Summary
The others see the birds and mice, see the glamor of her hoard of animals, and make assumptions. They see how she struggles to pull or push as Ylfa does and ignore how light her feet are, how she moves in shadows as well as the mice who search for food under the nose of a cat. They see what they want, and don’t look deeper.
If they did, they would see the creeping briars growing from still-bleeding cuts, would notice that her circlet is ever so slightly bloody as they pass it around, as though she pulled it from her head. If they looked closer, they would see the horror of a wave of chittering mice chewing through constricting binds, would see the power of a falcon up above who is loyal first and foremost to the Princess of Reverie. But they don’t look closer, don’t see the eldritch beast wearing gowns and a kingdom on her shoulders.

Summary
From the time that Rosamund was old enough to understand, she knew her life was forfeit, at least until her True Love saved her. She didn’t know what they would save her from, not yet, but she knew they would. Her life would not start until she met this True Love. So she took to reading, climbing, and being wild. If nothing she did counted until her True Love saved her, she would do as much as she could to impress them, in hopes that they would marry her.

Summary
Hob knew, in their heart of hearts, hidden with all the letters he had received from Rue, that their love was one of wish. He was but a soldier, twisted and used by the Lord Blemish and Lady Boil in whatever court games they had thought up to amuse themselves. Even his appearance at the Bloom, as a bodyguard and spy, was only out of a desire to use his status and inability to lie as a way to entertain and gain insight.

Rosamund du Prix wakes, again. A snarl escapes her as she pulls with all her New-Self’s fay-given strength, briars giving way under her resolve, and blood splatters her dress once more. In a decidedly un-ladylike move, she uses the back of her hand to wipe the blood from her mouth, turning her attention to her jailors. There is no hopeful cry this time, no naive call for a prince, she Knows now. Knows better.

Summary
She hadn’t been lying to Baba Yaga when she said that she was no longer the soft flesh Baba Yaga apparently preferred, she may not be the burly Cinderella or even as strong as Ylfa or Tim, but archery at the angles she hit required a good core and arm strength, she may not be the strongest, but she was not soft, hadn’t been since the Sleep, sense the briars and the thorns. She may have been naive, hoping for her true love, expecting them to find her, but she hadn’t been soft. Couldn’t afford to be soft when there were briars wrapped around her bones.

Summary
Her parents wanted to hide all spindles and spinning instruments from her but that seemed dumb and like it would make her more susceptible, that was her word of the week, to a shiny spinning wheel. So, the brave child of eight that she was, she snuck out to see the royal seamstress, asking them to teach her all about the weaving of garments, from shearing to sewing. And they look at this tiny child, all of eight, and burdened with the weight of Possibility and think, why is only she looking at ways to prevent that, so they teach her.
