Summary
Robert Chase is a known pretentious brat. With his father’s money, his mother’s good looks and an aptitude for medicine, his whole life has been smooth-sailing. He is as self-absorbed as he is vapid and vain.
No one cares to see past the surface. Until it is stretched thin, and all the secret intricacies that make Chase who he is are exposed.

A collection of short stories in which the ducklings and House see different sides to Chase that they never noticed before. Early duckling trio.
Ch1 summary:
The diagnostics team are midway through a case when they hit a rut. With tests bringing forth no answers, their typical illegal examination of the home reaping no fruit and questioning the patient no longer an option as she has now fallen comatose, they have one last card to play; interviewing the only known relative, her mother.The problem is, she doesn’t speak English.
When House and the others try to communicate with her to no avail, it’s up to Chase to give it the last shot. No one expects much — House is already halfway on the phone to Cuddy for a translator.
However, will the Australian surprise them? Perhaps he has more tricks up his sleeve than they previously imagined.

Summary
After the death of his parents, Dr. Robert Chase is left with nothing but unpaid bills, a people-pleasing complex he can't seem to kill and a broken boiler in the dead of a New Jersey winter.
Running on caffeine and denial, he's holding it together by sheer force of will, until a new patient shakes something loose. The virus is easy enough to treat. The memories it unearths are not.
As past and present begin to blur, Chase is forced to confront the one thing he swore he'd never look at too closely. And if something doesn’t change soon, the cold won’t just get under his skin — it’ll pull him under.
