Summary
After Leon, a young squire from Camelot, is captured by slavers and abandoned by his patrol, he ends up in Ealdor. He hopes that he can find a home again, and he does. For now.
But Cenred's still conscripting men to his army, and searching for sorcerers, and Merlin can't stay hidden forever. And if Leon's going to protect his brother, he'll have to do something he would really rather not. Even if it means not seeing said brother again.
Even if it's something Merlin and Will will never let stand.

Summary
The sun’s bright today.
It’s always bright, of course it is, it’s the sun, but over the course of the morning it’s been getting worse. The stabbing pain behind his temples is building and Elyan winces, trying to keep up with his boyfriend’s chatter. But, gods, it’s too hot for this, has been for days, and he envies Merlin, who’s in only one layer.
Elyan wishes his magic worked better on water, or maybe if he could conjure a breeze. That would be nice.Elyan overheats, and Merlin cares for (and worries about) his boyfriend.

“The heavy bruising’s unfortunate, although I imagine a bit of makeup will cover it up for the state visit.”
“What state visit? And why am I involved?”
“Camelot is coming.” Cenred raises an eyebrow, waiting for Merlin’s response, but when nothing comes he continues, “Two weeks from now. They’ll be here for a month for treaty negotiations, and I want you serving.”
Well. That one’s new. “What if they recognise me?”
Cenred chuckles. “I don’t intend on you getting too close, Merlin. You’re to attend me during public events, that’s all. And they won’t recognise you. They think you’re dead, after all. But if you do anything, and I mean anything, to help them remember... well. Ealdor’s a dangerous place.” Merlin swallows, and he knows Cenred knows he understands.When an Essetirian patrol discovers Merlin’s magic on a visit home, he’s taken for the army – until Cenred discovers who he is and decides that he’d be more use to reveal Camelot’s secrets. A year later, presumed dead by everyone he loves, a delegation from Camelot visits Essetir for treaty negotiations.

Summary
In the clearing is a stocky, balding man about a head shorter than Merlin, with a moustache like an aging slug. He’s staring at Merlin, mouth curled up into a sneer, and Merlin’s staring right back, fists clenched tightly at his sides.
Except that’s not right. Merlin’s not looking him in the eye, his gaze fixed somewhere around the man’s chest. And that’s when Lancelot realises that something’s very wrong here. Merlin looks everyone in the eye.
“Merlin?” asks Lancelot quietly.
Merlin doesn’t respond but the other man turns to him, sneer morphing into a wide, cold smile.
“Ah. You two know each other.”
“And you are?”
“Lord Accolon, at your service.” He gives an elaborate, mocking bow. “I’ve come to collect my soldier.”During a trip to Ealdor to avoid Lot's state visit, Merlin is confronted by someone he never wanted to see again, and Lancelot learns about the horrible secrets in his boyfriend's past.
