    Joe listlessly picked at his food and only half listened to Todd's chatter.
    "Isn't the food amazing? I swear, I have never eaten Italian this good. Not even when I was in Rome last summer."
    "Yeah, it's good," Joe agreed without meaning it, but he took a bite out of courtesy.
    It was fine. Nothing more. Nicky could've cooked this dish a hundred times better – had, in fact, done it many times – with his eyes closed and a hand tied behind his back. Joe grimaced at the memory of Nicky serving him a plate full of delicious pasta with one of his little smiles Joe had loved from the minute he'd met him.
    'You need to stop thinking about him,' rang Quynh's voice in his head.
    He tried, he really tried, but his stupid heart wouldn't let him. His stupid treacherous heart that Nicky had broken.
