Summary
Crumbling marble busts lined Marcoh’s path as he caught sight of a confession booth, almost hidden and unassuming at the end of the dimly lit room. He had never gone for confession himself but he knew how it was done. You sat down, spilled your wrongdoings, and got a quick fix prescribed by the priest. Others always reported the freeing feeling of weight lifted off of their shoulders. Marcoh sure had a lot weighing him down since arriving in Prehevil, hell, since he was turned to the streets as a child. Maybe giving a confession now would be a little test of its enlightening effects. He thought back to the dream he had on the train and the immediate guilt he felt after.
Marcoh took a seat in the confession booth. The well-worn wood of the bench creaked under his weight. The air in here seemed denser, charged somehow. With a sigh, Marcoh began, “Forgive me Father, for I have sinned…”

Wolfwood has control issues during sex. He loves servicing his partner, making sure his needs are met, but when it comes to returning the favor - He balks hard, feeling like he doesn't deserve the attention. Vash finally brings it up with him, determined to show him how wrong he is about that.

Summary
Vash has the lung capacity of a man who’s cried for 150 years.
It isn't like Wolfwood takes more than he gives — but like with most things, he barely keeps up with Vash. He works his body to the limit, even as his lungs burn and his legs and arms give out under him. They fuck like they’re on borrowed time.
All of this makes it so easy — so much easier than just talking. Wolfwood would sometimes rather pull new and interesting noises from Vash with just his mouth than do anything else with it. Their own dialect: moans, groans, and four words. “Yes” — “Please” — “Vash” — “Wolfwood.”

Quick as a snake, Vash’s hand darted out and grabbed a fistful of Wolfwood’s hair, forcing his head back to meet his softly glowing aquamarine eyes. Wolfwood’s soft gasp was overshadowed by the small shuddery moan that escaped his mouth immediately after. Vash smiled, sharp and thrilled.

The church bell of La Misión de Cristóbal tolled midnight across the valley. Its clear song rolled over the grassy valley floor and down the small road, little more than a horse trail, between the mission and the town of Concepción. Deep shadows cloaked the land as an ocean of stars whirled above. No moon hung in the sky that night, a bad omen. On a black night such as this, demons were said to wander down from the mountains to claim innocent victims in their sleep.
Nicholas would never have put stock in those old wives’ tales, had he not been exactly the kind of creature they warned about. He stood at the crossroads, where the Concepción road met the larger wagon track that led to Linares in the west. His eyes, unencumbered by the depth of the darkness surrounding him, scanned the road in the direction of the mission. Somewhere out in the wavering grasses, Angelina, wearing the skin of a coyote, prowled through the night, harassing rabbits out of their dens for the fun of hearing their panicked squealing.
Nicholas raised his newly rolled cigarillo to his lips, lit it with the tip of his finger, and took a deep breath.
