“A-Yao,” Lan Xichen says. It sounds like a swear and a prayer all at once. He falls onto his back, pulling Meng Yao against his chest. “My sweet A-Yao, I want to chain you to me and keep you forever.”
If anyone else said that, Meng Yao would leave a scratch across their face deep enough to scar. Instead, his whole being aches with want for the same, and he realizes in a hazy cloud of dread that he might actually be falling in love. Truly falling in love.
