Winter at Lockwood Farm should have been a season of rest, with only a few animals and the limited crops in their new greenhouse to care for. Time to decide what improvements they should spend their late-Fall windfall on, time to experiment with recipes for artisan products, time to determine what to plant in the coming year…

Summary
Darcy lived most of her twenties in a near-fatalistic pursuit of a good time. When escaping an abusive relationship and an unrelatable family brings her to her grandfather’s ranch in Pelican Town, she struggles to adjust. Stubborn and erratic and far from the exemplary and beloved farmer that her grandfather was, Darcy tries to create a new life for herself but quickly realizes that some baggage is not so easily left behind.
Shane believes he may never be happy again. Working a soulless, dead-end job in a tiny town and constantly feeling like a failure as a guardian pushes him into a liquor-soaked depression.
The intersection of Darcy and Shane’s lives was never going to be effortless. Alike in all the worst ways and each blind to their own merits, they seem hellbent on butting heads. Darcy refuses to accept her feelings and is debilitated by her fear of being hurt. Shane believes that he doesn’t deserve anything good. This is how they each make a lot of bad decisions and take a lot of detours before clawing their way back to each other.
