    Izuku.. Doesn’t know what he wants to be yet. He doesn’t think he can be a hero, at least not one that saves others like All Might does. If he were to get in a wrong fight and his quirk suppressor fell off.. He’d be done for.

    He thinks… He still wants to help people, though. So maybe.. Maybe he can.. Still learn to fight but also.. Learn how to heal? His Dad and Papa sometimes come home injured, but Dad is the one who comes home without bandages every time. Papa can go to the hospital, Dad can’t.

    If he could help people who fight for good underground and can’t get healed because people don’t like them, then maybe he can instead.

    A hero who heals, yeah. He could do that.

    Or// Izuku is born with a quirk that makes him sick. But that's not so bad- I mean, it could be worse. He could be quirkless.

    Midoriya Izuku never wanted the spotlight.

    Quite frankly, he'd have been happy spending his three years in U.A.'s Support Course hunched over his work bench drowning in blueprints, caffeine, and whatever gas Mei had accidentally flooded the workshop with this time.

    But no, apparently the support students needed to be more 'well rounded' and 'integrate with their fellow classmates'.

    Cue Power Loader drafting Class-2H into mandatory training and 'team building' exercises in preparation for the upcoming Sports Festival.

    Because that was the obvious solution. Public humiliation and an absolute overhaul of Izuku's carefully curated schedule of avoidance and overwork.

    What could possibly go wrong?

    The one where Midoriya Izuku is in the U.A. Support Course and spends his time sabotaging any and every attempt Power Loader makes to train him for the Sports Festival, tormenting the U.A. staff, and single handedly raising the resting heart rate of one Aizawa Shouta. His genius gets exploited, his inventions taken advantage of, and All Might eventually realises that the kid he once said couldn't be a hero is a braver one than he ever was.

    Summary

    Zero (formerly Midoriya Izuku) grew up with only the Doctor's twisted experiments for company, slowly becoming more like them as Garaki adds 'upgrades' to his living doll.
    When the USJ attack is launched Zero takes the chance to escape but he can't leave his friends behind.
    Who needs a quirk when you have indestructible monsters at your beck and call?

    The other doctor scoffs and mutters some very inappropriate words under his breath as he leans over to something Izuku can’t see and doesn’t bother trying to see - instead, he keeps fighting, clawing and punching at the doctor’s wrists and shrieking as loud as he can. He won’t die today. He won’t.

    The doctor pulls away from whatever he was doing to stab something roughly into his neck. Heart hammering, Izuku watches as his hands go still around the doctor’s wrists, as his body starts refusing to writhe beneath him.

    The doctor removes his hand from his shoulder and leans back, but Izuku’s body won’t obey him and get up. It just lays still on the frigid metal table, even his tears ceasing their descent, leaving him with a pulsating headache and raw throat.

    “There. He’s not crying anymore.”

    His mom didn’t let him play outside for months after that. Few parents in the neighborhood did. Some of them didn’t seem to care, though.

    “My kid has a strong quirk,” he heard one father say while he waited to get picked up after school. “No villain is grabbing her off the street, I can tell you that.”

    Katsuki couldn’t believe he would say such a thing. Maybe it was true about some kids – Katsuki would never let himself get kidnapped by a villain, after all – but most kids weren’t any more powerful than Deku was, even if they did have quirks.
