Summary
Luke's parents don't understand his dream. Their dream. The boys would do anything for Sunset Curve to become legends.
Julie didn't expect her life to change when she found a 17 year old boy hiding out in her mom's old studio. Like most normal people, she expected herself to scream, call the cops, find her dad, etc., but instead, she sat with him and listened. And they bonded like she's never bonded with anyone before.
Eventually, not one, but three goofy teenage boys change her life.
[Note: This universe takes place in 2020, the boys never died and never became ghosts. They're normal teenagers, mostly.]

Summary
The Prince/Princess Protection Program was created after the Romanov Family executions as a way to protect the innocent royal children whose countries were in immediate danger, or young royals who were subjected to their parents’ crimes or during civil wars. It’s also supposed to protect royal children from abuse, but there had never been an actual known case of a royal parent being abusive.

Summary
Carrie Wilson hasn’t spent the holidays with her family in four years. Now, she takes a break from her career as Dirty Candy’s lead singer to return to Evergreen, where she soon runs into none other than Flynn Taylor, her childhood best friend and longtime crush.
Flynn was certain she’d never see Carrie again. Now that she’s back in town, however, Flynn’s old crush flares up with a vengeance. Between organising the town’s NYE party and preparing to run for mayor in the spring, Flynn spends plenty of time with Carrie and soon realises that those feelings might be mutual. At the end of the day, though, there’s a train ticket out of Evergreen with Carrie’s name on it, so there’s no point in acting on them, right?
Or: Flynn and Carrie spend the holidays together and fall for each other all over again.

Summary
It is not enough to want to change.
This is a thought that carries Carrie onward. It is not enough to want to change. She wishes it was enough, but it can’t be. Just wanting—how can the desire be enough? Even if it’s a yearning bone-deep, a desire that she can’t shake, it’s still not enough. It makes up for nothing.
But then, how does she make up for all the things that she’s done? How can anything she do possibly be enough?
In which Carrie tries, learns how to swallow words, tries something new, and realises she has more friends than she thought.

Summary
Nick's not entirely sure what to expect when Carrie tells him that he'll be getting picked up from Bobby and his bandmates, but it certainly isn't four people looking like they're spy agents out of a movie. However, aside from the shenanigans the band gets up to, it quickly becomes clear that they're lovely people and Nick loses his afternoon to making new friends.
Nevertheless, Nick is all too aware of the clock ticking down, and the conversation he needs to have with Carrie.

Summary
This is music as it should be, she thinks, void of sad songs and tragedy torn through it. This is music that isn’t grey. It’s the glow of a sunrise, colour streaked across the sky. It dances through the air, doesn’t contrast the silence but compliments it. Like this, Carrie thinks she could want to sing, want to create.
There is always what comes after and after Carrie's break down, there comes a time to rebuild herself. The morning might not be easy, but at least Nick is there. Whatever comes next, Carrie isn't alone.

Summary
The truth of the matter is that Carrie’s a bleeding mess of a person, broken fractured pieces stuck together with nothing more than nail glue. The truth of the matter is that Carrie has so many secrets that they’ve grown into thorny vines that weave through her ribs to strangle her heart. When she breathes, she feels them prick her lungs, leave her coughing up blood.
It’s easier to reach out, strike out, then admit that all the things she does are a vicious attempt to avoid recognising her reality—that she’s not okay.
In which Carrie struggles with the realisation that she's not okay, and sometimes standing out in the rain leads to finding a place of comfort and safety. She might not be okay, but maybe she'll get there one day with the help of some friends.
