He smiled, small but real. She wondered what he’d think if she told him her secrets. On nights like these, it took all her self control to silence her voice box.
With a heavy exhale, N shyly admitted, “I guess I’m just… tired. Of how humans treat us. And I’ve really been trying not to, but lately, sometimes I get super frustrated.”

Instead, she was met with fairy lights strung through a rooftop garden, miraculously intact, and a little table set with an array of her favorite foods. Warmly flickering candles lined the ledge of the rooftop. Faint music floated through the air, echoing in a dreamy way.
“You didn’t have to do this,” she whispered. She crept closer, almost afraid she’d wake up and realize it’d only been a lovely dream. “You didn’t have to go to so much trouble…”
“It wasn’t any trouble,” he said earnestly. “Not for you.”
