There were times when Elphaba felt wild, wicked one might even say. Her emotions burned through her like a single flame reducing a forrest to ash. Afterwards, she would be left quiet, empty, still. But while the fire still burned, she felt a frantic chaos that she couldn't ignore.
The flames that consumed her usually acted as a reminder of one of many painful truths in her life. Today, she longed for a life she only so briefly had. One where she knew acceptance and love, if even only in a small, shared bedroom with two twin beds.

“What the fuck did you just say?” Ellie demanded, tearing herself away from Dina who refused to give up her arm.
“Ellie, Ellie don’t!” Dina pleaded, trying to draw her back, but it was too late. Ellie grabbed the fabric of his shirt with her free hand, causing Dina to let go of her other hand in shock.
Seth just laughed. “Oh, you want to fight?”

“Do you keep track of the date?” She asked in a soft, distant, un-Ellie-like voice.
Taken off guard by the question, Joel thought for a moment before answering. “In a general sense… yeah… but I could be off by a day or two…” His brow furrowed in confusion which his morning grogginess didn’t aid in. “Why? Is it your birthday or something?” Joel asked, fighting the panic in the corner of his mind that he was supposed to know what today was and how to respond to it.
“No.” Ellie replied simply. After a moment, she added, “Kind of a birthday I guess… But you missed the real one, asshole.” Ellie said in an attempt at sounding like her usual self, an attempt she knew failed.
“Ellie… I…” He stumbled, wanting to understand but not knowing what to say or do to get there.
“It’s the day I got bitten.”
