The Monkey D family does not sustain its bloodline like the traditional family would. No, of course not.
Fortune favours the D. So much so that they can influence reality and probability if they try hard enough.
It is only the Monkey D family that can make reality give up entirely on explaining how geneology works, and just concede to their claims to spare everyone the misery.

Divergence from canon - During Wano: While waiting for the rest of the Straw Hats to arrive in Zou, Zoro was offered the chance to eat a smile fruit as punishment for ‘stealing’ Shusui. He agreed, to try to preserve his cover, and ended up with this permanent smile.
AKA: Wouldn’t it be fucked up if Zoro was made to eat a smile fruit?
And what would Luffy and the other Straw Hats do to help him?
