Lorenzo tuts slightly, “That is not all, maman. The Duke has said he wants his son to be betrothed by the end of this season as well. He is a well-known alpha among his peers, seeing as he will take the role of Duke once his father passes on. He is likely to be the most sought-after alpha this season. But his father has said he wants his son to be introduced to Charles especially and he hopes that Charles will grant him his first dance of the season.”
Charles jolts and the modiste glares up at him, needle poised at the ready. She might just stab him purposely this time around. He tries to smile apologetically, but his face only manages a small grimace. She rolls her eyes and goes back to hemming the bottom with the delicate white lace that matches the top and sleeves.
His reaction could be taken as a surprise at such a title as the Duke’s son taking a liking to him, but really, his surprise is at the alpha in question.

“Louis, I know it’s hard, but I need you to focus and tell me exactly what happened, ok?”
Louis is shaking uncontrollably, his hands, his heart, his mind, nothing is stable, nothing is ok. He feels untethered, boundless in time, yet paradoxically his entire life is torturously bound to this very moment. Absolutely nothing he tells his mind serves to calm his racing thoughts, he commands his body to move and his body betrays him, commands lips to speak, but no words form. All Louis can do is blindly stare at the sickeningly heavy blood coating his arms, dripping to his trembling fingers. Tears ceaselessly pour down his cheeks despite how hard he squeezes his eyes shut, trying desperately to calm himself enough to utter a sound. And he can’t breathe, despite all of his failed efforts to catch his wandering breath and gasp a much-needed lungful of oxygen, his diaphragm constricts furtherstill, suffocating him from the inside out.

Louis forces a sharp inhale that hurts as the breath expands his stilted lungs, god it hurts. Like stabbing his chest with a serrated knife, dragging the jagged blade through his heart over and over and over again until there is nothing left.

Summary
Louis Tomlinson, one-time Formula 1 World Champion, is looking forward to the 2013 season. He’s got Zayn in his garage and Liam in his ear, he’s got Cowell Racing backing him despite former indiscretions, he’s got experience and the best race car out there. Not to mention he’s the only racer they have, after Oliver dropped out late last year.
It hasn’t occurred to him that Oliver would have to be replaced by February. That is, until he finds himself at a party celebrating Harry Styles leaving Ferrari for Cowell. Harry hotshot Styles, who broke a record last year and is probably looking to make a big splash. Harry Styles, who is talented and somewhat intimidating. Harry Styles, who left Ferrari for reasons unknown and seems kind of lonely and harmless in person. Lonely, harmless, hot as fuck. Whatever.
The first thing Louis does is take him under his wing. From there it’s nine months of slow-burning romance, the past catching up to them, turning into the human puppy pile that is OT5 and a lot of feelings until, of course, reaching the finish line.
