“No buts, Miss Sharma.” Anthony sits forward on the chaise lounge and Kate freezes in her spot. His eyes are heavy and dark, and an undercurrent of danger zips beneath her skin, raising the hairs on the back of her neck. “I seem to remember telling you last week that if you were late again I would have to punish you.”
Kate takes an aborted step back and her thighs hit the edge of his desk. Anthony flexes his hands against the fabric of his trousers, and a spark of something unnamable burns low in Kate’s belly.
