A lightening storm in Chicago had left Clarke stuck at the airport overnight.
Her new flight was late.
Her luggage hadn’t appeared at the baggage claim when she finally did arrive.
And by then, Clarke was so late that she just called the airline from her dying cell phone and told them where to send her bag as she hailed a cab.
She was sweating.
Her appropriate clothing was in her lost luggage.
She sat in the back of the cab anxiously drumming her fingers on her knees as they sat in traffic.
Unmoving.
For far too long.
