Summary
PAX lasted for four days. Smitty was only staying for three. Three days was enough time for him to get around most of, if not the entire function and see everything he wanted to, intertwined with meeting fans. He spent most of the first day with John. They dragged each other to particular stalls and talks. A few dozen people came up to them, asking for the usual: photos and a few autographs. And there was their usual bouncing off one another that Smitty adored.

"This is nice," John said once the waiter had left, oddly sincere, letting his hand fall from his face where he had been anxiously biting at his nails, and land outstretched across the table with his palm facing the ceiling. Smitty placed his own hand over it and he jumped a little at the coolness of John's rings. He didn't think he'd ever get used to the sudden chill because John always ran so hot everywhere else on his body. John's fingers curled around his and he squeezed. Smitty squeezed back.

In the middle of the hallway, Smitty began brushing the snowflakes from John's hair before they could begin to melt and dampen his curls. He'd left his cap in the car, and between pulling into the driveway and the front door, a large quantity of snow had gathered on his head. Smitty was wearing his beanie, so his hair would be mostly dry, apart from the few strands of hair that stuck out from underneath.
