knew how they felt spoken on his tongue, flowing from his pen, floating in his head and in his heart.

If I said you’re in my dreaming
Both in day and in the night
Though you’d think it unbeseeming

If you could know I’m in your thrall
Would you take me in your wings?
Please tell me, would you let me fall?~ ~ ~
